Jen SEPTA's cut line to Fox Chase became the Pennypack Trail the Reading Railroad operated the line prior to creation of the trail.
Jen your videos are always inspiring to where your making me want to get back to jobs in warehousing so I can get back into a car to explore more. I had been homeless many times far to many and as I stated before I passed a lot of this in the SEPTA Class 1 Transit system. I need to get time and money to get back out there to explore.
Just a guess, i think the river was part of the canal system ?
Take a trip to lockport , ny to see the erie canal. Started from buffalo, ny all the way to albany, ny to the hudson river! Now that is a canal, still in use in the summer.
Great video
Trying to find the rocks that ring is like a treasure hunt
That is cool, most people would not even think of looking in that tunnel, let alone walk through it . This is the kind of adventure I like doing if I can find the time. The large pine tree is a Cedar and the logs around the frame of the door and building are Birch , I believe they are yellow birch .
What the hey , white for both Appalachian Trail and the games land trail , that's wrong !👎 My only regret is that I didn't discover your site a year ago when it came out.
Hi Daniel I'm glad you like it! I wish you had found it sooner too!
Whenever you are on top of a mountain and you have a great view, you can use that as an excuse to catch your breath. 👍 Awesome hike , I love that I get to see everything you go through. A lot of people don't know how to film the trail and talk at the same time . This is excellent ! 👍 Good camera it actually shows how steep the hike is.
Thank you, Daniel It's funny, but when I take the camera with me, I actually feel as though I'm with someone. I'm either talented in a way, or bat @#%# crazy! ...lol Thanks for watching, my friend!
Thank you for answering back, even though you posted this a year ago. I really miss getting out like I used to every weekend that wasn't raining. Now I'm lucky to spend 20 minutes in the tiny pach of woods next to my house. I watched the through hikers and got jealous and sometimes a little arrogant because rocks and tall weads with thorns never bothered me but then I realize l should put up or shut up and found out how difficult such a task is. Time, money, planning, which is the hardest thing for me I can not think ahead, and lately, I have gotten bewildered on old trails I have walked for years . I would like to find someone who enjoys hiking off trail and is up for a change.
I really enjoyed watching this video.I got to see how rocky this part of the trail is instead of hearing about it afterward. I like how you don't regret going of trail and you consider it part of the experience . I saw another video of yours about the canal and found it interesting.
Hi Daniel, Well, if you like me going off trail, stay tuned...lol...I tend to get lost on most hikes : ) Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. It's much appreciated!
Your content and this video specifically are very interesting! Thanks so much for sharing!
Hiya LumberJack I feel the same way about your channel. : ) Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. It is much appreciated!
I've lived here for almost five years, and until this video, never knew you can just go inside those buildings. 😂
lol...yeah, I was sort of surprised to find out it was wide open. thank you for watching. : )
Thanks Jenn for the video! I live in Maryland and my company is based in Williamsport PA. Never knew this history or the pajama factory. Thanks for sharing. I’m for sure a new subscriber!😊
Hi Carl I'm in Williamsport quite often, so you'll probably be seeing more content in the area. Thank you for watching as well as taking the time to comment. It is much appreciated!
@ looking forward to following along Jenn. We travel the same paths. I was born and raised in Ridley Park Pa. Later moved to Southern Chester County(38 years) and now live along the Chesapeake bay and enjoy boating, crabbing🦀, fishing.
Love your videos Jen❣️
thank you, my friend. : )
those canals amaze me . hard to think they were once in use and probably dug out by hand. Enjoyed watching and Happy New Year
yeah. me too. Just the thought of them being dug out with pick and shovel is crazy! Happy New Year to you as well : )
Thanks for enduring cold feet to show us around. There were alot of interesting remnants around and it looked beautiful with the snow.
Hi Sara lol...thanks...one of these days I'll start wearing the correct clothing. I should have watched your recent video about hiking in wintertime prior to heading out. ; ) Thanks for watching, my friend!
Cool boat replica! Neat bridge. It would be fun to ice skate on that pond. The canal is cool. It's so interesting to hear how they used to work the lock. What an odd shed! I think you're right about the Susquehanna River. It's shallow and rocky in spots. Neat old barn. It'll look completely different when the snow melts. Great video! I hope you have a wonderful New Year's! 😃💚👊
Delightful hike. Thanks for bringing us along. 😊
Hi Rich! Thanks for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Font Hill tour is in two parts. Each one is a little more than an hour. It's a must see. Pretty sure you need to get tickets weeks in advance, at least that is how it was when we went..., about 5 years ago??? Anyway, it is great!!
