EMTB Frameset Kit Options
EMTB Framesets options remains a "ongoing conversation" amongst those who wish for the option to build their own custom EMTB, Instead of buying a fully built EMTB and stripping and upgrading components.
This video highlights some of the many options for those who are interested to consider.
Moving into 2025, I have no doubt that we'll see even more options. With EMTB framesets using a variety of motor systems and designed for different applications.
So keep a watchful eye, as I'll make it my mission to feature all the different options for all to consider👍🏿

great video and channel in general! i'm a bit confused whether i can successfully connect besst to my uart bbs01 motor without powersupply so without the battery connected to it. i hoped to solve my problems by changing some motor setings but besst wont recognise the motor.
Здравствуйте! А для чего чёрный разъём bafang m620?
The black connector is the negative wire. The red connector is the positive. Do not switch them and simply plug each connector together with the corresponding colour👍🏿

will the fox air valve cover / rebound top cap fit in the bucklos? so you can make it really look like a fox fork
Apologies for the delay (I had to quickly check). The top cap from a Fox36/38/Marzocchi Bomber Z1 will fit and simply screw on in place place of the original one. As for the rebound dial, No. This is due to each rebound dial being specific to each air spiring / cartridge👍🏿

Looking forward to some riding footagew and reviews of the Markhor!
My friend owns a CEF50 bike. It's light. 19.2 kg in size large, with a 700 Wh battery. Looks cool. Doesn't cost a fortune. I think he paid like 2 grand for a whole bike. Has no speed limit out of the box. Downsides are that the M820 motor is quite underpowered at lower RPM. Something similar to a TQ or Fazua. But can't compete with Bosch or Brose. Frame doesn't have any anti rattling foam. So you need to put it in yourself if you care about rattle. Also, the 700 Wh battery that came with the bike severely limits power output on the last 20%.
Great now i want more bikes Thanks a lot 😢
Lol. Their's more coming my friend👍🏿
How do you get a non shimano battery to work with a Shimano motor? Darfon have a shimano cbus compatable battery?
Its the wire harness/loom and battery lower mount. Darfon uses a different battery mount and wire harness compared to Shimano. Essentially once you've installed one of them into the frame, you can only use that specific battery. I'll clarify on that in upcoming content👍🏿
Hey Neeko great content! I see you were reviewing a CF-52 mtb frameset. @ about 14min. on your video. I have had one of those frame sets for almost 2 years & have never seen anything about them at least someones opinion of them like yourself. However I did stumble upon a company in the UK that has adopted that frame & are calling it there own Static-bikes-uk. chk. it out. I also see that several companies in China say they produce the frame! Anyway if you know of any other reviews or info about this bike I would really like to see it. Thanks,Lmk & keep up the good work. Raydawg
Hi there, I am aware of Static Bikes. Unfortunately, they've only had limited feames sizes for the last year. Fingers crossed, they'll look to introduce XL options. But I am eager to build and test the CEF52👍🏿
@@neekodevinchi Thanks! Do you know of any more info/reviews on the CF-52? or where you can get spare parts for this frame? Great video! Been waiting for my LCE930 for 2+ months...

