My favourite French skincare products are by Caudalie - especially their body lotion, shower gel and sorbet facial moisturizer. I discovered their line while vacationing in France. They were SUPER low priced in the French drug store in Provence. But back home here in Canada Csudalie is incredibly expensive.

Totally understand why after so much effort you are reluctant to leave and go back to your friends and family, but is Paris really worth the suffering? Unless you are married into a family of locals you will never be truly recognized as part of their community. Is this something you want to spend your life on?

i had heard/ read about Citypharma and came across it by chance on my trip last month. it was CROWDED but the checkout line was pretty fast. I didn't realize that it was popular bc of lower prices - i through it was just the city-wide sales happening at the time. I usually like the pharmacie in Forum Les Halles bc it's huge, but now that you did the price comps....I may need to brave Citypharma again next time I'm lucky enough to visit Paris! (FYI I bought Caudalie dark spot cream, Klorane shampoo and Botot toothpaste)

There’s also Pharmacie Monge near Arènes de Lutèce, which does very good offers and more high end brands too, but is also always packed. Pharmacie des Archives in the Marais does good offers and is never too busy (it still does Embryolisse, which CityPharma no longer stock); ditto the one in the lower level of the Les Halles shopping centre. But I often stay on rue St D and love the (full price) pharmacies on it for the sensible advice they give.

Well you struck gold and savings in pharmacy. Looks like you might be loyal customer for city pharma for cheap products and maybe prescriptions. Sometimes the best discoveries can be found by accident or unknown. Like groceries Lidl in my neck of the woods is my go to that I discovered two or three years ago been loyal since. Let’s go one step forward Alaska Airlines I liked when leaving Seattle to NYC which was American Airlines codeshare thing. Been loving the airline since in terms of service, so yea sometimes discoveries happen out of nowhere. It’s all about getting out there and see what’s there. You did well with the vlog keep going like how to transit (maybe after the Olympics), order baguettes, what’s cuisine your tried that was trippy etc. I think spontaneous videos or short (now being pushed) is something unique and more of you

Hi there, hope you're well and thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. It's great to hear about your preferences and experiences when it comes to footwear too ❤ I think the driving moccasins look lovely, I've always wanted to try a pair so I may put these on my future wish-list 🙂 Hope you're enjoying the weekend and thanks again!

Hi Lauren, you make me wish to meet you and make you laugh. That's ll probably never happen cause I'm just a random Frenchman from the internet, so I'll just try to help with some advice to hopefully make you feel a little bit better. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from watching this video, it sounds like your main source of sadness comes from your job. But I won't tell you to just quit your job. I will tell you to care less about your job. That's the French way. You have all the reasons to be proud about yourself for taking such a big step as moving here alone. But you really have no reason to be proud to make the top dogs of your company richer. This is a disease in the brain of all anglo-saxons culture. Even if you make 4 to 6k/month, you can be certain that you are underpaid for the amount of stree you have to deal with. Not saying you have to not do your job well, just saying to not buy into the "We are one big family" every company tries to sell you one way or another so that you do long unpaid hours. If you need to work more than what you're paid for, once you're sure you're not incompetent, the answer is usually that the company is purposedly understaffed. So don't be afraid of pressure from your manager, if you stricly keep between the limits of your contract and do nothing more, they can't fire you. To sum up, just try to deprogram yourself from this "work ethic" mentality. You know the saying the French "Work to Live", most developped countries do the opposite. Doesn't seem so great to have more money and no time to spend it. Then there's the bullying thing, which is difficult. Especially if you're bullied by someone who is a native speaking French and you're not. You don't have the instant "répartie" or the humourous response to make this person shut up and be laughed at by the rest of the staff. And it's even harder if this person's (I'm trying hard to not use "she" in fear of being sexist but honestly I'm 70% sure it's a she who was bullying you. That's my experience in an office anyways, especially the false accusation thing, doesn't sound like the kind of bullying men do. But I digress). My point is, I have no good advice against it, besides : stand up to them, be strong, make some snarly remark exactly at the right timing that will make everyone laugh at your bully's expense, but of course that's not a talent everyone has and you can't just change your personnality like that if if it's not your type. And there's the issue of keeping your flat, and I know in this arrondissmeent, renting a bathtub costs $8M/week, so you can't afford to lose your job or be a cashier if you want to stay there. So I wish you'll get better, and if you manage to spend less time at work, just immerse yourself in culture, and by that I mean anything, not just museum, can be movies, TV shows, books, cooking, just going to restaurants, or of course making RUclips videos... it doesn't even have to be french, it just has to be something you enjoy. In the long run, but not too long, since you've already proven your strong will by coming here alone, I will suggest to try to find a way to be self employed. You may not work less, or earn as much, but you will do it for you and decide how you anage your time. It's one of the few big steps I took in my life and I don't regret it, even if some month you're rich, some others you're poor. At least you don't have to deal with 62 managers on top of you. Or just marry a 86 years old billionaire and be done with 90% of your problems. That's what I keep telling my sister but she doesn't make any effort. :D Anyways, good luck, God speed and all that.

