The present COVID-19 outbreak means many people are working from home with networking programmes such as Zoom which means being on the iphone for long periods. I adapted this NYCNC design for my daughter to use and made it out of brass to give it a nice look.
Auxiliary Push Stick for Ripping Narrow or Thin Pieces of Timber
Просмотров 1004 года назад
I have often found it difficult to get the right Push Stick, especially for thin or narrow pieces of stock that need to be accurate for their entire length. I think this auxiliary push stick can do this. The added advantage is that the auxiliary push stick holds the pieces together all the way through the cut as it also holds down the thin pieces for the complete cut. I haven't come across a si...
Tea Caddy Made from a Tree Stump - Part 2
Просмотров 634 года назад
We had an old tree that was cut down out the front of our house. The stump had been laying in the workshop for almost 8 years so here it is being turned into a Tea Caddy. The video is rather long but rather than cut it down I though that some of the long clips may be useful if someone wishes to copy the design. For this reason it has been broken into two parts. The first part covers the body of...

Hovell was a whinging incompetent who wanted to turn back at the drop of a hat and failed to navigate to the correct destination and then to undeservedly claim the glory for himself only ..Hamilton Hume was the true leader and he deserves full credit...the real story has been passed through our family..my great great grandfather was Henry Angel one of his assigned convicts who after the expedition became a very close friend of Hamilton Hume
I suppose with the Hume Highway being one the best known Highways in Australia he ultimately got our recognition.
Does anybody know what piece of music is played at 1m20sek ?

@@Alex-ok7mg thanks!😀
Thanks for the upload 🙏
Maybe we should bring back gentlemen dueling 😮😊
Thanks for posting, great series ..
Truth and seconded. Thankyou.
Well that race turned out well for the vics didn't it
South Australia still struggling under a mountain of debt
Who would've thought a convict would lie?😂
Bill Peach. That's a blast from the past. Used to love watching his docos
I just discovered this series! Awesome. Must watch.
There is something special in the simple way Peach tells the story that is appealing.
@Alex, surely by now someone has mentioned that Voyager 2 Jupiter encounter was in 1979, not 1980. Thanks, BBC! They finally got around to us (PWS) at around 44:00. (The contemporary PBS special didn't mention PWS at all.)
Thank you for posting this jewel of a film.👍
Wolverton was a horrible man.
6:52 Ohrr so there from India now not Afganistan pmsl.
28:32 They left there phones in the bush Hmm i didnt no that they had phones back then my child.
Ha Ha, try "with they're bones..."
I commented on another video that they never mention Adelaide well I was certainly wrong with this series. Really enjoying watching them
They are pretty good.
No mention of Adelaide which was settled in 1836
My home state; we've always kept a low profile.
@@Alex-ok7mg low profile that's bloody funny .
Thank you so much for the documentaries on exploration
Many, many thanks for sharing this documentary.
8:12 That might just be Linda Morabito who earned a small place in history seeing the first ET volcano on Io.
Yes, indeed it is. I always found that discovery fascinating.
Very informative. I followed along on Google Maps, plus some other online maps of the journey. Many thanks.
I hadn't though of that - good idea
@@Alex-ok7mg Once again, many thanks for sharing. From San Diego, California, USA.
I just looked out the window 😂
@@raymondparnell439 Great! And what did you see???
Thanks, I frequently write about round the world flights, but I wasn't aware of this one!
It's amazing what you discover on old VHS tapes 🙂
Wonderful memories, so glad to see this on here. Me and some friends initially just went to sit outside the fence and listen to the concert, group of about 20 other people turned up as well, and we'd just settled in with our picnic rugs when someone noticed that they'd left one of the side gates unmanned with a gap big enough for anyone to squeeze through. What can I say, when an opportunity like that presents itself, it's a bit hard to say no. Still one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
Thanks Claire - favourite memory for me as well. We only really went for the concert that is why we were at the front of the stage - didn't help 🙂. A documentary (In Restless Dreams) on Paul Simon has been released and is being streamed now if you are interested.
@@Alex-ok7mg Thanks, I'll definitely look that documentary up. :)
Thank you for uploading this. They don't make documentaries like this anymore.
Where can I find other episodes? I can purchase them from you if needed Thank you for uploading this
The whole series is on the site.
@@Alex-ok7mg which site ? I’m sorry I don’t follow
Just go to my site and click on Videos and you should see all of them.
Thank you so much!! Was just talking to my husband about this amazing show I watched in primary school!! Good ol Bill Peach!!
Agree, Bill somehow made it all work. Many fond memories at my end as well.
massive vertical tail this glider has.
A lot of the extras are from the Forbes Aero Club. They were paid $27 a day I was told.
4:16 Not sure why they thought that, but the Titan IIIE only had a fraction of the thrust the Saturn V had
That comment has always intrigued me as well.
Because I was brought up and live in QLD, I think this was the Explorers episode which most piqued my interest, back in the day. I'm so glad that someone preserved this series on video tape, and now viewable on RUclips. Grateful to be able to see them again.
What a great series thank you so much for uploading! 🙏
i wish newzealand had docoumentation like this instead of their piss treaty stories.
Thank you for this jewel ! A lot to remember and see !! Could see George Mofatt and Klaus Holighaus, two of my idols by then.. as I was competing in Brazil's National Soaring Championship... and placed 12°...
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I remember you from the film. Moffatt was a hero to most of us glider pilots.
imagine being a guy named Ace, smoking a pipe and driving a voyager probe stuff was different in the 70s
Fantastic! Quite honestly, this series was a major reason for me becoming a history buff! So grateful that I can watch them again, many more times.
I feel like I've struck gold! The Explorers is one of my all-time favorite documentary series'. For years I have hoped to watch all the episodes again, but (until now) it was very fragmentary, as far as online sources were concerned. I am sincerely grateful that you have posted this on Facebook.🙂
Sorry, I meant RUclips! 😬
I was wondering about the facebook reference :-)
I agree these early programmes are just so hard to find.
27:34... That statue of Burke and Wills never seems to rest in anyone location for very long it always seems to move to some new location... I'm sure it's been cursed.... To forever find a new location.
was Burke and Wills one man or two i never no, guess ill have to watch n find out my good man.
Hamilton Hume would be happy to know that there are many important Reminders of him, but many of Hovell....
talented but definitely used bull dust to stir it up
Ok I'll bite what on earth are you talking about ?
These documentaries are absolute GOLD . Thank you
thanks
I for one would love to see the Murray renamed the Hume River. Why name an Australian river to celebrate an obscure Pommy politician rather than a True Son of Australia.
Awsome
Awsome
Can you still get these cheers
I arranged to have over 200 made and sold them all unfortunately. I'm sorry, but I don't think I will be getting another order.
I have been watching "Horizon" since i was a boy. Unfortunatley of recent years it has lost it's cutting edge desire for science. Instead has become a platform of political thought, which i find a deep loss. In many ways the same has happened to the Sky at Night.
I agree, everything is infected with politics.
Alex did you work on this back in 1984 or work for the ABC.
No, but an enthusiastic fan of Bill Peach's work.
@@Alex-ok7mg Well done should be brought back such an imformative series.
20:53, this simulation of Voyager 1’s encounter with the Jovian system is actually the rarest of Jim Blinn’s Voyager encounter simulations. This simulation was probably made sometime in 1979 before closest approach, and it features fictional depictions of Io, Ganymede, and Callisto.
You will not see a series like this ever again filmed in 1984 by the ABC for Public Schools teaching the exploration of Australia.
