I still dislike Ashoka as a character

i liked this analysis until it mostly devolved into "hur dur feminism bad." like no, just that woman's corporatist understanding of and coopting of feminism. as a leftist, feminism is not the enemy. it's peak liberal performatism to expand the audience at all cost to the original intellectual property -- namely into the other half of upper middle class white suburban households (women).

For me is impossible to respect someone who uses a cowboy hat outside of a rodeo or a cattle ranch.

My general opinion on Disney Star Wars (may be controversial): Disney Star Wars is *not* canon. It will never be. They did it to themselves. I could similarly go off on a long tangent… however, I will opt for comparison to recent election and sociopolitical shifts: we are all tired of woke. Disney cemented their path in wokeness, and will fall. Mark my words, Snow White remake will not recoup its costs. Disney is doomed. F=k em.

1:00 "Halo isn't dead. Its just MIA" All I needed to hear to know you are/were a fan of the books or well versed in the lore. Or I could be reading to much into that. Anyway, I have a bit of strange history with game. When it was announced I wanted nothing to do with it. Not because I thought it would be bad or that Bungie was potentially changing the lore. But I knew what would happen how it would end. So I didn't see the point of sinking six to eight hours into it. That changed about two years ago. After hearing MCC was finally in a playable state on pc I grabbed it on a sale. And decided to give one of them a second chance and play this for the first. (The second chance went to ODST. Great atmosphere and the best music in the entire series but I still think its overrated.) Six or so hours later and Reach became one of my top 3 Halo games. It would probably be my favorite if I knew nothing about Reach going in. And I envy those who got/get to go into Reach completely blind. This was a great send off from Bungie and would have been a perfect book end to this franchise.

this show is just flat out across the board quality. 40 years of star wars and its the first show that justifies its foundational premise of rebellion against tyranny. Andor makes the empire, and by extension the rebellion, in the greater franchise finally feel real, believable and threatening

You know what's weird? I've heard only good things about Andor, it seems to be right up my alley, but I just never bother to go and actually watch it. Why? I have tried to think of a reason. Take the blurb for Andor: "The series follows thief-turned-rebel spy Cassian Andor during the five years that lead to the events of the two films, exploring how he becomes radicalized against the Galactic Empire and how the wider Rebel Alliance is formed." What's the hook in this? Is it the thief-turned-rebel? How about radicaliation against the fascists? The issue here is that the MAIN HOOKS of the entire show are PREDICTABLE. It doesn't matter if the show is good and deep and epic and thought-provoking if the entire setup of the show is that ... "generic" is not the right word, but you get the idea. It's kinda like Andor hinges on the subversion that you will be watching some boring generic Disney Star Wars slop that ends up being something good. That's impossible to market or get people excited about. Besides, NOBODY cares about the rebels except die-hard Star Wars fans. The rebels are lame. We only care about the rebels if they are magic space monks or bounty hunters, or smugglers, or princesses. But if it's just some guy? It's just some guy. I think these are the reasons why so many sleep on it. Probably why I'll never actually watch it myself and instead watch content of people talking about it.

What people tend to forget a lot, and George Lucas contributed to this A LOT, is that Lucas' first wife was an instrumental part of the Original Trilogy production. TESB script was also written by a woman. Bring back the erased female history of participating in SW g-canon instead of creating fake female creation and participation. Amidala was one of the strongest female characters during her time, but she was in fact vilified and erased by both Lucas and the gatekeeping SW standom. Kathy continues to show that she doesn't have a fundamental understanding of how SW fandom works when she keeps doubling down on female chauvinism in her SW production. If the SW fans weren't misogynist before Kathy took over (and I think they weren't, because Mara Jade was one of the most beloved characters in the EU), they are all misogynist now just because selfish and chauvinist Kathy has tyrannically managed to equate female empowerment and sex equality with female chauvinism. At this point, even if an SW movie directed by a woman is as good as the Oscar-winning Return of the King, it will be hated and vilified to the point where it might just crash the Disney SW monetary infrastructure. And Kathy will have no one to blame but herself. Edit: and YT creators like yourself are also to blame, because at no point do you stop to correct the LIE that Kathy insists on female empowerment at all - she is doing exactly the opposite of that and gaslighting everyone - But you just create a conflict by reiterating that Kathy's female empowerment trope is somehow a bad goal on its own when you are intelligent enough to know it's a scam made by a big company that is so disconnected to actual women, that it thinks Mary Sue, a deeply sexist and misogynist creation, is an actual good representation of female struggle or female hero's journey. Ever since this whole shit started with the character of Rey, back in 2015, I can name only a quarter of a dozen YT content creators who call Kathy's bullshit for what it actually is, unmasking how a deeply misogynist concept (and indeed, a chauvinist concept) is destroying the franchise, dissipating fans and hemorrhaging money. Kathy is actually winning, because for the last 10 years, she keeps sticking a turd with the label "female empowerment" and all y'all male edge lords on YT play beautifully into it. You are not much better than Kathy in repeating the same ol+, same ol', and doubling down on the same talking points. You don't want to put forth an actual criticism, you just repeat what everyone is already rehashing. You don't want SW to get better, you want to profit out of it being worse and worse. I will also add those female content creators in the fanfiction world and elsewhere in SW fangirl world are doing their own bit in pretending that the problem of SW female characters and Kathy's chauvinism business model isn't that it's deeply misogynist, dehumanizing, and shallow business model. And yes, Lucas started this trend back in the day.

