Sorry but have you used a saw before?
Yeah
The best one I've seen yet.
Thanks!
Very impressive mill. First time seen one . What is it called ?
Thanks! It’s a Mahoe Minimax
Music was too loud, distracting, and obscured the dialog at times.
Yeah but the info was A1
What was your concrete mix composition? What did you do for footers? Are you pouring a basement floor?
Nice machine. I would also bag the sawdust as I go.
That thing is bad to the wood 😅
Nice saw, you don’t have to turn the logs.
Everything is safer and easier when the man running the saw is paying attention to person helping!!
Why didn't you vibrate the walls
This bothered me, no vibration?
I was/am also concerned. Especially around/under the windows and the corners, tho generally everywhere. Other ICF videos I watched vibrated everywhere gently & briefly so as not to damage or compromise the forms.
Im in south africa would love to know the price of one. Both😊
The kid down in the hole with a little piece of plywood acting like he's reinforcing during the pour - dangerous as hell. If that blows out, he's deep enough to get crushed and pinned.
What annoying music... can't listen anymore. 💩
Stop with the bullshit music. Not here to listen to that!
How are you getting the horizontal cut?
Can you do some numbers how much everything cost?
Yes, when I get the frame together and closed in next month I can do a cost breakdown video.
@@SharpeTimber thanks bro
Yall look so happy! Cheers!
We are very excited! Thanks :)
A couple saws with more teeth would do wonders for that set-up........make even faster passes
Oddly satisfying. First time seeing this type of mill.
Did you pour the entire height at once? Do you have to? Can you pour like 4 ft all the way around every few days?
I did it in 3 passes around, but you don’t wait for it to dry. You just keep going around until it’s to the top.
@@SharpeTimberthe question was if you have experience to pour concrete in few sets within 3-5 days using concrete mixer,. ,it is not easy to keep going while it still wet,.. we are humans you know… concrete pump and spinner cost sh¡t load of gold.
Wish I was young again and cutting boards and building a house 🏠 😂❤
I have worked in construction and construction related fields since I was 7yrs old and now 48 I have never had any serious problems from no eye protection. Generally speaking most offered eye protection hinders you in one way or another. Most are cheap and if it was something that could cost you an eye those cheap glasses aren't going to save you anyway. Probably just end up with some plastic in your eyes as well. The thing that is required is common sense when working. & Still if the eye protection makes someone feel better then by all means use it. Just saying I rarely have & I'm still fine 40yrs later
All good until you need glasses and you will hate them, I recently had a piece of triangular offcut catch the saw blade on my table saw, it embedded 3 inches or 75mm into my forearm. You are correct in saying that the power or force involved with injury is usually high, the difference between a scratch and lump on the face deflected by broken safety glasses is way preferable to a perforated eyeball or ruptured blood vessels in the eye. Just saying
Excellent idea. Can one blade angle to cut bevel boards ?
No the blades are fixed so we can’t to that, we do have a Lucas mill that can cut boards like that for siding though.
@SharpeTimber Thank you 👍
Great job mounting that log there, it didn’t move at all. Fantastic work and a great design of machine.
Thanks!
Worked on a ranch that wad fly in only access that had a mill just like this one. It was an amazing machine i only got to stack the boards being produced, however we could make a pile of saw dust in no time at all.
They’re pretty amazing and make sawdust fast for sure
Your helper needs to get off his phone and get his ass to work😂
It’s my dad and he was trying to time the boards being cut
Geart cutting machine, However the guy picking up the cut lumber was stepping over, fumbling when moving wood scraps and looked unprepared to handle the job. Kind of dangerous. Great video, very clear focus.
Just a neighbour…….helping out 😂🥲
So that log was worth $384.
The worst helper. Halfass stacker!
Why do video makers feel they have to play music. 👎🏻👎🏻
Because they are builders not video makers, cant be good at everything 🤷♂️
Why am I watching this... I now have a heaadcache from the noise OMG
Good stuff
Thanks for watching!
that its beaaast !!😎👍
There looks to be a lot of slack in the cable
I didn’t see you guys vibrate. The wall is that not needed or was it just not part of the video?
We did vibrate from the outside with a sawzall that had no blade on it. If I did it again I might get a proper vibrator to help around the windows mostly.
You can make a small fortune with your own sawmill. You just need to start with a large one. 😂😂😂
Haha true, also supporting equipment and lots of jobs to keep working.
Hello, what is the the blades diameter?
That’s a great piece of equipment
Yes it was great!
Great saw. About how much would one of these saws run in price?
Thanks, they might be around 45k now
45k in which denomination? Usd or Aussie dollars??
you're so lucky having beautiful assistant ....keep up the work guys.
Cut from the other direction for making blocking. You want to cut on the waste side. There’s a larger side of the plate when cutting from the opposing side. Less chance of kickback.
You’re right, good idea!
Curious on cost. We're about to build (no basement, just a foundation) and are debating hiring out a traditional foundation or doing ICF ourselves. Can't seem to gauge the cost benefit.
Counting the excavation, footings. Drainage, Gravel, icf with rebar and concrete, and cement floor I spent about $23000 cad. I got the walls and floor quoted for $43k not counting the excavation. I did everything myself with help from family
Looking good!
Looking forward to the raising of the timber frame!!
Anyone know how this icf cost is against a form contractor cost wise ? How much $ are form guys getting per yard installed ?
I was quoted 42k for foundation and floor using traditional forms and that wasn’t including excavating. Doing it myself with ICF was about 23k including excavation.
Máquina interessante pena que no Brasil não tem quando aparece é muito cara
Does the $1.75/sqft include all the other costs to buy the log, the mill time, cost to dry it etc? There is certainly something to be said to milling your own building materials. The big one in my eye is total quality control.
No not really, was mostly counting my costs like, logs, fuel and moulding. It only is that cheap when you have 200k of equipment lol but if you were to buy logs, get them sawn, dried and machined you could still make out pretty good.
And im assuming its recovery product off of beams? @SharpeTimber
Nice machine! Elora? State?
Yeah! And it’s Elora, Ontario.
The guy tailing off the saw needs to remove the boards faster and get his ass in gear
Awesome video and work, Always wondered do you need to vibrate the concrete to help it settle in the forms?
Thanks! It’s not a bad idea to vibrate the forms, there’s a lot of things in the wall that could make cavities. We vibrated it from the outside with a sawzall
@@SharpeTimberI'd like to see how you vibrated with a Sawzall, as I haven't heard of that before. Nose to the wall? Or handle to the wall?