Got the kunlun my self uk it’s a great bike
The drivetrains are woefully underspecced for the torque being produced by the motor, you'd need at least Sram GX eagle, or preferably X01. Anything else with that motor wouldn't last long.
Agreed. I'm currently playing around with different drivetrains in conjunction with the Hybridizer and the M560. Keep a watchful eye, as I'll be delving further into that very topic👍🏿
Which size do i need for dengfu e82? I am 5 feet 10,8 tall. And how big are you? Waiting for the Luna x3 but i Just found s m l AS the sizes of the Last generations
I'm 6foot 3inches. So i would fit the XL. At 5foot 10.8inches, you're in-between the medium and large. Because the seat tube angle is steeper than the E10, you may want the large. But depending on your riding style, you may prefer a smaller/nippyer handling bike. Kindly consider joining the EMTB Frameset Kit Group, where I'm sure others who have built E82s will share their experiences with the Medium and Large frames👍🏿
@@neekodevinchiDo you think the Luna x3 will come soon? AS the 2.5 is Out for about a jear. And i think that they would use the e82 frame for IT? realy Like the ludi Controller and vesc app. Also i am living in Germany and Last Time they Said they only Ship in the USA. So idk how i would get IT to Germany...
Not sure if Luna will use the E82 frame. However, I'm sure their are better (and cheaper) ways to source the E82 in Europe (frameset or fully built). Dengfu do have a European distribution network called Carbon Cycle via eBay. As for the Ludi controller, I'm aware that it is exclusively Luna. However, you'd be surprised what you can do nowadays with a stock M510/M560 with the Bafang Go+ app👍🏿
The bafang app seems great thanks but i think they wont come close to the ludi power @@neekodevinchi
@@neekodevinchi can you adjust the max Speed (to 25kmh) in the bafang Go App or Vesc App? waht about getting an eg rider? was looking at an m560 for its power and smal size but it seems realy loud and Not even half of ludi power. seems like ludiv2 and silent Gear are better but Just come with Luna Bikes... there is actually an e82 (seems like the frame with the biggest battery?) Version with an Display in the frame and a Rack mount. But i Just See IT on the dengfu Site as an SUV Bike and Not as an frame Set. I have ridden an Bosch cx for 1jear now but i want an throttle and more Power aand idk how all the other Motors compare to IT in Terms of noise,.... Maybe you could make a Video about different motors and Controller options and how apps like bafang go, vescs and app rider work?
thx a lot for the list, abo left :-)
More emtb framesets coming. So keep a watchful eye👍🏿
Hi Neeko, thank you again for a very useful video. I also test different electric bikes from China, and one of the frames in your review really interested me - bxt 217. In the description of this frame it is written that it is compatible with the original battery Bafang BT F010.D672.C (48V-14AH), but in your video you say that you can put a 840 watt/h battery there. Can you send a link or the name of this battery?
Good question. The short answer is, yes. You can use the standard Bafang BT-F010. However, those batteries aren't as readily sourceable aftermarket compared to Dengfu's battery which is the same in terms of dimensions. Price between the two types of batteries vary. But Dengfu's batteries are usually cheaper than Bafang’s batteries👍🏿
Thoughts on Dengfu e82
I should recieve my XL very soon. So I'll keep you posted👍🏿
People on the emtb forums seem to report bad quality from DengFu. They suggest markhor or lightcarbon.
Thanks for compiling this list. Had no idea there were so many options.
Their's more coming. And more documented on the EMTB Frameset Kit Group on Facebook (link in the description)👍🏿
Yo! I'm on my last stage of my E55 build and ran into a problem or just my mistake!? I'm trying to tune the motor via usb cable with a program. The program is reading 48v 30ah motor spec. but I ordered the 52v spec one. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
Hi there, You can use the 48v M620 motor with the 52v battery. You need to amend the maximum and minimum voltage cut-off. For a 52v setup, maximum should be set to 60v. The minimum cut-off should be set to 42v. The display (depending on which display you're using), will interpret the battery percentage accurately in that circumstance. I would also advise decreasing the current to 25amps, as the efficiency of a 52v battery will allow you to achieve 160Nm of torque without requiring 30amps. Any problems, kindly message me👍🏿
@@neekodevinchi thanks again, sent you a email on further questions.
Ya know what would be cool - a company that made *bolt in* adapters so you could run, say... a Bafang motor in a frame with a Bosch motor mount (and back and forth from company X bolt/mounting pattern to Company Y bolt/mounting pattern.
That would be awesome👊🏿

