One of the great loves of my life. Love this photo of "Bernie"'s reaction.
She out-divaed them all !
Definitely autotune
Unerreicht !!!!
The wonderful voice of “the friar” at 0.33 belongs to Paul Plishka. What on earth is Bernstein’s photo doing here? He had zero to do with this Met performance!
The interviewer was an idiot
Tuvo una voz " orecchiabile " hermoso timbre. Además su belleza ayudó mucho !!!!!
She had such power and control. I understand her miracle daughter has similar skill. Perhaps she may usurp her mothers diva crown just yet. I love when her pianissimo sounds like a tiny shockwave fluttering in the air. To see her performance in the windstorm she seemed immortal.
This masterclass is hoe I learned this aria.
Don Carlo per favore🎉
unreal.. those top notes.. never heard anything like that
Acuto sforgato at its best!
I agree 100% Such voice control! She breezes through these high notes! BRAVA Ingeborg🎉❤❤
Stop breaking into my homes to spray your crap like a jealous territorial twat.

I totally agree. One of the greatest of all time. Transports you into another world. Huge pity that this recording is relatively little known.
In the picture there’s Bernstein. It’s another concert with Salome
very elegant voice and manner
Ну наконец- то❤❤❤❤. Необыкновенная ритмическая четкость оркестра, вы только послушайте !
If he sang like this in front of me, I would have crossed him to Hades and back a thousand times. It's not hard to imagine how both Charon and Cerberus were lured by this Orpheus...
Hard to believe that she sang this opera the very first time in the same week that she sang Wagner's Brünnhilde in Die Walküre!
h o w
I had the pleasure of singing with the late Ms Nadler many years after this wonderful class. She was a lot of fun to work with and it was undoubtedly a "voice and a half", a very powerful and fairly flexible mezzo. But she was never really at home on the top of her range and Eboli is notoriously tricky because it was actually composed by Verdi for one mezzo (Rosine Bloch) and then when plans changed, finished off with a very different singer, Pauline Gueymard-Lauters, in mind. That explains the divergent characters and tessiture of the the "Veil song", clearly for a lighter, more flexible voice (Bloch) and "O Don Fatale" for a far more powerful and dramatic instrument (Gueymard). Not that Sheila would have ever done the role on stage-- the voice was just too short on top and she always billed herself as a contralto. But isn't Ms Callas amazing! Even with the remains of her voice, and close to the end of her career/life, she could summon up the many facets of Eboli's mercurial character.
Meraviglia!
... Well, ...She certainly told him ! 😀
Maria y Bellini, genios.
Excelente ❤
"It's not my aria." Every aria is her aria.
Unbelievable!!
É trade market sua voz.
She just pierces the heart!!!
Quick word of an advice: you need to get some earmuffs when he's going for the longest note.
As charming as this clip is, I feel it also gives insight to the basis of her technique which was genius. We can hear she isn't opening up and singing super loud but rather she is keeping everything small and controlled which is like a spring board to then sing big in the same way - hence the dramatica coluratura label.. seems like singers today don't have control over their instruments the same way,,
Wao !

Caballe , Corelli e Cesare Siepi. Come avrà fatto il teatro a non crollare a seguito degli acuti dei protagonisti e delle ovazioni del pubblico. Serate magiche.
Superb. I have never heard a better rendition-never. Thank you so much for sharing this beauty with the rest of us.🙏🏼
The finest version I've ever heard
Adorata Maria Callas ❤️
quelle voix magnifique, une telle emotion ! merveilleuse Maria Ewing
She have different voices in every language she spoke, greek, english, italian, french
I now realize conductor Molinari-Pradelli sped up the tempo just a tad to the end. I wonder if this had been prearranged with Caballe? Some conductors slow it up to flaunt the "Verdi tragic chords" ....which would've made it harder for MC to do this!
Montserrat Caballé is the original Diva. She's always been my favorite soprano!
She’s not hitting a high note at 2:52 but oddly there’s an overtone that makes it sound like she is
Verdi himself would've stood up and cheered!
crystal shattering
That freakin sent shivers down my spin
I wish she had stopped performing on time. She didn't need the money or the embarrassment of coming on stage with a zimmer frame (walker) under her dress and croaking. So very very sad. I spent a fortune on tickets and truly wanted to leave, I was so disappointed. She destroyed her image.
Who sings the role of the the supposed Charles V ?
