Shure MV7 Upgrade. Is It Now The Worlds Best USB Mic?
Do both machines have to be macs?
I think Duet Display Pro works on Windows too
I can,t buy the adapter thoughhhhhhhh😢😢😢
Great 👍
Nice job Andy! Thank you.
I would like to use my 2015 iMac via the thunderbolt bridge method as you described, but not sure if this is what they are calling target display mode which I have read is not supported on this machine and Monterey os?
no that isn't target display mode, it should work.
Thank you for the video. One last part is missing in this video how do you actually record it. Do you still have to sync audio and video files in the post processing or audio is already backed in? Did you just powered up Zoom H6 and it is on stand by mode and you just press record on the camera? Thank you.
The recording of the audio takes place on the camera and not the H6. The audio should be synced with the video with any issue
@@CourseBuildersAcademy Thank you
Do you have any recommendations for exporting the video to RUclips? It seems like the final file looks all washed out again.
Beam my iMac up, Scotty!
I actually found that having my Rode Wireless ME connected to my Sony ZV1 for Zoom and Loom were out of sync. When I have connected my Rode mic to the laptop, and use the ZV1, this is better. Makes zero sense 🤯🤯
the delay is likely down to processing of the audio and the video, if your camera is not processing the video quick enough you get a delay. When connected to your computer, it's your computer that is processing the audio and hence the camera is under less load, this is the only thing I can think of
WOW, this was the missing key for me. Thank you!
I've been using a Canon RP mirrorless and get great results with my Camlink into ecamm for recording locally. The issue I have is when I use it on zoom (using either the camlink or ecamm video input in zoom) the quality is pretty bad. I have 1080 enabled on my zoom account but it looks like 720 at best for both the live feed and the cloud recording. Any ideas on how to solve this?
In your Zoom settings make sure you turn on "Group HD Settings" see if that works
Or if you don't have a Zoom Pro Account, in Ecamm turn on Video Monitor under the Output tab and then share that window in Zoom - you'll need two monitors to do this
Thanks for the quick reply! I have a business account (which I believe is higher than pro) and I have "Meeting-HD Video Quality" on and set to "Full HD (1080P)". I don't have any options for "group HD settings" under admin settings. Our internet speed is 580 down/31 up which doesn't seem to be the issue. I notice slightly better zoom quality when I use the camlink input on zoom vs. the ecamm input but it's still not great. I'll try using a second monitor and see if that helps!
a friend of mine did a video on this: ruclips.net/video/bHRcB4T1Vos/видео.html tell him I sent you in the comments, hope this helps you
@@CourseBuildersAcademy thanks!!
Thanks a lot! You are the best person for me! You saved me, you know, I suffered for 2 months.
Question! I have a Sony ZV-E10. To connect to my Mac Book, I would need a micro HDMI to USB C? OR Micro HDMI to HDMI and then purchase an HDMI adapter to USB C? Thanks so much Andrew. Your content is amazing.
you would need a micro HDMI to HDMI cable or adaptor and then you've buy the Camlink and use a little USB to USB-C adaptor like this: www.amazon.co.uk/Syntech-Adapter-Pack-USB-C-Female-Space-Grey/dp/B07CVX3516
Earned my like! My only other option was to upgrade my plan to modify the code.
Have you done a video on connecting the Sony A73 with the CamLink to OBS? I'm working through Troubleshooting and can't get them to talk with each other, downloaded drivers, updated software, etc., etc., still just a black screen on OBS...
If you’re using a PC, overclocking might be the reason behind the OBS black screen issue. While overclocking is great for improving framerates and performance, it can sometimes cause unexpected problems. Many users have reported that PCs with overclocking enabled are more likely to experience the OBS black screen. The fix is simple: disable overclocking on your PC and relaunch OBS. Once overclocking is turned off, the black screen issue should be resolved. I hope this helps
Best video ever! You helped me a lot! I have spent so much time looking for solution 🎉
this method not showing correct colors as in iphone...
VERY helpful video thank you! So just to recap, I'm soon ordering the new M4 iMac and will want to use my old 2017 iMac as a secondary display with it. Buying that red Luna adapter for $89 will allow me to do this without any subscription needed right?
Yes that works without a subscription, but I do like the Duet Display which actually works really well, but like you say it's a subscription which does piss me off a little
@@CourseBuildersAcademy Thank you!
Connecting your camera is now really easy!
Super helpful and saved me $25! Thank you!
Thank you very much, you've helped me alot
Why my mic start clipping if i scream loudly
Don’t scream
Very helpful- super thank you
the adapter shown at 1:54 is different from the one shown doing the actual connection at 2:20. did the first adapter not function properly?
they both work just fine, that was the one that I picked up and used. So long as you get the Apple ones you'll be all good
Bisous.
merci
I have a 27" iMac (mid 2010) and I bought a USB-C to Mini Display Port Cable from Amazon, plugged both in and it worked perfectly. Here are the details for the cable I purchased: vienon 6FT USB C to Mini DisplayPort Cable, 4K@60Hz Type C(Thunderbolt 3/4) to Mini DisplayPort Cable Compatible with iPhone 15,MacBook Pro/Air/iMac/Mac Mini/Surface etc (Not for Thunderbolt 1/2)
thannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnksss
not many people mention, and you also omitted the fact that Rode Wireless 2 has got 32 bit internal recording which Lark lacks. This is a big deal and kind of justifies all the hassle with rode central, etc
It is only the Rode Wireless Pro that has 32 bit floating point and this is more expensive than the Lark Max and therefore isn’t a apples to apples comparison
@@CourseBuildersAcademy that is where you are wrong. I have wireless go 2 and updated to current firmware version 2.5 it does have 32 bit internal! Just to be precise I've run the test now, recorded a clip and got 32-bit float confirmed in Invisor Lite
@@SupraKeroGas I think you will find you have the option to export WIGO2 TX onboard recordings as 32-bit float files, even though they are not originally recorded in that format. This conversion allows for compatibility with other files in a DAW Project that already have 32-bit float files. However, it's important to note that converting the files to 32-bit float will not fix any audio clipping issues that may have occurred during the onboard recordings. So like I said and also mentioned by Rode in their documentation, only the Pro version has 32 bit floating point audio recording.
