When we were taken in the transatlantic slave trade, we retained and transformed in an effort to maintain. Like fish in an ocean we are different yet we are all fish. Each child calls her mother by a name; momma, mommie, mom, mother, ma, mother dear, and many more and the mother always answers :) It is through and with the Blessing of the Mother Yemaya as this child calls her, that we have survived. What a blessing to look at this dance from AFRICA and know we Remembered! my brother,we know.
