I must confess to having been extremely uneasy about aspects of the "hate speech " bill. I felt it could be used to prevent us from expressing our genuinely held beliefs. Everyone has freedom of speech unless, of course, it is faith-based or a traditionally held value. It's definitely a time to be awake and challenge the woke.

Happy Christmas Father. Thank you for making this video as I think a lot of people are unaware of what is being taught or planned to be taught in schools. I recently tried to speak to my mother about the issue and she thinks I have gone nuts that this could not possibly be happening and also some of the parents of my child’s friends who can’t believe that this is possible. I have a 6 year old in a Catholic school and between the gender lessons and the Sphe training that is going on in DCU I am very concerned where this is going. It’s like one big social experiment. There is no risk assessment and the people who are teaching this are very one sided and are not willing to debate or accept anyone else’s concerns. Thankfully at the moment none of it is being taught in my child’s school that I am aware of but I am very concerned about what may be in her future. I absolutely agree with you about Enoch initially I thought he was a bit crazy. I am now completely behind Enoch and realise he is actually doing a great service for all our children in protecting them from information that is not appropriate for them and in the process is having his career and life destroyed. He is a man of strong moral courage and he has inspired me to try and do something. I hope that he gets released and an apology for all that he has been through. I did not expect a few months back that I would be willing to speak out for him.

For a while I was quite friendly with one of the other Burke brothers and I would have met some of the other brothers too but not Enoch. One of the key reasons that the family is not Catholic is that they believe that if you do not have a singular experience of being saved then you will be damned to hell. No purgatory. This issue was of special importance to them. When it came to politics and some of the campaigns that the family have been involved in, they always seemed to assume that their opponents would not be persuaded and that they were worthy of contempt. I think that this was because they believed that their political opponents were beyond redemption and had already been damned to hell. I think Enoch viewed the school authorities and the relevant members of the judiciary, his political opponents in this case, as being beyond redemption. Therefore, his primary aim seems to have been to highlight their corruption hence the interruptions of the school church service and the court proceedings. I think he should have behaved more ‘diplomatically’ and put more emphasis on persuading people of the injustice it would be to endorse a child’s confused beliefs. He should have acted in the hope that the school authorities would have been persuaded by his views. If he was still sacked, try to rectify that through the courts but if that doesn’t work let his witness be his willingness to give up his job for the Truth. Why keep showing up to a job that you have been sacked from? He can object to the decision without showing up to teach when he knows he will not be allowed to.

Thank you Father, but this just shows how embedded the Catholic Church in Ireland has become imbedded in the woke culture which has become a cancer in the instructional (Catholic) in Ireland over the past two decades. I’m an Irishman in my 70’s living in England for the past 36 years and it’s unbelievable from my eyes to see how far the church in Ireland (including bishops and priests) have fallen into almost total apostasy in that time. Leaving the sectarian matter to one side Which is pretty irrelevant in the greater scheme of things, gender ideology should never have been given the light of day in our schools. No ifs buts or ands. Gender dis functionality is not a physical or mental disability, but rather a spiritual one and must be treated accordingly. This applies to homosexual and bisexual issues - and many other disorders also. The second point to remember is that the determination of the political system in Ireland is entirely corrupt and there ineffective in maters of morals - especially Catholic morality. Ireland purports to operate under a democratic, party political system whereas, in fact the government actually consists of a collection of different Marxists entities, though some parties are also communist leaning. The church in Ireland has a responsibility to keep politicians in check, but the bishops have been so frightened by the abuse scandal, they are terrified to move a muscle…. Because they are weak, or so it appears. Personally, I have never doubted about the validity of Enoch’s position in this matter and came to the conclusion that, regrettably, the priests and bishops of Ireland had become Marxists also. I believe that’s the way Jésus sees it - He who is the way the truth and the life. I am still awaiting a collective apology from Irish bishops to Fr Sheehy for the appalling manner in which they treated him, but will it ever come? One thing is for certain - I’ll keep reminding them as this must happen before they can begin to recover themselves. So Father, this blog is welcome even though it is far too little, but hopefully not too late. The Church has far more power that it’s clergy think, but it needs courageous clerics to wield it! Fr Brendan, thank you for your carefully considered attention to this issue. My view is that I disagree with the point of view that we should behave sheepishly and give the knee to the system which is fundamentally corrupting our children's minds. Consider paying attention to the young minds of children who may be persuaded to have irreversable surgery and subsequently may be suicidal ....is this what the "nice" "polite" people of this country want .... I would say that this is what we are bowing to. Christ, before they crucified him, reminded his disciples that some of them will deny knowing him. So Brendan, have I got this right? Initially, you identified his actions at the school were wrong. The same actions that led to his suspension for gross misconduct against the principle and eventually to the court having to take an injunction which he ignored. But because he has continued to flout the law that somehow turns his initial actions from wrong to right? Is this your position? Don't forget Brendan, hes not in prison for his beliefs. He's in prison for personal decision to abuse the principal in public and then refuse to follow school disciplinary policy and a court injunction.

Yes ,there are many things wrong with some people in the church , there are many good people also. The Gospels can not be changed to suit the modern world and its slogan , for the greater good . The bible is divinely guided ,there are some things that are puzzling or hard to discern , and that's its beauty , not perfect but enough clear guidance on how to live in christ . There are many different churches with different views and Interpretation. That's the great debate , it allows us for our own opinion. It's all about the personal relationship between you and Jesus . There is too much pointless fighting on difference of interpretation, the focus should be on the cross ,we all agree on that .

So you are right, Father, to ask: “Where is diplomacy getting us?” Where it is getting us is into the sort of Hell that we avoided, at the cost of millions of lives, during 1939 and 1945. And now we are heading back into that Hell, only it’s through a slightly different door. Let’s give up the diplomacy before it’s too late.

So you tell us that you have gone from ‘outrage’ at the Burke family’s behaviour to some sort of insipid support for their eccentric behaviour. They and their quasi religious beliefs are the Moving Statues phenomenon of this decade. In order to assist you making up your mind on the Burkes perhaps you might tell us your views in hindsight on the Moving Statues phenomenon which also had many ardent supporters.

I always believed Enoch Bourke. He is a very strong character and stands for what he believes I am sure he thought that there would be thousands of Irish Christian people supporting him when he took this stand but instead nobody came out and so of course his family have to fight for his freedom .....who else is going to do it ? Enoch didn't do himself any favours when he stepped over the line, there's clearly a case that he has a legitimate grievance with the school infringing on his religious liberty, and he was right to defend himself, but he would have been well served if he had stepped right up to the edge of legal protest without stepping over it, in saying that the Burke family are showing tremendous courage in the face of extreme persecution for their Christian beliefs, and fair play to them for that, a people with such resolve will never be subjugated by tyranny. Thank you for your honesty, the fear the church exhibited during Covid verged on cowardice, as a church goer I’m still becoming uneasy attending church as of the 3 churches I attend they still have not brought back the human being connection of hand shaking when we give peace to each other. Why?, on the footing of fear from an exaggerated Covid that is now dead in the minds of most people.
