The ZV-E1's sensor is just wild. It's basically night vision with a decent lens, and I'm impressed! Maybe it's what I'll upgrade to soon! Thanks for this extreme low light test. It's exactly what I needed.

For this retest, the Voron-3 is now fitted with a much brighter lens (Pentax 50mm f/1.4) to give the old tube a fighting chance against modern NV. Didn't help a lot in extreme low light though.

Not much difference now between Russian and Chinese tubes, and seeing as China is going digital they will inevitably get a lot better.

2k thermal is craaazy. Super interesting stuff :) with there being so much competition in the thermal market i'm guessing there's ough to be some advancments and cheap prices ahead

the p2 keeps up better with the nnvt than i thought it would, but i'd say the nnvt still creates a more usable image. Which means something a little more premium like a photonis high gain or elbit/l3 gen 3 would be seeing better. would be curious what fps the p2 was at in the extreme low light test. as the lower it gets, the less useful it ends up being for navigation. Man we are so close nowadays though. I think in another 2 to 3 years, dnvgs will have well and truly caught up.

This has to be the worse review I have ever seen. Usually when you do a review, its longer than a couple minutes.

shame about the video on the G14P2 in low light are there any digital NV devices you would recommend for video recording the night sky?

I am extremely excited about this company. The clip on thermal devices are trash compared to this company's fusion device. I have a lot of experience with analog night vision, and I haven't been this excited about a piece of equipment in over a decade. If this company's fusion device works as well as I suspect it to, then I will be encouraging a lot of people to buy this company's products.

From a suburban location with no moon, put a 685nm long pass filter or a 12nm bandwidth hydrogen alpha imaging filter on the front and see what you can see if the nebulae and Milky Way. That’s a hard test for Gen3 and a good mark of how close digital has got.
