I have to apologize. As I watched, I first thought, this guy must have attention deficit disorder. But when that beast came out of the water, I realized the captain wasn't about to let anything get in the way of landing said beast. Congrats!!!

How do you find a place to catch halibut?

Are you shitting me? What kind of sport is that when you're using an electric reel? I just lost all respect for you, Captain Zac and anyone who uses that type of reeel.

Caught some at 450 feet in August at Neah Bay. Hand cranked rods. :-)

Awesome! I’ll try that rig next summer when I’m back in Petersburg. We got electric reels last year and caught halibut on them. Gotta try for Black cod!

What a beautiful ocean. We caught some Chum this past Aug. out of Sitka and I was putting them back until one of the guys in our group said they wanted to keep them. End result was that some of them ended up in my frozen fish box when I got home. I smoked them and found them to be excellent. We will no longer consider them undesireable. Thanks for another enjoyable video.

Really love your Channel. I think we all really appreciate MARY THE COD QUEEN! You are the luckiest fisherman I know. Not only does your wife allow you to fish but she loves to fish with you. Are you blessed or what? I've watched your channel for a long time now and feel like part of the family. So, is it okay then if I suggest that maybe it wouldn't be a good idea if you were to let Mary start setting the hook for you? She seems to be a natural. I bet you'd save a lot of money on liniment, though. I'm just sayin'.......... How would I know, anyway? I don't even have a boat, or a wife. I'll tell you what though, I'd be willing to move all the way to Alaska. There's got to be plenty of God fearing women up there that own a boat and could love and old guitar picker like me. All things are possible to them that believe and it's never too late for love. Who knows, maybe one of your subscribers up there knows of a perfect woman for me. I would be very interested. Just have her send me a picture of her boat and will that love have its way.😁

Thanks for another great video. I have fished out of Petersburg for 12 out of the last 15 Summers and just love that area. How far out into Sumner are you fishing? We tend to avoid that deep water since we have always done great in 90 to 150 feet. Even caught a 145# where I could see the bottom. That was before I learned to target the prime eater size. 45-65. Keep up the good work. We are out here watching.

Halibut fishing is on my "Bucket List".

How much did this monster end up going for?

Geoff here. I was fishing with Capt Zac that week in Alaska. What a week we had! We also managed to hoist that 336 lb halibut up from the deep which was close to triple the size of my prior biggest fish. Fall is coming now, and with it comes some awesome days hunting and fishing. But I so appreciate the friendship that I’ve built with Zac. The fun on the water and shared intel we’ve both gained through our years on the water is priceless. I appreciate how well he’s captured some of our “fish-capades”, on video, through shared voyages in AK! So fun to look back every once in a while and say “That was magic!”. Thanks Capt Zac!

Are you using Daiwa SEABORG 500MJ reels? I'm thinking about getting an electric reel for next the halibut season in Washington.

Good job! Couple great eaters! 50# line a bit light but makes it to be able to fish 24oz and lighter jigs and still get deep. Years ago I used 80# braid and now 65#. Common to use 32oz or 48oz to get down and hold bottom with heavy current drift around here.

Great job on that Halibut action there Zac and Jeff. Just got back from Sitka myself. Had a few good days there. Good luck on future trips.

Been a busy summer and had to let you channel slide and binge watch them later. Plans got changed and my trip to AK was foiled :( Big disappointment.
