15-30 McCormick Deering Head Problem
It takes a tough man to work out in the cold. I did it since I had to, but Lord knows I hated it.
I have worked outside most of my working years. I love it mainly I can do it at my own pace.
That was some serious mouse hose in the flywheel compartment. I hope the critters did not ruin the ring gear on the flywheel? Any idea how old the forklift is? Keep digging down and im sure more surprises are ahead.
Luckily the mouse house never affected the clutch at all. The Clark is a ‘49. Like all the machines I have they are older than me and dead or near dead when I got it. Great addition. I use it a lot.
@@beginlivinglikeaboss I could use a forklift but im cautious buying a very old one cause if something is messed up in the transfer case well...bad day to be alive. My region or the neck of the woods has too few for sale but I have a plan how to overcome the problem.
Well an older one is very basic and standard tranny and clutch. I paid $300 for it so was a good deal for me. I’d really like a small excavator.
She is coming along good how about a little info on Luna a good addition to the channel.
Luna is now 7 years old. I got her from a lady who couldn’t keep her any more. Great dog. Guards the place well. Stays outside with no collar or run of any kind. Doesn’t wander when I’m gone. She’s usually barking in the back ground when I’m recording. I also have a year old cat called Ezra. He likes to get into the show as well.
Later Gator!
Thanks for stopping in
Working at your own pace is the best thing ever!!
Playing ball with the dog is important. 👍
The slide bar looks very good for the age, most are bent and worn from people not putting the pin in but let the hitch from sliding back and forty.
On this machine because of Létourneau setup the hitch was never able to swing. Nicest drawbar I’ve seen on a D4
I wish you would build you a shop. You getting to old to work in that cold and snow.
Hopefully another shop some day. Till then I’m just glad to have a heated shed to keep the grease guns and motorcycle batteries warm for the winter. 🤣
Thank you Milt! I'm just very happy that those clutch links found a very good home where they will be used on a very good channel! Keep up the great work. 😺
You guys both good channels and all good people I chuckled when I seen you installing the thermoid I really appreciate your hard work.
Thank you for following and supporting the channel.
I appreciate all of th Cat guys on You Tube. You are all a wonderful resource in our own individual way.
We are all trying to keep the legacy of the early cat years in view of the world.
Lefty do it best me to good show Milt .
Appreciate that.
Been subscribed to them since they started with Lil Lefty. Before I forget I should to one more obvious thing for you as well :)
Thank you for following along and your support.
Thanks for doing all th extra work of posting your trials and tribulations.. I always enjoy seeing how you tackle problems without all the fancy expensive single purpose tools!
Thank you for the support and following along. Winter happened so not doing so much outside but I’m still moving along.
Thanks for the video. Always enjoy them. Love your positivity! When you encounter a problem, you just keep working at it until you overcome it. Can’t wait to see it running.
Thanks for the great support 👍
Could that draw bar be upside down?
The cat drawbar is in correct. Létourneau has an extension hooked in to bring it back behind the CCU. It looks odd for sure.
I have driven there several times: stupid idea; harder to grade out snow, and a person can slip or stumble. Crazy design.
It’s done now so time will tell for sure. 👍
keep up the good work
I’ll be doing that.
WOW! For you to give up on that engine it must be truly siezed! Well you give some and you get some, You win some and you lose some. Good video!
Not giving up on the engine. Just giving up on the method. A change of tactic required. The engine will be freed up.
How much dose the oxygen cost ya? No mouse house in the clutch compartment? That is what I call luck.
For sure. A lot of machines get mouse house packed into the clutch compartments. Makes it difficult to split.
@@beginlivinglikeaboss Usually if anything has had mice in it, its very badly corroded.
Great video Milt!! I like the run what ya brung way cause thats how we do!! Good luck on her and ill keep watching. Love the old iron .
Thank you for watching and believing. That engine will be freed up
some good, some bad. That's life.
Can’t win em all. Thats for sure.
Watching from the NWT again-39 last couple of days
Yikes. Temp plummeted to -4 here tonight lol
Squatch would not like those fold over locks on the fly wheel! D2 springs are u shaped with the high ends on the track frame I've been fooled by that before. There should be a grease point for the pilot bearing on the inside of the fly wheel
That was my thought on the locks as well. On the spring I’m thinking it’s ok and yes the ends are aimed upward from new. Once I get the flywheel off I’ll find the grease port and clean it all up.