@@SupraKeroGas You are incorrect in your assumption. The Wireless Go 2 can convert to a 32-bit float format but it can not record in it. While this software update will help with compatibility with other devices that do record in true 32 bit the Wireless Go 2 can not record in 32 bit, therefore it won't benefit from preventing audio from clipping or any of the other features that 32-bit recording has. I have the Rode Wireless Go Pro and also the Wireless Go 2 and I 100% know this is the case.
@colinrowland1113 Mine is at 2.5.0 firmware and can record 32-bit float internally. I’ve verified the files are 32-bit float indeed. I have no idea why you don’t get it with your wireless go 2. Are you sure you’ve properly updated the firmware?
This helped me set up my mic to camera ! Thank you for this video
Glad it helped!
2:19 Lol 😂
I didn't realise to after the event- but yep I found it funny when I saw what I had mistakenly done
Instead of powering the usb mic via a pc, would it not be easier to use a power bank?
You could in theory yes, it would of course have to be the correct voltage. You can also plug it into a USB power supply or a USB powered hub
In America 3.5mm is equal to 1/8".
I use a regular type c to c and it works perfectly fine. Don't need no special cable.
awesome value my friend.....thankyou
Straight forward and super clear for people that don't know anything about audio, like myself.
Thank you, did it answer all your questions?
@@CourseBuildersAcademy yes!
Perfection!
I like your energy bro 👌
Isn't this the same idea as just using a field recorder like zoom h4e?
It’s similar, but what I like about the Beachtek over my Zoom recorder is it’s easy to use and it’s built like a tank, you could drive a bus over it and it would still work. There is something nice about old fashioned knobs and switches and simplicity
@@CourseBuildersAcademy For this I am using a Tascam DR60. What I would find real innovation is a wireless kit connecting on the hotshoe, having a hotshoe (digital) and 3.5mm connectors (analogue), configurable audio in and audio out, give or take: with timecode. If that would then connect to a separate breakout box for XLR and Jack, that would be really awesome.
Thank you Andrew 👏🏼 your videos help me a lot
It's my pleasure, I'm glad they help you.
Thank you so much for your videos, they have helped me a lot!!!
thank you for taking the time to comment
Sharing my experience here: I’m trying to connect a MV7X (the previous version without usbc, only xlr) to my Sony a7iii via 3.5mm male to male jack, and to my MacBook with the shure XLR to USBC adaptor but it’s so buzzy it can’t be used. I tried everything but can’t get rid of the buzzy background. While instead, recording on MacBook via usbc is fine. The buzz is only on the 3.5mm wire. I changed the wire too with an Apple 45$ 3.5mm to lighting to listen in my AirPod max and the buzzy background is there too. My conclusion is, I suspect with the XLR to USBC shure converter connected to laptop there are background buzzes generated. I tried connecting it to a battery but seems to not work. After digging more on RUclips I think that only the MV7 (with usb built in port as the one in your video) works smooth straight to camera without buzzing sounds. So the conclusion is, guys, buy the model in the video with the leds and buttons and usbc, and not the older version.
I'm just in the process of editing a video on doing this but going in to the camera with a BeachTek which is a cheap interface but with high-quality pre-amps, I've used this with Sony cameras ( ZVE10 and A6400 ) with success and it also offers a host of other benefits too, it should be released in the next week.
This is the first video and I really enjoyed it. This is 10 out of 10. I'm going to buy a mic to use for A) live online classes where I teach via Zoom and B) to create RUclips videos at my desk. I was looking at the Sure SM7B + Cloudlifter + Focusrite Scarlet + SBX 286s (a channel strip processor). The MV7 could go straight into the PC via USB and it has some built in sound correction.. Would the viewers be able to tell the difference?
The SM7B is a very good mic, let's talk about that first If I was going to use a SM7B and I do from time to time, here's the setup I would start with SM7B Fethead ( cheaper than Cloudlifter and does exactly the same thing with no difference in quality ) I'd run that to the Focusrite. As for the DBX286s I wouldn't bother to start with, I'd see what it sounded like without that. I used to run into a DBX286s connected to a 166xs and frankly it was just a lot of messing about for a minor improvement. If I was going to set this up now I'd save the money on the Cloudlifter/Fethead, the Focusrite and the DBX and just get the Rode Pro Caster 2 and have everything in one box. But before I did that, before I even thought about buying a SM7B and opening up a world of complexity, I would indeed buy the MV7 and see what it sounds like, I think you'll find you get pretty much the result you're looking for at a lower price and without the hassle. Buy it from Amazon and if you don't like it you can just send it back.
question. when try my canon dlsr ...there is no audio... is it my canon? or the hdmi to usb adapter?
I think it’s only the later Canons that pass audio via HDMI, also some of the Canon cameras have a 30 min recording limit. I was a Canon man for over 25 years, but because of issues like this I switched to Sony for video and only use my Canon cameras for stills.
Fine if your sitting at a desk, but not walking around
Thanks for the clear info
can you record in s-log? if using a capture card like this?
you could yes, but if you're shooting in s-log you likely want to be shooting in 10-bit this likely would be an issue. Technically you could shot s-log in 8 bit but that is not really recommended.
@@CourseBuildersAcademy Thanks for your reply! That's very helpful :)