I haven't forgotten them Ruban. Those framesets you've mentioned and more will be featured in the high powered ebike frameset video👍🏿
very very ineteresting!!!! good job, bro!!!
You mentioned the Exess ECROSS, but you forgot about something more popular, the Exess HP-E180
I know. I'll cover that frameset soon in the high powered ebike frameset video👍🏿
@@neekodevinchi Great, I’m glad to hear that, it’s good news. Remember that currently, the Exess HP-E180 can be equipped with a removable 1508 Wh battery at 52 V, and with the original lower link, the bike has 190 mm of rear travel.
How come you talked only about LCE930 and not LCE971?
Good point. I am aware of the LCE971. However, something else will be coming out which will surpass that model. Fear not However, a dedicated album for the LCE971 exists on the EMTB Frameset Kit Group (link in the description). Keep a watchful eye for more frameset ebike options👍🏿
@neekodevinchi what do you mean? Coming from LightCarbon to replace that frame? Sounds odd since they just few weeks ago updated the LCE971 frame.
I didn't say it was coming from Light Carbon😉

Hi, great videos. I 'm looking for a display for my watt wagons Hydra Black with the Bafang 620 motor . The Hydra Black is the pre-built version of the Hydra. I don't know too much about the specs on the controller.. other than it is not the "souped up" controller. There's not too much info out about this bike in general. Who knows if Watt Wagons is even still in business? I'm guessing it uses the Uart protocol. I'm just looking to replace my cell phone type display with the green round connector. Do you know if this 500C display will work on my bike?
Are we kinda poofs because we ride E-mtb instead of acoustic?.. I kinda hate riding my mtb now. Enduro dirtbike or e-mtb now I just crave the higher speeds and quicker action.
Your height needs a XL length
Thank you for taking the time to demo the tool and SW. I learned a lot, but mostly that I have a long way to go! Please keep posting!
When you start talking weight saving by changing a chain ring , better go for a sh*t before a bike ride , cheaper and easier
Hello Neeko, this video has been very informative and well thought out. Now for a question. I have a Frey bike circa 2018 with a Bafang M600 motor. I am getting the impression that 1: Frey used a Dengfu frame? and due to its age, 2: the motor must be a UART protocol? What confused me is this 2018 era M600 has a green trianglular 5 pin connector, which is often referred to as found on CANBUS systems. Last, you mention is is probably possible to get by without the need for any software and associated tools for the UART based motors. Which is apparently a good thing because it seems you can get opensource software and cables for the BBS motors. But 3: does the equivalent exist for the M600 and similar that may have been UART systems?
Hi there, sincere apologies for the delay. In answer to your question, the M600 is CANBus protocol. meaning that the Besst Tool would be needed to update and/or upgrade the firmware (depending on your preferences). I have experimented with some of the M600 firmware. Personally I prefer the "*CRX10NC4818i132046.9-28-2230-20220315.bin* firmware, which allows the M600 to push over 20amps to achieve the 120NM of torque far more easily. However, some have preferred a more milder feel for the M600. So changing the firmware (whereby it uses less maximum current), has been an option for a lot of riders. Frey however, are no strangers to using custom firmware on their ebikes. So I'm unable to confirm what firmware your are using, compared to what firmware I have tried. However, I did see a custom firmware from Luna Cycles which allowed for parameters to be changed in accordance with the app and display. I think the firmware was labelled, *luna_x1_firmware__74963.bin* . I'm sure that if you google that firmware (and you know someone who has the Besst Tool and an account with Bafang), it will allow you similar parameter tuning to a UART Bafang motor. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need further guidance or support👍🏿
@@neekodevinchi Thanks for the response, which is encouraging in thoroughness and speed! So turns out I was wrong in assuming my 5 year old M600 is UART. I'm thinking I'll overhaul my M600 as a winter project. I used your link to GreenBikeKit and they tell me that if I am just replacing gears and bearings I should not need to use the Besst Tool afterwards. Now that I'm on this train of thought, I'm also considering converting my Cannondale Trigger 29er with a kit, and trying to decide if I can live without torque sensing or not.
25 kg? wow.. my ktm macina kapoho bosch smart and 750wah is almost 28kg...
The battery is fairly light at 3.6kg for 860wh👍🏿