Love the old iron. Evidently no cats allowed in the video.
Luna likes chasing the cat. Big game for those 2 tho.
@@beginlivinglikeaboss Kids wrapped in fur.
The TD-6 has the same engine as my old Adams grader.
International technology is found in a lot of different makes and manufacturers.
Awesome content Milt, I follow every video. I have 2 old D-4’s and a TD-6 I have to tear into someday.
You will be in for a treat! I hope to acquire a TD 6. Really interested in their system of a gas started diesel.
-32 here today, working in the shop, putting a new motor in 2010 Polaris Razor.
@ someday hopefully I’ll have a shop again.
GOOD Evening milt .good show .teeth missing for the starter .?.
Not for the starter but teeth missing on the fiber disc on master clutch. Shouldn’t be a big problem.
@@beginlivinglikeaboss what do teeth engage With ?.
The teeth engage with an inner ring gear on the flywheel. Instead of a splined shaft driving the clutch disk cat drove the disc with an outer gear assy.
@@beginlivinglikeaboss thanks milt have a gooden. 7 degrees in Central Illinois till Wednesday. Ha .
@ it’s been a mild winter here.
Thanks, Milt. Great show again!!
Thanks for all the encouragement.
That’s awesome
A lot of work ahead to free this engine up.
You would think with that much pressure with a jack it would make a movement on the piston.. What do you find is the best blend to loosen up parts
I believe all 4 cylinders are stuck solid. The jack has worked well for me but trying to break 4 is too much.
The bottle jack is a very clever idea. I'm going to have to keep that one in mind. 👍
In my need to free up engines that bottle jack and Clark combo has been invaluable! 😎
Milt, do you think the rings might be jammed out against the cylinder walls with rust between them and the pistons?
Yes I think they are. Got jugs soaking and will turn over once in awhile over winter. Waiting on parts.
Yeah it helps a lot to have the value closed off .....now I don't feel so bad am not the only one 👍👍👍👍
Some things have to be relearned again and again
I take it the pony was still running with those valves like that. They don't make 'em like that anymore
Yes according to the witness mark in the head that one valve just floated freely as needed.
It's good to be still able to get parts for a machine that old - unreal
@grabro3490 I think I can get what needed to get it running for sure.
Harder than kick starting a Harley!
lol. Sure is!
Milt u seem. To know old cats pretty well i am looking for a transmission dipstick and tube for my d7 17a only thing left on my rebuild
Sorry can’t help you there.
Cool i dont have anything that old mine is an 08 heritage classic
Old school,love it Excellent
More old school cool coming.
a good way to bend a rod but whatever works
My thought is pushing on a piston partially down its travel my 30 ton press would not bend it. It worked at any rate.
@@beginlivinglikeaboss what i did once on 6 cyl engine was didnt know witch piston siezed push one not sized bent rod on one that was
@edmcelhone4501 sometimes you win. Sometimes not
I forget, was he using anything to prevent the sleeves from popping up during this operation?
No. Of which in retrospect I should have had them locked down
@ Ok. Well, great videos! Thanks so much for taking the time to make them while restoring these old Cats!
Nice job , looks like freeing up
It was a real bear but got it done.
Oh she is free, now lets hope the rings are not stuck.
Ya maybe I should let some atf soak in
Necessity is the mother of invention. Love the creativity of your problem solving solutions!! Keep up the good work!!
You bet. Sometimes you got to do what you got to do.
another good show I am pooped too . that was a lot of work.
Seems I should not get any machines bigger than this ol gal.
MILT WINS AGAIN! Your patience and persistence payed dividends! My Dad may he rest in peace used to say that I could wear out an anvil with a flyswatter LOL! I HATE GIVING UP! GOOD JOB MILT! see you again soon.
Thanks for watching, I am glad you like it.
I had patience an persistentence one time.... I got bent rod....an a 6 year old .....still trying to figure that one out 👍👍👍
What year is the auto patrol is there hydraulics on it or is it all gear driven?
1936 Autopatrol 11. No hydraulics. Knuckle busting. 1st year of tandem drive.
👍👍💪💪💪
I’ll take the win.
Same motor as an RD6 ???
Yes it is. D6600 3 cyl
If they don't find you handsome they'll at least find you handy 😁
Being handy does come in handy
Well done Milt. That's good progress!!
Thanks 👍
