I'm so happy to hear this! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Hello! Which arm are you considering the “top” arm when you say to engage the obliques and hip flexors more? Is the “top” arm the overhead arm (which is also the one closest to the floor)? Thank you.
@@ariawastonpolefitness top arm is the one closest to the ceiling ☺️

Thank you so much for this tip!! I got my Janeiro for the first time ever, in part, due to these crucial bits of information! I did need support from my instructor to make sure my placement was right but honestly focusing on Leading with my hips was the trick. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! 4 years in the making!! ❤❤❤

So good! Can you give tips for how to engage the core and breathing pattern?
We want to make sure the belly does not "balloon" or "puff outwards" when we pull the legs in. you want to press the abs down and engage from the low abs and hips as well. I go in depth into A LOT of core engagement details in my pole and flexibility programs on my Pole with Steph App for iOS & android! You can read all about it if you're interested at www.stephanietallant.com! inhale should be pulling the knees in and exhale should be the hardest point when legs are straightening up towards the ceiling.
Yo siento que cuando lo hago me gana el peso de las piernas y todo y me voy :( no puedo ayuda!!!!
Seeing a video would be super helpful so I can see what your body is doing specifically :)) If you feel comfortable, post an attempt to this free community feed and I'll take a look! polewithsteph.com/community. Usually what happens is the leg comes forward (into hip flexion) and this is what makes our legs and hips very heavy. It's important to keep as much glute engagement as possible so the legs stay behind us (in hip extension) during the transition. I like to say.. act like you have a $100 between your butt cheeks and you can't lose it lolol
Wonder if I could do this on static since you can get way more momentum from the flair 👀
Yes you can do this transition on static!!
This is a very beautiful and thorough video regarding the split. I am currently struggling with letting go of the hooked leg. I dont understand the balancing part and opening the spilt. Can you suggest a way to let go of the leg and open into a spilt?

I'm having problems holding the Russian layback (my knee hook... unhooks). I think I'm not squeezing the pole the way you explain. I'm going to try it next time 🤞❤ I think it will work ❤ thank you for your tips

does this require "crazy" flexibility?
I'd say it more so requires a high level of body awareness on the pole and a thorough knowledge of the correct technique. Comfortable brass monkey pencil and a certain level of back and hip flexibility is recommended! I have an in depth tutorial breaking down all these topics here: polewithsteph.com/catalog/search?search=janeiro

Ok , ow but wow 🤩
@@JessicaContardo-tc5jh thank youuu!! 😊
It's so beautiful❤❤❤. I wonder how you secure not falling between the russian layback and the brass monkey. 🧐
Thank you!! First is a strong engagement of the hamstring on the right leg (that knee pit is holding on for dear life!!). THEN the correct push and pull technique with the arms come into play!
@@StephanieTallantthank you so much for your answer. The force is strong in this knee pit 💪🦵

I need to try this next time I’m poling!! Thanks for such a good, thoughtful tutorial!!😍👏🏼
I started pole dancing about 2 years ago one week before my 60th birthday! I had major dreams of grandeur because you guys make it look so easy 😂 it's so not! I probably try to do Twisted Jasmine 10 times in the past 2 years randomly here and there and said absolutely can't even find the pole. I left it alone for a while and the other night I grabbed the pole and couldn't even make a pretty move I just shook the pole back and forth with both my hands because I was so excited I had a grip on my bottom hand like it was super glued! I'm here because I want to watch you do it. You're such a beautiful dancer!
Omg congratulations on your big win!! Thanks for sharing your story too- it's amazing!! And I'd love to see your twisted jasmine babe! I have a free public forum for anyone that wants to join! Marion Amber looks really good. I recently tried the figure with true grip. But stability was difficult to maintain. I'll borrow your version with the cup grip. 😁
Yes!! The cup grip is much easier for me. It does take some getting used to but it does put the shoulder and wrist in a better position 💪🏼 lmk how it goes!
@@StephanieTallant worked much better, significantly more stability. :)
