I have spent many hours aquiring information on this topic in order to understand what has caused so much pain and the loss of family and friends.We not familiar with PA, until until it destroyed our lives, so I appreciate your accurate information and that that it is in accord Dr Childress who I have found to have an excellent understanding of this topic in his 20 years of research, however I have never heard a true proffessional address the situation that occured in my family. All that is proffesionally understood to be the evidence of PA has taken place and the fall out has been devastating, however, the'' malicious mother' which we had never heard of until her mission was accomplished, had planned her strategy for at least 5 year, then upon leaving the family home with the teenage children 14 and 15 yrs old, she went to the court and took out a 50B, that would last for 3 years, which meant that my son could not speak to her to try to make some sence of the situaton and was prohibited from speaking to his children, who were saying the most horrible things about their father, they now dispise him and call him by his first name, if they ever mention him at all, the mother married as soon as the divorce was finalize, the children were promptly abandoned and are still floundering. As their grandmother, they refused to acknowledge me. I saw them twice a yeaIr and spoke with them for less than one minute each time only to say I loved them and please call me when you can, and thanked them when they said that they would but they never did. I was finally unblocked on face book and took advantage of the avenue to say hello and ask how they were, after 3 months of very occasional texts we have visited with each other twice, and have a visit next week where I invited then to stay over as we are having my daughter and her children come to visit, this will be their first visit with family in 4 1/2 years. Humility, Patience, I imagine assured them that I was completely agreeable to not speaking about their father or the situation. The greatest problem is that the children, while willing to speak to me andare begining to treat me once more as grama, one of them has just told their father when he called her at work, that if he calls her again she would put a 50B on him! she said it with such hatred!!! Thanks to you and those who are sharing this information we now have and understanding of what has happened , however.... this 50b prevents my son from being in contact with his childrne, we have no phone numbers only FB contact, I am no longer blocked but my son their father is, and could only call his daughter at her place of employment. Sorry this is so long, I see where this is not too different from the worst possible case of PA, however this 50B prevents any way of contacting these two teens who are now 19 and 20 years old and are thinking as they have been programed to. Do you have any suggestions based on the fact that my son could very likely be arrested based on another serious accusation, the threat of another 50B which could make it even longer than it could otherwise be to make any contact. Also do you think that their reaching out to me is a first step to having the courage to ultimately reach out to their father? Family court is a misnomer; It should be called the State cartel since it has the therapists, GALs, lawyers, clown in a black robe aka judge and uniformed thugs aka cops to bankrupt the father while using the excuse of “best interest of the child”. In the US, the state benefits by getting 3 $ for every $ extracted from the dad as a non custodial parent. So the courts are incentivized to keep the father away from the children. One sees the outcomes in the number of children without dads in the home going crazy and the girls having kids - themselves while being teenagers.

That's a long wait for some to endure until the kids are adults. Grandparents are often dead and buried. Cousins have grown up. As you said, some parents have also died... Evil people, causing generational trauma.

So sad that it's come to this. Coercive control and parental alienation need to be enforced by the police and criminal courts. It's the only way to stop the abuse.

It's hard to believe that parental alienation is not taught to psychotherapists, psychologists etc in Ireland,.....especially as it's so clear to everybody else. All you need is common sense to be aware that it is happening. Yet it is recognised in the US and taken very seriously?

Children should not bear the brunt of failed marraige. By practicing SharedParenting, a happy child can be raised in two different happy homes. Dear all seperated parents, if you genuinely love your children then keep them first and practice SharedParenting and don't let ParentalAlienation erase half of child's family and make him semi-orphaned.

I'm wondering about the evidence for stating that children realize the truth at about 17-18 and that the prognosis is good for alienated parents-- from my reading, PA causes persistent changes in the child's capacity for critical thought equivalent to brainwashing and the odds of realizing the truth are low if the alienating parent is still in their lives.

Women should take responsibility for allowing abusive men to impregnate them and their friends, because the guy is tall and doesn't listen to authorities. Don't be a 304. Simply ways to tell if a man will abuse you...does he conciously and willingly drive over the speed limit while you are in his car? 5 mph over doesn't indicate an abusive partner, but 10+ mph over speed regularily is a sign that he doesn't care about your well being or his own. Does he get mad when you spill water on him at the table, or laugh it off? Few abusers take kindly to having water dumped on them, go ahead next time you are sitting down for dinner with a potential partner knock the cup of water over. Should tell you everything you need to know about the man sitting down to dinner with you.

Very good interview with some important points raised. I think using the story of Medea to describe why alienators do what they do may not be the most accurate way to put it. Many times the alienated parent need not have run off with another woman (or man) or done anything else wrong or bad for the alienator to go on the attack. If there's a significant level of pathological narcissism present in the alienator, then simply setting boundaries with them, or civilly objecting to being used as a emotional punchbag may trigger them to attack and begin alienating the kids. I'm aware some people believe parental alienation occurs as a kind of overreaction by the alienator to having being wronged by their partner. This is definately not always the case. No one is a saint but in many cases the alienated parent has a pretty clean track record. It's important to keep that clear imo.

People who deny the existence of alienation is gaslighting. Which is ironic isn't it? As gaslighting and parental alienation is a tool used by narcissists. Narcissists are more likely to do the alienating!

It's ironic isnt it .. that the ones who do understand it are the ones who have been alienated but we need scientists to give credibility for what we're saying because we're otherwise not believed. I appreciate the researchers and scientists who are working on this
