Inoculating Yellow Oyster Mushrooms on Stumps
2:56 we do a couple of reliable moister checks. The visual, we make sure there aren't any pellets in our substrate that haven't broken up. The hand squeeze, you should be able to squeeze substrate in your hands, and only a couple of drops should be able to squeeze thru your fingers. Dehydrate, we save 1 lb of substrate and dehydrate it, and weigh out the remaining content. Usually .4 lb
So what comes first, the mushroom or the mycelium? Like say if left out a piece of food and a mushroom or fungus started to grow on it, would it eventually form a mycelium network?
Bro casually has a block of mycelium lmao
The fact that shes growing in 5lb blocks at this scale is perplexing. I watch alot of mushroom content and most growers, most not even close to the complexity or output as this, all use 10-12lb blocks. Im kinda wondering the reasoning? Speed, weight, consistancy, equipment limitation or just preference
does this even work without using a filter patch bag?
What are the advantages to this method that would make it preferable to the typical plug inoculation method given that the plug method can inoculate three or four times that number of logs?
In my experience, the problem with blue oysters isn't the initiation of pinning but ensuring that the pins actually grow into anything edible in terms of size. Blue oysters seem to be very demanding when it comes to air quality which is a big problem when growing indoors with this particular strain. Regular grey oysters, pink oysters grow fine, even if not as optimally...but blues always turn out small and weak and where i live most of the year it's freezing cold outside...can't exactly keep a window open 24/7 without freezing my own butt off. But the benefit of blue oysters is that the colonization is ridiculously fast, just a few days after adding grain spawn to a substrate...the mycelium had already spread to like 1/3 of the block. Strongest strain i've seen thus far. But i also add things to the substrate easy for the mushroom to eat - grass pellets, sunflower seed hull pellets. I avoid grain bran because of the high contam risk.
Could you make a RUclips channel, on how you would set up a 40 ft shipping container, fruiting room for mushrooms??
Most informativ video ever, thanks a lot!
This rocks!
Also, how many lbs typically grow out of an oyster bag? Thanks
For the oyster bag, can you simply mist it and keep it in the tote in a garage? Would the hummidity suffice? Thanks
Hello! Nice farm. Thank you for sharing. I want to ask you why does the intake fan is near the ceilings and the exhaust fan is near the floor? I saw that other cultivators use the inverse configuration because air tends elevate as it gets more hot
I would love to hear about the economics of a business of this size!
Please explain the filter patch and where it is.
not the best speaker but dam does she knwo her stuff!!! Without a doubt the absolute most informative of any video or other website. THX !!!!

Quick question, do you deal with a lot of moisture/water build up on the floor? Or is it a non problem as maybe the tent is not air tight?

Is there a reason i cant use a 55gallon drum for a humidifier? Will the float/fogger move down with the water as its being used?
no reason you can't. It'll be very expensive to run compared to a fogger disk though.
@@TheMushroomManDan_FungalFruits i meant using a fogger disc set up in a deeper container(55gal drum) as opposed to a shallow vessel(tote)
Would using a green house film with natural indirect sunlight be a problem? Why is it most people use the hydro tents
Absolutely I have made 4 or 5 grow rooms with 6 mil plastic, works great, I think people use hydro tents because you can simply buy it off the shelf, but some 2x4's and 6 mil plastic work great.
How do you like using those little greenhouses for fruiting? I was looking at cheap 8x12 greenhouses to use as a f.c.
Yeah those definitely work for a small set up!
I wonder, about putting the wedges (cookies) back, maybe tacking them like you have, but then putting a wrap or two of plastic to hold the moisture in and such, at least for the first year.
There seems to be a huge amount of plastic bags used in mushroom growing. Are you familiar with alternatives?
