The Great Weapon Master... Monk?!? The Bonk! D&D5e
Просмотров 9162 года назад
A single class Monk using the Great Weapon Master feat! One of the criticisms of the Monk is that they don’t do much damage compared to other martials. Part of the reason for this is their lack of ability to wield heavy melee weapons, meaning that the Great Weapon Master feat (with it’s -5 to hit with 10 to damage) is not usable by Monks. This is a novel attempt to allow a single-class Monk to ...

    I absolutely love that this video exists. I was thinking of doing this as a gimmick for my next D&D character, and it's nice to have a starting point. I honestly think you built it perfectly, but I kind of don't want to end up just straight up copying someone else's character so we will see, but I appreciate that you gave me things to look at such as what spells and abilities come with the classes

    My Chef character was actually a Circle of Wildfire Druid. The Wildfire Spirit that he summons is the Sprite born from campfires, and he always collects the smolders of ash from previous campfires to start as a starter for new campfires. I would love RPing a cooking relationship with a Wildfire Spirit and a Druid Chef.

    Suds Mchammered is the best name! alchemists supplies would be fun to make potent brews. maybe even a shiv at latter levels to get that sneak attack die. Red nose, blood shot eyes and always up for a night on the town. A whip could be a good weapon prof, use SA and flavour as a kind of lasso/hemp rope found object, also cool for acrobatic stunts ala indiana jones. Halflings and Satyrs would also be good races for boozing. Kobold Press has a Beer Domain cleric which is pretty hilarious.

Nature domain for shillelagh and thorn whip could be cute and a little more wood elfy. Or druid for faerie fire, combines nice with elven accuracy. you're so right about the ki cost vs subclass abilities. binging all your vids. chur!

    the lore bard I'm playing for the last 4 years leans into the words of power angle rather than singing and dancing. These songs could also be named chants, like a kind of magical cultist. I'd like bards to have access to comprehend languages and tongues as a class ability at certain levels, maybe once a day for free. as masters of all words. and maybe pick up languages every proficiency increase. I think anything that moves bards away from the singing dancing gimmick would be important, it would attract players to the versatile nature of the support class. so less "songs", more chants, commands, sounds of support, sonic, underlying power of word, that sort of thing. Kinda like how barbarians are moving from the hulk rage thing to focus and intensity.

    Jump feature is fun on a Harengon barbarian with a ring of jumping. Barbarian ''I cast short range teleport'', as a bonus action, Wizard ''does he really?'' Bard ''no it's not really a spell but he jumps a 120ft''. 🤣🤣🤣😂😅😁

  • @jugglejunk

    I would say celestial warlock is actually better for getting rid of exaustion. 1 lvl earlier you can reduce exhaustion by 2 lvls per short rest (casting greater restoration after the rest you get your spell slots back) 3 times per short rest at lvl 11 and gives yourself max healing + familiar and a bonus action 60 ft when you don't frenzy. I don't know about you but I'll take that over ranger. 🤣🤣🤣😂😅😁😁 (especially because berserker already protects you from the worst of bad wis saves with the lvl 6feature)

    Berserker is mount/wheel barrel barbarian. ''I'm super tired wheel/drive me overthere and I'll kill 'm'', which is easier with a small race, because they can mount other -players- /PCs. ''Time to bring out the lance and my trusty steed ... Rob your supposed come when I call you.''

I think the feats are OK, but the classes are a little 'samey' and bland - I'll be posting my Bard review shortly.

  • @Legend-gu6yp
    @Legend-gu6yp Год назад

    It's kind of confusing so it's easy to miss but crossbow expert was buffed overall. While it's true you cannot BA attack with the same crossbow. The new rules allow you to dual-wield crossbows. And the attack action changes ensure you always have a free hand to reload them. As part of any attack, you can stow or equip a weapon. Combine that with your once-per-turn interaction you never have to worry about having a free hand to reload your crossbows. The buff 2 this feat being the ASI increase and no longer having to use your bonus action. Also, dual-wielding crossbows is just awesome.

    • @ShardPF2e
      @ShardPF2e Год назад

      I don't read it like that, I guess they need to make it clearer. It seems to me that you can draw or stow one weapon during your attack action, if you want to do more you have to have the Dual Wielder feat (which specifically calls out being able to draw or stow more than one weapon). I think you can fire both hand crossbows if you have them in your hands and loaded, then you can stow one and reload the other (with your free hand) ready for your next turn. They also use 'equip or unequip' in the attack action and 'draw or stow' in Dual wielder, which is also a bit unclear. Item interactions are also not clear yet in the new UA - 'use an object' action seems to have gone away, so I'm not clear how those will be done in the future either.

    • @Legend-gu6yp
      @Legend-gu6yp Год назад

      Yea its weird but in theory as part of the attack of one weapon you can stow the other weapon which will allow you 2 have a free hand to reload the crossbow. This works perfectly if you have a melee weapon in 1 hand and a cross bow in the other. If you want this rotation to work with 2 crossbows you would need 2 use your interaction every turn 2 draw or stow a cross bow. Technically thats how it works in this UA since they told us 2 use the 5e rules for anything not specified in this UA change. Also if 1 of the 2 crossbows have the autoloading ability(which artificers can give as part of the class) it works as well Edit: you actually dont need the interaction for this 2 work at all. Its confusing but if you start a fight with both cross bows loaded. And follow the shooting flow of right,left,left, right. Than it just works as written

      If I had to guess I think it will be removed 😉

    Some interesting changes, mostly good. There are some issues for sure, but time and playtesting will tell if they truly are issues. I think the "Inspiration on a Nat 20" is definitely abusable. I think if they limit it to "you can gain this inspiration proficiency times per long rest" it will limit it a bit, though may still be abusable. I guess we'll see. - The Innkeeper

    Lucky doesn't allow a reroll now, it only provides advantage - with the benefit of not having to state it before the roll like Inspiration. This is important, because advantage doesn't stack, and it seems like you get advantage a LOT more with just the changes mentioned in this first slice. I don't think things like this should progress using Proficiency bonus, they should just have 2 uses per day and have it Repeatable. Actually using Proficiency bonus for "uses" seems a bit strong in general, when the benefit inherently scales. Advantage has the same value at level 1 as level 20.

      I think Lucky works similarly to the way it did before, unless you were exploiting/gaming the mechanic (in which case it's been nerfed). I'm assuming the proposed Inspiration mechanic will be removed because it's also open to exploits - which will reduce the overall amount of advantage knocking around therefore making the new Lucky a bit more impactful. Anyway, we'll see ;)

      @@ShardPF2e The big difference is it's advantage(which doesn't stack) instead of rolling the extra d20. And the extra uses which is unnecessary. We will be using inspiration on nat 20 for anything that could inspire you or your ally - Attack yes, Con or mental saves now, physical skills yes, knowledge skills no..etc. With the right wording, the mechanic shouldn't be exploitable, or at least give the DM a reason to say no(aside from DM is always right).

    We have player crits deal +1d6 damage per Prof bonus, and enemy crits deal max damage. All crits can cause a wound as well, but that's a homebrew system I made up.

    Your advancing the D4 mechanic only encourages gaming the system. The only way to prevent gaming the system is to just ban it.

      You may well be right. If it goes back to DM discretion then at least the Human getting Inspiration once a day will be a unique feature.

      I'd just limit it to trigger against creatures - so successful attacks and saves. Even just attacks.
