This makes no sense

Easy answer. The lore became complete and utter nonsense after FNAF 4 simply because fans didn't like the idea that is was partly all a nightmare from the crying child. Which could've been easily remedied by simply acknowledging that the murders and hauntings sill happened. Fnaf 4 takes place before 1,2,3. So in 4 we play through a kid's nightmare. but in 1,2,3 we can still be an actual security guard who's dealing with the aftermath of the Pizzeria's haunting past. That's the Five Nights At Freddy's I cared about when I was young. All those wishy-washy high-tech, sci-fi Bull introduced in Sister Location is ridiculous.

I always thought they looked like that because the suits where on a endo 02 instead of the proper endo 01 which is why they look stretched out and why chicas head didn't fit

because they ain't the same, the withered are the fredbear & friends "originals" that have withered down and after fnaf 2 closed they just were left there to rot.

I don't hate this theory, but sometimes the real answer is just the simplest answer. They could've just been refurbished and renewed and just that like how it actually went. FNaF's lore is complicated, but that doesn't mean that all answers for it should be and I know you know that. Cool video still and you managed to make me interested all the way.

My theory is that the withered are the same as those from fnaf 1 but since many years have passed since whoever used them to make the animatronic toys, it is known that they were not going to make it to the future to be used for another pizzeria.

I ain't super deep in fnaf lore, but I hate how people just think that reworking something is impossible and unlikely. Fan fact, crazier stuff had happened. There is a ship that started it's life as a container carrier and ended as cruise ship. So what that it looks different? Jaw opens differently? Jaw hinge had been moved. Feet has different number of toes? One was cut off. Different proportions? Sections were cut off. After Williams attack they were mostly in pieces. Casing, being the weakest, would had such heavy damage that it would had been smarter to replace em. Internals also could had sustained major damage, so higher ups could had thought, that if they are already gluing together and replacing bunch of pieces, might as well update design.

I know I'm looking back on this from the future (after the movie has been released), and though I like the energy of this theory, I think I would have said the same thing if I had seen this video prior to the movie: I think all the VR/AR/"spirits in the machine" stuff is present canon, and largely unrelated to the "original" story told by the first 6 games or however many. (Vanessa being introduced is a strange wrinkle, though). Maybe they'll do a novie more related to the digital aspects of the series, but only after this era of gaming ends. Scott would the want any players or theorizers to actually know what was happening in Help Wanted, Security Breach and Ruin ;)

I feel like this is a weird and kind of dumb question, Fazbear Entertainment has been shown to cut as many costs as possible, meaning they could easily just retrofit the endoskeletons to fit into the FNAF 1 suits and just use parts from the Withereds to make the FNAF 1 animatronics

I think the reason why they look so different is because there new suits but as what he says in the video about the endo jaw being different I think that since they got destroyed the jaws or libs got hit which most likely moved the endos body making them need new casing which is where the fnaf two suits come in

tl;dr The withered animatronics WERE the original appearance of the fnaf 1 gang, however when they were moved to the fnaf 1 pizzaria they were refitted completely

heres my theory: when they were reopening freddy fazbears pizza for the third time they took the old animations (the withereds) and remodeled there old heads to look like the newer and improved animatronics (the fanf 1 animatronics)

I absolutely adore this theory and I think it really does tie all these lingering questions into a neat little bow. I never even considered the design changes that the Marionette and Baby went through as an explanation for Golden Freddy's inapplicably changing hat and bowtie. I also love the explanation you gave for the FNAF1 design of Golden Freddy. The idea that Golden Freddy was always a withered animatronic, and (one of) his spirits trying to change his appearance to resemble that one Fredbear from all those years ago honestly makes a lot of sense. It work regardless of whos possessing the design: If its the crying child or both, its just a baby brother trying to let Micheal know that it's him. If it's just Cassidy then he could just be tormenting Micheal by reminding him of his own past actions, basically telling him know that he sees him as being just as guilty of his father, which would change the meaning of the "IT'S ME" messages from a baby brother trying to contact his brother to a vengeful angry spirit of a child referencing the fact that he was the character that ended his brother.

i liked the interpretation that the box was supposed to have affredbear mask for the crying child on his birthday that never ended up being used. doesn't seem like it effects the lore too much, so idk lol