Can the Works Components headset fit in the Hybridizer?
I'm not too sure. It's been a while since I've used Works Components. But I am aware that their insertion requirements are longer than Superstar Components👍🏿
Hi, amazing bike, could you tell me measured real bb height?
Mine Is around 350mm with the 160mm travel fork and 29er setup👍🏿
@neekodevinchi thank you. And what is your power performance feelings? Is the peak power more like full power motors?
Compared to Bosch Gen4 and Bafang M510, you can notice a slight power reduction once you slightly climbing up steeper features. I would say it's similar to Shimano EP8/EP6. The EP801 with it's new firmware update now can accelerate faster and stronger than the M820. So ultimately, it's in the mid-assist category. but one of the more powerful mid-assist motors👍🏿
@@neekodevinchi that is very precised feedback, I feel you speak to my mind and now I can find what kind of power performance it is
Neeko, hello! Does the M620 rattle when going downhill? Like a Shimano or Bosch Gen 4, for example.
I can't hear a rattle from the motor. But you can hear it when you're pedalling (especially in the higher levels of assist). I've tried to show the real world noise of the M620 in both performance tests of the E55 and E22👍🏿
Where is the ride video? Did I miss it?
No. You haven't missed it. Bear with me and keep a watchful eye on upcoming content👍🏿
Hello Neeko. I am using E22 dengfu with M620 motor. Can I change to M510 to my E22 frame? I think have to use one kind of adapter (bracket). Where can I find it?
Hi there, I have seen third party adapters which will allow you to use the M510 motor on any M620 frame. I've never used one. But in that circumstance, I suspect the wire harness and speed sensor would need to be swapped as well. The adapters can be found on Ebay, Aliexpress or through a quick Google search👍🏿
@@neekodevinchi thank you neeko. I already search at aliexpress, alibaba and found a few but I am not very clear how that adapter works. It should be 3 braket nut for frame and 3 braket nut for motor. Most of it I notice only 3 hole. Thanks you for your reply. The reason I want to change to m510 is to make my emtb more lighter. Now 28 kg. Hard for me to cross fence, river and gate. Need 2 person helping me lift the emtb.
0:36/0:37
Hey question: does anyone know if this can be ordered with a 500W or 750W peak motor? I can’t get insurance in Canada with 1 KW motor in frame.
At what mileage should the M600 engine be serviced and lubricated?
It depends. Their's no set mileage which Bafang suggests performing a motor service. Usually, a service is reccomended once/if the motor acts irregularly. E.g. The M600s can require a main reduction gear and one-way needle bearing swap if the motor sounds rough when pedalling. I've serviced motors with over 2000miles. And I've serviced motor with only 50miles. But the culprit which warrants the service can vary. My main advice is, if the motor in anyway feels different whilst operating from when it was new. Then it's a sign that it needs to be looked into. If you require any assistance or guidance, please let me know. And I'll happily look into it for you👍🏿
I have an ebike that came with a bafang M600 and a 40T chainring. To change to 36T, is it necessary to calibrate the new size using BESST UART?
No. Motor calibration is only necessary to reposition the sensors within the motor, to determine which way is forward. The only time you need to perform a calibration is if you have changed firmware, changed the controller or replaced any of the internal mechanical components within the motor. Simply changing the chainring size doesn't require calibration👍🏿
Hi, great video. Could you tell me is it possible to adjust voltage of the battery or controller? I have a bafang account but after scanning the controller i got the settings but i was unable to change them.
Sincere apologies for the delay. The voltage parameters are fixed to each firmware. So in order to have a different voltage (minimum and maximum cutoff), you'll need to change the firmware (bin file). It's not like uart, where you can amend those values. Which motor are you trying to change the voltage? I might be able to navigate you to the appropriate firmware to install👍🏿
Nice video.
Love it🎉
How much stuff can you stash in the frame storage? Doesn't look like you can put much in there
You can stash a tube in there, provided you fold it very compact. Alternatively, a small pouch can fit in the internal storage. I guess you could stash a multitool in the pouch. Bit the external storage underneath the toptube would be more useful for essentials. Just make sure you buy straps if you intend on using them👍🏿
