Neglected GS750 Revival Finale: Fixing Everything to Run and Ride
In this video we finally finish the GS750 by addressing all the things to make this ride safely; brakes, tires, and suspension all rebuilt or new. What started as a "Will it Run?" video, has now culminated into a solid running and riding vintage Suzuki. Is it Ever Worth Buying a Project Car?
Просмотров 545Месяц назад
This video could seriously be over an hour long as there is a lot to cover on this topic but this is a brief overview of some common pitfalls, traps, and failures to look out for and help the decision making process of getting a project car. I feel like I have to say that this video is not financial advice, and if you did buy a project car that turned out to be a pile its not my fault.

      That's pretty tempting to do, but the big problem is that having a fully prepped rally car is a big financial expense and takes a lot of time. Let alone engineering a competitive car. Rally cross was definitely more time/budget friendly and at the end of the day I still have a car I can use on the street.

    Replace the fuel filter pressure and the o2 sensors. Give a good clean for the MAF sensor, vanos solenoid, throttle body and valve intake. And like you said replace the valve gaskets! Replace the Valvetronic motor when you’ll do the gaskets. Easy fix and fun to do. 600$ great deal 👍 Good job 💪

    I think something you glossed over was daily driving. Do not daily your project. It is not worth the headache and struggle of not being able to get to work. Also, i dont think people buy cars because they want to improve their "problem solving skills" they have a passion for the look, sound, and feel of these machines, but may not know how to work on them.

    • @Dan_And_Daves_Garage
      @Dan_And_Daves_Garage 19 дней назад

      Daily driving a project is a bad move. Can't touch on everything otherwise this would be a 2hr podcast. We may just be different because both David and I enjoy learning while solving tough challenges. Some people build PCs, some do woodworking, and others like us build cars and motorcycles. Each activity requires you to use your brain, and then at the end, you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Cultivating your problem solving skills is an added benefit to each of these, even if it is not the primary reason for the activity in the first place.

I friend of mine has offered free to me a 1978 GS750 thats been parked outside ( covered) for years here in Connecticut, and not running.We sure didnt have the colortune back in the 80s, but vacuum guages im well familiar with. Ive owned two GT550s Suzukis in the past, !981 GS450 EX, GS1100, and presently a low mileage vintage HD Sportster. Ive read reviews on the GS750 and they were great street cruisers.

      The GS750 is definitely a fun street cruiser. Plenty of power to get yourself into trouble but still relatively tame compared to modern sport bikes. If that GS has been parked outside, I imagine everything is super corroded, but should still make a solid project and has potential as long as it's all there

    I think its absolutely worth it, if the point of the car is not to drive it, but to build it. If its a hobby building cars then the cost and time doesnt matter as much. You build it when you feel like it, and the knowledge you gain is possibly invaluable for the future. If you buy a project car in the hopes of commuting with it then you are looking for a car, not a project.
