Great interview as usual. If Mailloux makes it as a 5 ill be happy. To be competitive and defend against the best left wingers we will need a high end talented RHD
👊🏻
They are waiting for Mailloux because of the accusations there was against him... they hope people forget and don't bring it up as soon as he goes out to dinner or something
Fair and perhaps we re at that point ?
@@shaunstarr I think so, we shall see
🚨 Michkov NEVER Wanted To Play Anywhere But Philadelphia #montrealcanadiens #nhl #flyers ruclips.net/user/shortsvBwBwZmaU5A?feature=share🚨
Can he play net?😂
Oh no🤣
After listening to this I'm questioning if Sean has watched any Laval games lately... We're not seeing the Mailloux we saw last year, he's even lost the PP QB spot to Engstrom.
Sean is a big buyer and is impressed with his mean streak that he thinks habs lack and he can bring now
could mailloux close to a sheldon souray type of defensemen?
That’s a great comp
Logan is not a fighter. He checks and shoves but he doesn't drop the gloves. I saw him fight in the OHL and he was put down by much smaller player. If he is partnered with Arber, then yes he will be a lot harder player.
Sean says he’s nasty and Habs need it
There’s no rush or room right now. You can’t have 5 young defensemen
I think management agrees with you and here’s my guess…Savard is next to go and Mailloux comes up
@ it’s not really a guess, it’s been mentioned often
I prefer he stay in Laval until next year. The Rocket are doing so well and they have a legit chance at winning it all. If the up and comers gain playoff experience in the AHL they'll be better for it when they do get called up.
I agree. We have rushed too many young players up to the NHL. Leave Logan in Laval for the rest of this year and give him and his young team-mates a chance to work in the playoffs. They all need that experience before coming up!
Im like that and feel other than that one game call up cause Montreal is at home and Laval too and they’re between games. Keep em all there
Habs have Leverage over Logan given his “history.” While I don’t agree with the tactic, Logan has NO leverage. This isn’t about Logan being blackballed by the Habs, it’s about using organizational leverage, which is wise.
Should be interesting to see it play out but i do see a Logan call up this season maybe after Savard trade?
The Habs won't trade Jake unless they get someone special in return. He's still blossoming, and who knows where his ceiling is. Calling him a 4th line center is short-sighted and an insult.
He’s 28 and this could be his big contract of his career. He’s having a great year I just wonder if he’d take 3 years here?
Hey Shaun, Don't know about Reinbacher being a top 4 D man, I do believe Mailloux is ready but as Campbell said they will not bring him up to be a 7th D man. On a side note your dynamic with Simon is excellent on the morning show, much better than you and the beard.
If he’s playing 24min a night in a few years he’s top 4 and it’s a good pick. That’s how I’ve settled this pick in my mind otherwise I’d go nuts thinking about the offense in that draft year
Mailloux's game in the A makes Matheson appear like a prime Ray Bourque. Mailloux also doesn't have Hutson's offensive ceiling either.
They have different skill sets , Mailloux is a big mean guy that can take guys out using his size and drop his mitts. Hutson is more of a finess player . You need a good mix of players and habs are going to need mean guys ready to do some dirty work once they become a playoff team .
Sean likes his nasty streak while also learning the pro offensive game and he sees it. 👊🏻
Why not. Like I said before, when you're at the bottom, it's about development. He has questions on his D game? Ok. No surprise, I don't mind the losses!
👊🏻
Dated show, Barron is gone now.
As we predicted I might add. 👊🏻
Carrier has more pop in his game than he’s shown in Nashville. There’s some Spurgeon in his game. Totally agree. Time to call up for Mailloux good. Imagine him with Guhle, Hutson, Reinbacher??!! Matheson should be moved as he’s at peak value IMO.
👊🏻
Remember Larry Robertson serge savard and Guy Lapointe, the big three, and the next one's are going to be on steroids aber xhekaj Logan mailloux and David Reinbacher, and then to add Jacob Fowler in net. This is gonna be one of the best defensive course since the nineteen seventies...
Xhekaj’s game has improved so much. Credit to the player and the coaching staff. Impressive
The D in 3 years. Ghule, Hutson, Xhekaj, Mailloux, Struble, Engstrom and Rienbacher
Mailloux not ready guys. He makes too much mistakes. Hutson is at another level.
