First AFF Jump at Skydive Deland
I found my old video of my first Accelerated Freefall (AFF) training jump at Skydive Deland. Great folks there, and they do tandem jumps as well (and you can get a video of it). After I heal from rotator cuff surgery I need to go out there and finish my AFF & license.

Yeah, it's a bummer. I really don't like it myself. Another problem you need to leave it in gear. And when you peg, that stand down, I always leave my left foot, then grab the handlebars and pull backward as I get off, otherwise, it may just roll forward.I've already dropped my bike due to this issue.. Should not be dropping your bike.Due to technical issues.

I’ve encountered same problems. Problem I have with your fix is I need adaptive ride height to lower the bike to get my feet down, with bike at normal height I’m barely on tip toes so might struggle with this. Plus I found if I’m sitting on bike when I start it this seems to knock the ARH off … I get the warning Harvard triangle on dash. It won’t then reset and work again till I stop bike, get off, and then restart it before getting on. … I was thinking about cutting 20-30mm off bottom of stand and re-welding foot back on at shortened length.

I should have taken the bike with the original rims and then went to the part's counter and ordered the spoked rims. This way I would have had an extra set of rims for the same price. Thanks. Bill

Hey, love and cheers from Mother Russia! I am really sad to hear that story. Landed here researching for PanAm as my next bike. I can definitely see the pain in your eyes and I feel for you. That must hurt. It's been 7 months since the video was posted but I still wish you to get the bike back on the road. To be honest PanAm is the only adventure touring bike I like to look at, the rest is straight forward butt ugly in my opinion (tastes differ, no offence, it's just my eyes). All the more sad to hear your story. I will still entertain the thought of buying one although I can see how that might be not the smartest of choices. It does look fantastic.

I'm a skydiver since 2011, over here in Houston, TX, and I have 2022 PAS Military Enthusiast edition. I have been one of the fortunate ones, who has not had any issues with my Pan America. I did my own 1K mile, oil change and maintenance, as well as the software update. You're right on the hit or miss, with the Pan America. I've read a lot of posts from individuals who got frustrated and gave up on Pan America. It really seems that most of the issues are with the 2021. Many riders who were able to have all their issues corrected, have been quite happy. But I'm sure the frustration alone, had them think twice. I hope you get all the issues with your PAS, corrected and are able to enjoy the bike. As you know, it really is a fun bike to ride.

Seems like a luck of the draw thing, my 2021 was flawless. But I think that was because it was one of the first 1000 built, when everyone on the assembly line was worried about making a mistake & being extra careful. Unfortunately my jump license is also on hold - I had surgery on my shoulder to repair both a full thickness rotator cuff tear and a SLAP bicep tear (I race XC mountain bikes, took 5th in State in class). I can't quite reach far enough behind my back to deploy a chute, but when I can I intend to finish my license - hopefully in time for the "Drop and give me 50" skydive ultra.

Yes, I still have it, and it's in the shop again for electric/computer issues again. The Pan Ams QC seem to be all over the place. I beat my 2021 hard for 2 years & 50k miles before it had a real issue, which was probably repairable if I hadn't traded it in to get a fresh 2023 to run the Iron Butt Rally last year. I've less than 5k miles on this one in a year, it's died commuting 5 miles to work more than half a dozen times, and I've had to trailer it in to the dealer twice. That's half of the reason I haven't been posting new content - I already have one video of me complaining in an empty back yard.

Noting, however, HD appears to have addressed the known problems in 2024 with a bigger capacity battery and upgraded charging system. The problem for us 2021-2023 model owners is that we will take a big hit on trade-in value because HD dealers have discounted new and used pre-2024 models.
