NORMA (1831)
tragedia-lirica in two acts by Vincenzo Bellini to libretto by Felice Romani.
Above, is the scene and trio of the Act I finale (Perfido... Or Basti!). The trio consists of Norma (Marina Rebeka), Adalgisa (Anna Gorvachova) and Pollione (Sergio Escobar). Conducting was Fabrizio Maria Carminati with the Orchestra e coro della Fondazione Teatro Lirico 'Giuseppe Verdi' di Trieste. This is an excerpt from a live performance of the opera at the Teatro Lirico of Trieste, Italy. January 29th, 2016.
Here is a short synopsis of the scene, quoted from Wikipedia:
"Here, following angry exchanges among the three, in which Norma declares Pollione to be a traitor; while Pollione is trying to persuade Adalgisa to leave with him she angrily tells him to go away. When he declares that it is his fate to leave Norma, she encourages the young priestess to go with him, but the latter declares that she would rather die. Norma then demands that her lover go, leaving behind his children-and his honour. Then, the sound of the Druids calling Norma to the temple is heard. They report that the angry god, Irminsul, has spoken. Pollione storms out."

Marina Rebeka is a true operasinger and always VERY sincere doing her best.
Agreed!
her Middle Voice has its own dimension / existence... full body and mezzoish… u really cant believe this woman goes all the way up to a very clear F6....she sings this entire scene in genuine Mezzo color and body of voice as she should and then at the end she cuts both in half with her D6... her timbre is perfect for Norma, serious yet Feminine with a subtle personal quality
Marina's voice, like Callas', is sharp as a knife. It cuts through when it needs to but gleams at times too... She has a steely magnificence with steadiness in the three registers, and agility to match. Her middle voice indeed is rich and super-developed, in the style of a trumpet. She is quite golden age
Please spread more videos of her, a wonder like this can not be restricted ... a few weeks ago she sang the Three Queens, and the Vestale in Moscow .... does anyone have this videos?
@@rodrigoandrade1807 Spreading her artistry is something her voice will for sure do. Me and Lohengrin will of course upload some great moments from her performances... She will be a huge opera star, we just need to wait and see. I wish I had a recording of that recital, let alone have been in the audience! I will see her live in March 2020 as Norma and I will probably make a record.
N. Lidar GREAT CAN'T WAIT MY FRIEND. WORK IT WORK IT. She sounds absolutely stunning thank you for posting I discovered her a couple of weeks ago haven't had a chance to really hear her but I'm hearing here today. Sincerely Arnold Bourbon Amaral
here she was wonderful, a week ago in Norma at Capitole de Toulose she was Amazing! Brava!!!
Yes, yes, yes!!!
Greatest Norma.
Nothing to add to what's already been said here. Magnificent singing from all three artists. Thank you!
Always a pleasure to share!
One of the few who I’ve heard go straight from the B to the D... Maria always did it this way too.
Great!
I didn't cut out the applause for a reason! lol
Why should you? It's all theirs! :)
Note for those who will write nasty objections to my views below, I have heard every great Norma voice from Callas and Gencer, through Sutherland and Caballe to Sills and Eaglen live which is what my observations are based on.
I love how she goes from the B directly to the D. It's so musical, yet so rarely heard. It's astonishing how inaudible everything else becomes once she blasts that D.
She executes this in a way that has only been done before by Callas herself! She is a bright light in the very dark world of opera nowadays.
@@NLidar She is indeed wonderful. I hope to hear her live some time soon.
@@j.j.schlachtfeld9325 If you live in Europe or can go there, you might be interested in seeing her as Norma in Hamburg, March 2020. I'm going 👍🏻
@@NLidar You know what? I just might. I'll have to get some things in order before I plan anything, but it's definitely tempting. Very tempting, indeed...
Superb.
Perhaps an adequate Norma given the present set of available singers. Her lowest notes disappear into an aspirated gasp [the '"lo compi" which should be the first expression of Norma's fury; not only Callas but also Sutherland and Caballe were all able to let the audience hear this, altho of course it was emotively clearest in Callas]. Her middle voice is very good and has a small amount of emotional feeling [remember this is a woman with great power who has taken huge risks for her man and he has betrayed her]. The top D is simply shrill and sounds forced. If she really wants to move into these huge bel canto roles she will need to develop both the bottom and top of her voice so that they match the very good middle section.
The tenor isn't bad either....thank you 😘
This proves just how good of a listener you are... Pleasure!
@ Pammy Jones Indeed! I also immediately noticed that.
@@NLidar to me he sounded old school 😊 x
Buonasera
@@NLidar... Disturbo??? Sei a cena... Buon appetito!! Grazie Nuri dell' informazione su la Sig.ra Marina... vedremo.. chissà!!! Scusami dell'invasione serale e... Ave Nuri.. Elsa
@@elsaasta5164 Tu non disturbi mai ❤❤❤
She sounds very promising. Going from B to D is extremely difficult as you well know. But her D in time will have more volume. No one will ever sing this like Callas as you well know. I will certainly follow her thank you Lohengrin O per usual.my friend. Arnold Bourbon Amaral a great find indeed. Gracias a la vida amigos per siempre adio. It drives my friends crazy when I use Spanish & Italian I think after a couple. If years thet finally got used to it, HAVE a great day have a great life and have a happy tomorrow. ABA
