P18 Sail - Lake Ontario North Shore Near Wilson NY 8/26/2024
We sailed about 2 miles eastward along the NY shore of Lake Ontario in light air. Drifting about 1 knot outbound, and 2 knots inbound. Just enough air to keep the sails full. We were in the shallows observing the rocky bottom and homes on the shore. Enabled by our shallow draft keel with centerboard up. We saw no fish at all, except once I saw a school of minnows. (not able to video) It was a bit more comfortable on the lake on a warm afternoon.

1974 Laser - My first Laser sail in 45 years
Просмотров 462 месяца назад
In the 1970's I purchased my first boat, one of the first Lasers, with paper route money. Recently I purchased a local area 1974 Laser and refurbished it. On 8/23/2024 I took it for a sail. My first Laser sail in 45 years. Lots of fun. A very fast and responsive boat. I remember it like yesterday.
Melonseed Sailing Skiff on Hemlock Lake 8/13/24
Просмотров 473 месяца назад
We had a nice little sailing adventure on this pristine undeveloped lake. Hemlock Lake is the second western-most Finger Lake in New York State. After the Seneca people were driven from the lake in 1779, it was later developed with cottages and hotels in the late 1800's. Later the City of Rochester seized the lake by "eminent domain" for a water source. A pipe carries the water over 20 miles no...
P18 Sail and Sunset 7/12/24
Просмотров 604 месяца назад
We sailed from Wilson NY and anchored off of Four Mile Creek State Park, to relax, eat, watch the sunset, and sleep overnight. An odd haze kept us from the normal view of Toronto, and then the haze built to a rainstorm near Toronto that was not in the forecast. We avoided the rain and lightning, and it provided an interesting sky, and the clouds parted enough at ground level to catch an odd sun...
P18 Sail Wilson NY to Fort Niagara Overnight Full Moon
Просмотров 2235 месяцев назад
On Thursday May 23, 2024, we sailed from Wilson NY to Fort Niagara. We spent the night in the Niagara River accompanied by a full moon which rose orange just after sunset, and the moon set over Niagara on the Lake, Ontario, just after sunrise. We headed back to Wilson early the next morning. Here are a few video clips from our adventure.
Melonseed Skiff First Sail 2024 - March 4, 2024, Buffalo NY
Просмотров 858 месяцев назад
With Lake Erie having no ice cover, and a warm day for early March, we were able to do an early first sail of the season. We went out from the Buffalo Harbor, south end, and ventured a bit into Lake Erie. The forecast 5-10 mph winds never developed, and it was pretty light air. But it was nice to get out on the water on a nice Spring day. Among the sights are some large grain elevators from a b...
Melonseed Sailing Adventure - Summer Solstice June 21, 2023 - Lake Erie
Просмотров 109Год назад
Wednesday evenings in Lake Erie off Buffalo NY, about 50 sailboats race in about nine classes and nine staggered starts. We went out in the Melonseed skiff to check it out, on the summer solstice June 21, 2023. Conditions were beautiful with a steady breeze a bit over 10 knots.
Melonseed Spring Sailing Adventure - Lower Niagara River
Просмотров 119Год назад
The video begins with a brief view of Lake Ontario and the City of Toronto across the lake. (If you can see it.) We launched from Fort Niagara State Park, in the lower Niagara River near the river's mouth into Lake Ontario. Since the light breeze was from the northeast, it was a good day to sail upriver against the current. We sailed close to shore at first to see the nature and interesting sho...
Buffalo Blizzard Day 6 - Cleanup - 12/28/22
Просмотров 72Год назад
The front-loaders came last night and made a path on our side streets in North Buffalo. Went for a walk. That is the Lake Effect Ice Cream shop in the first clip. Great variety of good ice cream. Starting to melt a bit. More warm days ahead, and rain by New Years Day.
Buffalo Blizzard 12/25/22 6:00 am - First Walk Outside
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.Год назад
In the City of Buffalo, after the lake-effect snow band stayed over the city for about 40 hours, on 12/23 and 12/24, with winds gusting with peaks 50-80 mph, the snow stopped (for now) on Christmas Eve, just before midnight. I go for a brief 6:00 am walk Christmas morning, to survey the snow before cleanup begins. Forgive the camera work. Just an old man with an old Flip camera.
Buffalo Blizzard 12/24/22 7:00 pm Peeking Out From in the House

At this point, in the center of the lake-effect snow band coming off Lake Erie, it has been snowing for over 36 hours straight. With winds gusting from 50 mph to as much as 80 mph has been recorded. It is 11 degrees F or minus 11 C at the moment. I am just peeking out the windows, and the front door screen. Listen to the wind. The goldfish know nothing.