Isn’t it so fun getting excited to watch Hutson play? And he plays for Montreal. Makes me feel like a kid and a super fan again sometimes
I think Mailloux will surprise many people down the road. He'll add to the output. I see him perhaps as another Robinson when he hits his prime.
Have ever seen Robinson play ??? Sorry to desappoint you but Mailloux will only be a 3rd pairing defenseman in the NHL. I want what you are smoking 😅 !!!
@powers1500 First of all, yes I saw Robinson play from his prime until he retired. You take Mailloux size and skill and you have all the ingredients. What is missing though is to have someone develop that talent, perhaps Robinson himself. P.S . I don't smoke 😜
Have you actually watched Robinson? Comparing Mailloux to Robinson, even if you are only talking about potential, is the worst hot take I have ever seen.
@@jean-francoismercier8096 Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
@@costa328 Indeed, say whatever you want...it is your opinion !!!
Hey Guys, love the shows, I think this teams needs some men, Carriere is good start, too many boys playing a man's sport, until these guys do some growing up, the Montreal Canadians need to get tougher around the edges. Cheers thanks
Totally agree.
Struble is a 7 at best
His ceiling is top 4 in 4-5 years.
Nice to have some competition and good competition too on this team for spots
@@shaunstarr they’ll be some very tough decisions made and few will agree on those decisions
Can Mailloux be/play like shea weber?
no chance, Weber is significantly stronger and better defensively
Arber = future L/D Weber
@@marccomtois8639 no chance, Weber is a hall of famer
Shea Weber is now a hockey hall of famer...pretty big shoes to fill ???
Not so sure about that. On Weber, when I hear Nick Suzuki talk I hear the mentorship of Shea Weber in him.
Shea "the human pylon" Weber sucked.
No
He is a hockey hall of famer !!!
Yikes
Too many defensemen they have time watch when Savard leaves.
It’s coming 👊🏻
I am afraid that Logan has been black-balled by the Habs. They were shamed for selecting him and I think he will be traded. Hope I'm wrong but...
You are wrong my friend. They wanted a bit more experience but Mailloux is coming. He is not blackballed
@@shaunstarr @ginoderose1258 The previous regime drafted Mailloux but the current regime signed him to an official contract. He is not blackballed.
Who knows, one day the Montreal Canadiens might actually be a good team.
It’s coming. Demidov baby. Will change the game here
@@shaunstarr Demidov is an unknown quantity in the NHL. He may blossom immediately or take a couple of years longer. There are no guarantees. He may not pan out at all because of the physical game. We have to wait and see.
They need to develop their players...well we are back doing the same thing over again.Stuck in an endless loops of just medicor Hockey.
I think Struble will be the next trade. Carriere will show up the defensive liabilities on the D line. There is nothing wrong with learning your craft at the the AHL level. Someone on the D is going to get traded: Stuble/Savard/Matheson. Mailloux will get there
I think they like Struble and I do too. Would be a shame I think if he got traded but he def isn’t an untouchable 👊🏻
Sorry for all the spelling mistakes.
@@shaunstarr I like Struble too but he could be so much tougher in the corners. If he crunched people like Arber, then I think he would be untouchable. He plays a little soft in my view. Plus (a big plus) I watched him get beat trying to turn both left and right on speedy wingers; not good.
MM should be the next trade while he still has some value.
Obviously Savard. He’ll be 35.
Looking at, and something you might want to so something on, that Roy ever plays for Montreal full time. I just find he's super soft, avoids the tough areas, flinches all the time when the rough stuff is going on around him, I just don't see it.
I’d be surprised if he ever plays for Montreal, and at this point in his career it would be a big risk and long shot.
Get rid of Dvorak, find any way out at this point. Last year of his contract, bye!!
He'll be gone. Im sure of it!
Beck is not proven. We think he will be good but we are Habs fans so all our prospects are top 6. I’m more interested in the second crop coming up that are bigger and play with grit too bad they are so far out and may not even be good enough.
Well im pretty realistic and my guests cover the team so i would say we dont have the typical fan boy take.
Keep Jake no more then 3 and 3. Anybody that plays hard keep we don’t have enough of them.
fair
SEAN. FINALLY someone who understands. Keep Evans AND Beck! PS. Thanks for the videocast. I now know what the two of you look like!