Hi George! Thanks for the tip! I may just have to get tickets for my next visit. 😊 Thank you for watching!
I live 10 minutes from there and didn't realize it existed. If you ever get back to the area, there's a place in Montoursville named Riverfront Park. It was a Native American Village named Ostonwakin. It's pretty interesting.
Hey Jenny I just discovered your exploring adventures channel. Your exploring adventures are so interesting. I do the same thing exploring in New Jersey when I have time from work on my blueberry farm and gardens
Hiya Larry! Thank you for the kind words. I just checked out your channel as well. Very Cool!
@jennsylvania1633 Thanks, Jenny. Your exploring adventures are so interesting. Maybe our exploring adventures will we both enjoy doing will find us coming across each other one day
If you want to know how old the tracks are the dates are on them.
Hi John, I didn't know that. I'll have to look next time. Thanks for the comment. : )
@@jennsylvania1633 it will be just the years.
Thank you. What a great video. A bit of nature and local history. I just subscribed and am looking forward to watching more. Thanks again. 😊
Hi Rich! Thanks for subscribing! I’m glad you enjoyed the video, and I’m looking forward to having you along on future adventures!
you ever get here ill make a hot meal and a cup of coffee
Hi Robert, That sounds amazing! Thank you for watching, my friend. : )
Hey, nice explore! I’d heard of the canal but didn’t know about the park in Muncy. Nice spot! Two little facts I can add…The railroad you mention is very much in operation, it’s the Lycoming Valley Railroad. A lil shortline from Muncy 40 miles west to Avis. Supports industry in and around Williamsport. And the Susquehanna river, aside from being one of the largest non-navigable rivers, is believed to be the one of the oldest rivers in existence in the world. Thanks for the look-see!
Hi Dale! Thank you for your thoughtful comment and for sharing those facts! 😊 I had no idea the Lycoming Valley Railroad was still active-what a cool connection to the area's industrial history. And the fact about the Susquehanna River being one of the oldest rivers in the world is absolutely mind-blowing! It’s amazing to think about the stories this river could tell if it could talk. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to share!
It was so nice to see someone visit and explore my hometown. A lot of your footage was my stomping grounds as a kid. I grew up in Perkasie and still live here. I have visited the indoor Carousel many times and they still have old time ticket prices and great food.
Hi Jeff, I absolutely love Perkasie! Growing up in Philly, I had never even heard of it, but it’s truly a hidden gem. Last December, I brought my granddaughter to the tree lighting event, and wow-I was amazed at how many people attended! You have a wonderful hometown, my friend. Thank you for watching!
i never get that way to check out the old canal. I know you can see the canal wall along the shore of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. My fiance and I did the whole river and came upon the wall unexpectedly. Theres a canal near me in Clinton and Centre County, I have a video of a lock near Howard: ruclips.net/video/e-21jY3rjx4/видео.html If you can next spring or summer go down to Cresson/Gallitzin and stop by the Allegheny Portage RR Nat'l Historic Site. The ONLY Canal Sys to have a RR in it. I highly recommend a visit there. If ya want I can show you around and show ya my best friends B&B in Gallitzin right next to the tracks. Lmk if you want to see the one canal lock near me. This time of year is the best time to see it. Plus the Eagle Iron Works is mins away.
Lovely! So jealous of the winter wonderland….I wish I could afford to travel right now. Love from Arkansas Jen!
Hi Reuben! It is beautiful but at the same time, I miss the warm weather. So, I guess, "the grass is always greene" as they say...lol Thank you for watching, my friend!
I can tell its really cold by the way the snow crunches beneath your feet, at least it wasn't windy, stay warm Lady.
Hiya Jill. OMG, yes...it was sooooo cold. But yeah, windy days are far worse.
Thanks for the vid you know the crazy thing about those canals they were dug out by hand picks and shovels and wheelbarrows. Have a good day.
Hiya KK! You're right, it is crazy to think about the manual labor involved in creating those canals. Thanks for watching, my friend.
A White Christmas 🎄 😊 A great year of content. JEN!! Looking forward to next year's posts !
Hiya RedRooster! Thank you, my friend. I so appreciate your comments and overall positivity. Thank you for being a supporter of my channel. It means a lot : )
A very Merry Christmas to y'all. Thanks for another great video Jenny.
agree!
Thank you, BigBlue! Hoping you had a nice Christmas, and I wish you the best in the New Year!
What an exciting hike knowing the story of the cave. The tunnel did not seem very tall! There were some very intriguing places in this hike that got my curiosity going and would really like to explore there. The prayer rock area was pretty neat.