'67 Mustang "Project California Coupe" Part 5: Preserving the Original Floors
Duuuuuude! It worked!! Man! As soon as I got my tire elevated it popped right on! Thank you so much!
Good man
Just jump half an hour over a 195/55/16 and it will only seat half of it. Would not budge
i deleted the top hats all together..patched the holes then sprayed flex seal. then a piece of aluminum screwed in then sprayed a bunch of coats of flex seal...
Wow!!! thanks so very much, 80lb me just put my truck tire on the rim!
Thanks cuz
Para chile es un loco cuentero no muestra bien lo k ase o no da ve kere fama el enfermo
Just get the alignment. This method isn't under warranty
Thank you
What do you do about having it balanced?
I have a bubble balancer, but spin balance at a shop is best.
By the way, that recess in the wheel is called the "Drop Center". It's made for easy tire mounting.
Great video!
We used to just spray some starter fluid throw a match in there and it would suck it right in
great tips
In mother Russia tire mounts you
Do you need a big compressor to pump it up? To reseal bead or a 12v compressor enough
I use a small California brand compressor. (120V) I doubt you can seal a tire with a small 12V portable. Unless the tire does not have air gaps to the rim.
I just learned something. Today I spent untold hours using my bubble balancer (just like yours) for the first time to balance my wheels but when I would take the wheel off the balancer to place the weights and put it back on the balancer, the reading would be crazy off. I didn't realize it would help to index the balancer ("North") in order to place it on the stand in the exact same position every time. Thanks!!
Another great in depth video. Useful to me in respect of the serp belt - which I feel I need to do shortly in my 74000 mile 9-3! An original pulley wheel is aroun €38 here - lucky so far! Will 2 x 3/8" extension bars work for the tensioner do you reckon or I need get the specified tool? Your tips on the belt & pulley are great thanks 👍
It's been a while, but I think the square on top of the tensioner is closer to 1/2 inch. A couple problems though are the proper tool has a bend, because a straight bar is interfered with by the firewall. The other issue is, if you use an extension, especially if not fully seated in the square hole, the tensioner hole can crack and break off. I've seen a lot like that.
Well done, sir Great explanation on that job.
Does anyone know which one is considered p0 302?
It means a misfire is detected in cylinder #2.
@@saabtech3510 yes I know that but heard that number 2 is based off the firing pattern not necessarily the second one in the order we see.
I patched 2 tires from the inside on my suburban a couple years ago. I was able to remove the tires mostly just by hand with no tools. During install, as I was pushing the remainder of the 2 tires onto the wheel, just as they popped into place I hyperextended my right elbow both times for some odd reason.
How did you remove the heat shield to the exhaust without dropping the exhaust?
I took the muffler loose from the hangers and lowered it a bit to slip out the shield.
Is there anything major that differs from changing the pump on this engine compared to the T5, B204L, from '98?
Very similar. The '98 is a bit easier to replace.
@@saabtech3510 alright, thank you!! I'll give you an update if I buy the car and give it a try! 🤝
Thank you
C-clamp trick worked like a charm! Prooved it! Thank you for video!
Thank god for guys like you
I'm confused on how he mounted the c clamp
It is amazing how a little thing like a tire can become a big thing when it starts taking time away from someone. Then a man shows up and passes on his knowledge he has acquired through the years and changes others lives in a small way. I think back to the days when the man at the parts store would help this young kid with his knowledge. The kid is now gone, I am now 62, but the knowledge people pass on can live forever.
And now you have scratched rims
Great video, I have some tyres before but never had some much trouble, I have been trying for hours but just found your video and hey presto 5 minutes and the tyre is fitted, thank you so much.
IT'S called a Coats 20/20 tire machine.
A tire bead holder is cheap and faster than a c-clamp. Makes all the difference. 2 decent tire levers for automotive use, and some tire lube. Your ideas are good but a couple dollars in tools can cut the effort and time you spend in half.
Good point. I later purchased a tire bead holder when I mounted some new lower profile tires for my Saab. The main issue for many though, is not understanding the bead recess in the wheel. And struggle because of that. Thank you for the good advice.
I've been dismount & mounting tires by hand for 40 years but half way along I bought a Harbor Freight manual tire changer, now about $45, and works great especially now I am older and don't want to wrestle it on the ground. I once dismounted 32 tires in an hour with that tool. I like Windex as the lube.
This was helpful, thank you!
Where can I find Calipers for my 99 93 Viggen?
Great overview! Thanks!
There’s a lot of “keys” required here 😂
The bits work better in a hammer drill. And when I'm drilling holes in concrete I usually have a bottle of water and pour in the hole while I'm drilling it. It helps cool the bit and keeps from burning the bit up. It will usually drill much faster even if you don't have a hammer drill.
DAY 3 of fighting that damn outside tire bead keeps sliding around the tire ......... xD thank you for the info
❤SAAB
OMG!! You are the MAN!!! I've been struggling for ages fitting my own tyres damaging the beads and alloys but less than 10 minutes thanks to your video and its done!!! For me the key was to getting it set in the recess like you mentioned and plenty of dish soap and water. Didn't bother with the clamp, just held one tyre iron whilst I worked my way around the with the other one! Worked a treat!!! Literally went on with very little resistance. I can't thank you enough, you've made my day and given me the confidence to do it all over again!!! Thanks so much! 😁
I'm impressed with the technique. I would add one thing, place the tires outside in the direct sun for a couple hours. Then follow this technique and they will almost fall on. Be thankfull for radial tires, bias ply tires are a bitch. Nice job.
Awesome!
I just called the local Toyota dealer and they quoted me $205 for one coil for a 2004 Scion XA. I didn't know they were made of solid gold.
excellent. Thank you.
After hours of trying to mount a tire on my rim i gave up sat down and had a beer while looking at RUclips videos. Came across yours. Two 2x4s and a c clamp and 5 minutes later. Done! Thanks for the help. Im subscribing to your you tube channel!
For your own sanity, I hope you’ve found this video. Thank you sir.
Another great tip is to pour hot water on the tire - that will make the rubber more elastic and that's what made the difference for me.
the other guy just stood on the tire and slowly made it happen...it was magical.
I have one of these on my uk model 2002 93 turbo convertible hot they make so much difference I also modified my front strut brace by welding extra bar in it’s a different beast now.