Thanks man!
Where u bin?
right here baby
No, you don;t have to trade evans. he is fine 4th line center. Evans will be overpaid, you don;t sign a 4th line center for more than 2.5 mill a year
sorry, you have to move evans for the above reasons
Agreed!
We should be targeting vets that have actually won cuos and made all star teams before not below average players , i love Jake but what does he really bring in credentials that can lead the young kids to be better? None , just like matheson
vets will be leaving mtl soon
So tired of how media protected RHP is!!!!! Nothing against the kid but he is destined to play his career over seas and is just taking a spot up for a younger prospect to have more ice time
he caught fire and then got hurt
I don't see why we cant keep both if the price is right. The Habs have spent 7 yrs developing Jake to the level he can play at today. Why trade him when he is starting to peak as a defensive player.
fair way to look at it, Andrew. I wonder though at 28 does Evans feel this is his ONE shot at making bank?
@@shaunstarr If Jake can get paid more, he should take it. Hockey is a sport we have in our Canadian blood, but the NHL is an entertainment venue, and business rules.

Habs need centres If you move DVO and Evans Habs would only have Suzuki as a reliable centre Beck is coming up Dach needs to show he can play at 2C reliably Moving DVO and Evans could set back this team Moving Evans could be another Lekhonen type trade where you kick yourself for letting go of a gem. Suzuki Dach Beck Evans I could live with that Newhook to me is another guy I could live with moving, he hasn’t found a role, he’s not skilled enough for top 6 Not gritty enough for bottom 6 I like him but he is not a good fit
solid breakdown
I’m a Jake Evan’s fan but he gets too much love. Offers little offence and no physicality and we’re talking $4mill/year. That’s insane He’s not Phillip Danault.
Great point and Owen Beck is expected to provide more offense than Evans 👊🏻
He s on pace for a 42 pt season. Not bad for a 3rd/4th line center
@@mikemarcil9184 If he keeps that pace, it would be an amazing accomplishment. Since the 2021-22 season, only one player managed to produce over 40 points without a single PP point. It was Charlie Coyle in 2022-23.
@c.cylune6909 wow , interesting stat . I hope we keep him but he may be a little out of their price range if he flirts with 40
Maybe he's not "physical" in the sense that he doesn't go out of his way to inflict harm on the opponent but he is far from easy to play against. He can hold his own in battles and can protect the puck well. For a bottom guy, he brings all the offense you need imo.
Evans will want 4 years, at least 3.5M . Someone Will pay that.
Agreed!
What about Michael Hage? He's a center who's coming up soon
Further along the line. Beck. Kapanen ahead of him today I believe👊🏻
Hage is at least 2 yrs away. He has skill but needs to develop stamina, strength, and size.
Evans as a 4th liner yes keep him. The guy they should never trade is Anderson and believe me there will be a lot of interest as we move closer to the trade deadline. Anderson is a solid 3rd liner than can move up to the 2nd line when needed. He is big, strong, fast that can play with physicality and in my opinion if he plays with the right line mates can be a consistent 20 goal scorer.
👊🏻
100% agreed 👍 he's hustling 💪 hard
Fair assessment of Andy . Except, if you get a decent Return, Trade him
Evans is a PERFECT 3 rd line centre . Elite shutdown centre who can and does score. Anderson is borderline useless. Zero skill
@@fearedlegend your opinion, mine is the opposite, Anderson is far from useless maybe you have something against him and no way Evans is a 3rd line centre, not on a playoff team anyways.
Dvorak is gone leaves a space for Beck.
100%
So when is Newhook and Dach suppose to develop at center ? And if they are wingers why are we keeping them
Dvorak has to go.
It depends on the term
4 years 11 million. You in?
@ no more than 2. Beck is close
Would love to see Beck, 51 and Ivan to start next year believe that line would be a fountain of beautiful youth.
Let’s gooo
Primeau has been very consistent! Consistently BAD!
the fact that MSL has said he doesnt know who is playing Saturday speaks volumes
Enuff with Primeau hes not even a good ahler.
He was better in the AHL than in the NHL
Primeau is done with Habs. He has to move on to find himself
Once Dobes gets healthy should be interesting
@ maybe but for now. Not to get extra points but we need a vet back up to help the players in front of him