I would still say that Halo: CE is the best game Mechanically, 2 the best sequel a game can get, and 3 the best ending a Trilogy can have. Reach... Though I think its not as mechanically sound, not as great of a sequel, not a great way to end a franchise.... is the best prequel any story can have. ALSO- Bungie is no longer the same company. So I don't even trust Bungie with Halo.

We don’t get to see his face or body, but he had plasma bolt wounds that went through the entirety of his body back to front. And it can’t have gotten better with those banshees following him like that. I think there is an element of suicide, but I don’t think it was about him necessarily. He knew he wasn’t getting out of there alive, the math doesn’t support it. I mean most of reach was either shot down or had already gotten off planet. Meanwhile I don’t think it’s entirely fair to call noble six a lone wolf by the end of the game as working with a team changed that character. Sure they die alone, but the reason they die is because they sacrifice themselves to complete the mission their team was assigned and to protect everyone. I don’t doubt that S-312 would have lived, because they are a self sufficient head hunter. But noble six came to rely on the team, which is why they die alone after … to put it grimily .. out surviving every human and perhaps even reach herself.

Return of the Jedi wasn't great and the awful CGI additions didn't help and genuinely made it worse. I can forgive that and Return is still awesome to me and much of it worked and it's special just being 3rd film of the OT. Everything wrong with the prequels for me...Lucas with bad CGI which at the time was just a different kind of animation. I mean so many shots are just cartoons and cartoon backgrounds. Just bad CGI which would age and only get worse. I couldn't stand the Star Wars fans who went so crazy hating everything especially Jar Jar that Lucas (not having the guts to see his vision through) changed everything and Master Sith Lord Darth Jar Jar Binks The Phantom Menace, which would have been an epic twist and reveal, was sidelined and dismissed. Anyway... somehow I can forgive and understand all of that. Today the CGI is great and they have begun to master and combine good CGI and practical effects however...the Acolyte is bad. Boba Fett was not very good at all. I've come to expect this and it sucks but not everything is going to be the 2D micro series or A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back which I love with all my heart and soul outside of the bad Lucas CGI additions. I can forgive all of this... Episodes 7 8 and 9 aka the sequels however are unforgivable and I hate them. I hate just about everything about them and the people who wrote and directed and produced them. The sequels are a direct assault on the heart and soul and backbone of Star Wars. Pure disrespect. A legit violation. And an insult to the fans and the characters and the actors who played them. The original cast of actors as well as the characters they brought to life should have been and deserved to be honored. They actively and intentionally went out of their way to ruin and destroy the past present and future of Star Wars...the very history itself! It's unforgivable. And it doesn't matter because those once in a lifetime opportunities are gone. Unforgivable.

Halo Reach was *my* Halo in that it was my most played online experience as a teenager. I was born a year before Combat Evolved ever released and my older brother loved Halo. That love was passed to me and it became something for us to bond over. I really can't stand seeing what's been done to this franchise by 343. I remember one day playing Reach matchmaking and noticing literally everyone using the DMR. Prior to this, I never saw people use it much. I often saw a wide variety of weapons being used. Years later in the 2020s, I find out the reason why.... because 343 messed with the entirety of Reach's balance with the title update. Singlehandedly ruined Reach matchmaking for me. I only play Reach multiplayer with friends on MCC customs nowadays

I lean towards Halo Reach when it comes to canon, but where The Fall of Reach doesnt contradict it I say its good. Biggest gripe in the book is that they say its the first time they've faced Sanghelli in the war which we've seen now that it can't be.

A very well written and accurate depiction of Halo Reach. I think I really agree with everything you said. Bungie knew what they did and 343 tried to imitate it. And also as you said, the retcons from the original minds are easier to accept, especially because of the reasons you brought up. But also, they just retconned a book which bungie never really saw as fully Canon and only an addition to their story. 343i just retconned a whole Trilogie of games.

Here’s why everyone is wrong about the Kalashnikovs-especially those calling their use _”lazy”._ Andor was shot at Pinewood Studios, the HOME of Star Wars, where they have decades of props and costumes nearby on on-hand. At any given moment they must have quick and easy access to a thousand Stormtrooper blast rifles and hundreds of rebel weapons-ons of all descriptions. In _FACT,_ it would have taken _special effort_ to get ahold of AKs for this arc, _instead_ of simply grabbing something from the prop storage. That means it was a _CHOICE_ to use Kalashnikovs. Why did they do it? Because Tony Gilroy and team were making a deliberate allusion to _REAL_ rebel groups by using the weapon associated with every single group of freedom fighters for more than a half-century. From the Chinese Revolution, to the Cuban Revolution, to the Mujahideen to the IRA, to the Sandinistas, the AK is a staple weapon. Gilroy is using a universal symbol of revolutionary cells. You can complain it ‘took you out of the fantasy’ but you cannot call it ‘lazy’.

I don’t like to talk about RobotHead’s review. Best we all forget that… embarrassing fiasco.

When it comes to the fall of Reach vs Reach, the way I always figured it is everything is Canon, but not everything is the truth. Similar to Warhammer 40k, figure anything that involves the Master Chief due to his hero status by the general public, it would serve ONI well to keep the waters muddied as much as possible between fact and fiction to keep hope alive during the covenant war, and especially prior when it was the insurrection. So while the book is what I believe would be the "leaked" tale of events by ONI, as the cat was already out of the bag by that point, they needed more heroes and less of well, what actually happened that makes humanity look less heroic and more desperate.