Hello random Frenchman from the internet, I hope you are well! Firstly I'd like to say a very big je vous remercie for the time you've taken to not only watch the video and listen, but also for the time you've taken to share some very helpful advice and a different point of view. I wondered where the famous French way of working to live was but I was living to work last year, so I agree with that you suggest and will try the opposite 🙂 About the bullying, you're right - destruction of reputation is a forte of women - I remember watching a video of Dr Jordan Peterson where he mentioned this and I had no idea what he meant until this year as I'm living it. It's truly shocking and very sad. And like you mentioned, even if I was fluent in French, putting someone down in front of others is not my way as that to me would feel as if I was bullying someone, and I wouldn't ever want to do that. Also, how did you know I had a bathtub and that it costs 8mil/week? 😯 I do actually have a bathtub which from what I've heard can be quite rare in Paris, so therefore I'm happy to pay the increased rent 😉 I also like your suggestion about self-employment and am happy to hear you no longer have 62 managers above you, it can be quite stressful. I think I have about 72 managers currently so I completely empathise and think it's great you had the courage and self-discipline to start your own business, this is not something everyone would be brave enough to do... The marrying a billionaire seems to be another logical choice, only problem being I couldn't marry someone simply for money, I'm too much of a romantic - maybe your sister is as well! Lastly thank you so much for making me smile and lol with your message, and with sharing this very sound advice, it made my day. Hope you are enjoying the weekend!

I love Sezane, own some of their clothes and have a long wish list from them. However, I would not keep any of these items as I think they are not a good value for the money. I wouldn’t buy their shoes mostly because despite the basic or unpractical design (apart from Paula babies), they are quite uncomfortable. I would rather opt for a shoe from an actual shoe company. As for raffia bags, again I think they are not that practical and mostly limited to a casual summer look. For that price point there are much better and versatile alternatives. Or if you are really going for that style, much cheaper options. With this being said, if I really had to choose between these, I would go for the raffia tote. I love the embroidery on the bucket but I really hate the bucket design and practicality in general.

I have just discovered you - you appeared on my "new to you"link! I have just done my shoe stock take, thanks to you. I too need to repair my long boots, same heel has worn down, obviously the way we walk! Having watched your video, I now realise that I am only happy in my flat shoes or block heels. I am donating five pairs to the charity shop. Three pairs with wedge heels never worn, too high. Two pairs of stiletto's - again not worn, what was I thinking?! I have subscribed - now binge watching your other videos. Keep up the great work.

I always wear a belt with any bottoms that have belt loops - it looks more finished and polished. I also love them for giving shape to dresses, many summer dresses don’t have fitted waists, especially linen ones (they are cooler if loose, but don’t look as nice on rectangular-shaped, petite me). Good leather designer belts are an item I tend to splurge on, they last forever so they only have to be purchased once (unless there is weight gain). Genuine leather footwear is breathable, softens, stretches and conforms to the foot shape, and it looks ten times better and lasts ten times longer, it’s all I buy. I tried two different brand pairs of plastic (“faux leather/vegan leather”) ones in the past and they both cut up my feet, never again. I agree with all your summer essentials.

The summers are so hot where I live, 35-40C, that I only wear linen clothing. I prefer skirt outfits and, especially, dresses, but also wear shorts and occasionally, trousers - all in 100% linen. This summer I finally have a full, all-linen capsule wardrobe, which is great, our summers last at least five months, so I need a lot of selection in linen. I have unlined or cotton-lined linen blazers in my basic wardrobe colors to add for cool mornings, these are hard to find and I’m always looking for more colors. I also love 100% linen jersey and Poetry/Wrap London and Banana Republic have some nice items in this fabric. It’s as cool as woven linen, but unlike it, it doesn’t need ironing (delicate cycle, hang or dry flat to air-dry). H&M also has some for those with smaller budgets, but they tend to be much too big in the shoulders and neckline and are too low-cut for me. I’m 164 cm, a fairly slender petite, but I can’t size down more because of my full/average bust, and really, with H&M’s cuts it doesn’t even help that much. They seem to design and cut for 6-foot tall, large-frame women. Nice video, thanks, Lauren🙂

Hi Kimberly, it does sound very hot where you live with those temperatures 🌞 so I can understand why you only wear linen clothing, congratulations on the 100% linen capsule wardrobe, that sounds lovely and I imagine it would have taken you some time and effort to curate ❤ Banana Republic has some lovely items so glad you mentioned the brand, I need to go back on to their website! It's also good to hear about H&M - I feel as a petite I'm starting to get a lot of my new wardrobe additions altered anyway so might check out their range as well. Thanks again and so happy you liked it! 🙂

Such a beautiful selection! Love your taste. You have such a lovely figure , look so beautiful in all of them. I love white all year round, but especially in summer. I have white tops, skirts, pants, shorts, but not a dress! I tried to find a perfect one the last two summers, but didn't succeed as I didn't like the oversize style in each store. This year I might be lucky enough to find one with more tailoring but still flowy and comfortable. Excellent video, Lauren!

It get's pretty muggy on the Paris metro during summer (which I'll probably start complaining about as soon as the heat arrives 😂). Thanks Irvin, hope you have a great Sunday 😘