Hello! It really is a great spot to explore. I'll have to make a return trip someday. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated!
thanks for stoping by as a local of Renovo i have lots of more information for you
Hi Matt, It's an interesting area of PA that, to be honest, I never heard of prior to making this video. Thanks for reaching out! I'd love to hear more!
Such a great adventure with you and Tony. I could tell he was excited on this hike. I could hear him a bit better on this video. Your camera work and comments took us on a great journey. I live in Bucks County and have never been to Ringing Rocks.
Thanks for your kind words! It must be nice living in Bucks County, and you should absolutely check out Ringing Rocks Park sometime. Yeah, Tony enjoys hiking out in nature. I showed him your comment. Still trying to get him to agree to being miked : ) Have a wonderful holiday, Jeff!
never seen anything like ringing rocks , way cool
yeah, it's pretty cool, right? : ) Thank you for watching, my friend!
Leave it to you to go around banging on rocks 🤣🤣 beautiful waterfall and location.
Hi Gary, I guess you could say that I'm easily amused...lol Happy Holidays, my friend!
@jennsylvania1633 Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones 😊
This was really a very cool video! The long cuts along the floor of the waterfall pathway, almost look man made as they were so evenly spaced and the width of the spaces were also very even. Very interesting and beautiful. Can’t wait till you return here in the Spring! Enjoy lots more exciting adventures and thanks for taking us along!😊
Hiya Deb! Yeah, they almost look like old slate shingles. Thank you for taking the time to comment and I want to wish you and your loved ones a Happy Holidays!
@ Happy Holidays!!
The canal ran up to the paper mill on the other side of town!
Hi Amanda, thank you. Just curious, are there still remains of the old canal?
Yes it’s on Huston street there is an old duplex that they used to see the logs and any issues I used to live in part of it! It’s a beautiful home!
I am a history lover too and to do it with a lady as attractive as you is a treat
Hi Jeff thank you for the kind words!
"It looks like someone is mooning us." 😂 Hahaha It did look like buns.
Hi RedRooster! right? It's crazy how our imaginations work. Thanks for watching, my friend!
Do you go hiking and just always bring a claw hammer??? 😂😂
yes...yes I do....lol no, I knew about this place prior to my visit. : )
I feared you two were going to get a foot stuck in between the rocks. Ouch. Have you ever done that? It's painful and you get stuck. Good to travel with a buddy thru all those rocks. Happy Holidays 🌲 and winter solstice 🌞
No, can't say that ever happened, but yeah, I'm sure it would be painful Always good to go with someone else, in case of an injury Thank you for watching, my friend and Happy Holidays!!
Neat! Now we know what is behind the falls ; )
Hi Phillip Yes, I suppose we do. ; ) Thanks for watching!
Bake oven knob. I've been there, so beautiful on the top! Beautiful views!
Hi Luckster! I agree! It's an amazing view from the top! The only negative is all the graffiti on the rocks.
Wow! This was a serious hike for you! Rocks were definitely dicey! Beautiful views, tho! Gotta tell you, you're so funny what you say while on these trails! Love it❤ Would love to go hiking with you!
It was definitely a challenge, but the views were worth it! Thanks for the compliment on being funny. It's so strange, when I have my camera, I actually feel as though I'm with someone. We could probably do that someday. Preferably in spring, summer of fall. do you go hiking often? Where are you located?
@jennsylvania1633 Kutztown, pa. In the country. I still go hiking when I can, still working. That's what vacation days are for!😎 Definitely spring summer and fall. Im also in the process of buying a can am quad 4 wheeler. When I watch you on these trails I can just see myself 4 wheeling but not the tight trails. J/k
I lived on upper minimum church rd.it used to be very nice up there.
I'm not all that familiar with the area, but I'm sure it nice. Bucks County is a hidden treasure! Thanks for watching, my friend!
That was fun. Thanks for sharing. Thought I heard you playing jingle bells on the rocks. Very cool. Have a great Christmas 🎄
It’s almost like Christmas came early! Merry Christmas to you too as well, Dave!
Nice! There's something about the monochromatic look of a gray sky with the rocks and stream...all you need with that is snow covered stream banks! Also, that rock wall where the icicles were towards the end was wicked looking....the way it was cut..looked almost like cedar shingles... Happy trails!
Hi John, Yeah, they do look like shingles, don't they. Yes, if there were a snowfall would make the location look magical. Wishing you a Happy Holidays, my friend!
@jennsylvania1633 happy holidays to you also!
At 5:18 it looks like the original trolley track bed to the right....
yeah, I see what you mean. It's certainly possible. thank you for watching!
