I have watched all the methods. None of them really show before-after playbacks, except those who try to demonstrate the wood glue method. Which means, wood glue method is time tested! I definitely use this method if the records are really bad. Later, just wiping them with carbon brush is enough, before it is played.

What's up with the aspect ratio. You do realise some of us are watching on our phones, which makes the tiny visual display quite irritating. Shame mind because you sound quite interesting

I have a pair of RTi12s as the left and right channels in my home theater - will never part with them, unless we simply can't fit them in the next house for some reason. The RT line from Polk stands for "Reference Theater," and I believe they're better suited to home theater than two-channel/music. I would have gotten the 10s or even the 8s, as we didn't have a very powerful receiver to drive them with, but our local Fry's had a closeout steal on the 12s that we couldn't ignore (the new RTiAs were out).

Nothing worth bragging about here, but my system does sound incredible to me. I stream Tidal and Qobuz into a Topping DAC, Rotel amp, and Arendal speakers. 15" Klipsch sub that you'd never know was there until I turn it off. I've spent a lot of time on setup, and have heard a lot of "high-end" equipment, and I'd have to say it'd take 3 or 4 times the money and very careful shopping to "better" the sound I'm getting. And the "better" would be 3 or 4 times better, it would be almost inaudible. If I was wealthy, I'd probably have super high-end gear, just because it's beautiful and fun to own the "best..." but I've heard 6 figure systems that didn't sound as good as my setup does. Oh, I do love vinyl for those wondering, unfortunately I didn't inherit my father's collection, and it's a very expensive rabbit hole to go down today, so I've avoided it. Streaming gives access to sooo much music and can sound incredible too.

Concerning your replacement turntables if you want value for money excellent build and excellent sound quality look for the project range of turntables,my setup is an incatech katana cd player c 720 bee receiver and a pair of kef model one's.

Sometimes you gotta put Rudy on Duty and pay up for what you want. Not much was issued on Reel to reel. I bought Infinity speakers at Circuit City; they were bookshelf and I thought were much better than Polk. I have a Technics receiver and an Onkyo single deck cd player. I use either Koss or Sennheiser headphones.

Personally, I prefer buying music on CD. I had a subscription to Apple Music, but I canceled my subscription kind of in frustration because of a song on a certain album that I really liked suddenly turned unplayable. That is a major reason why I personally hate dealing with music streaming services. I like to listen to a wide variety of music (everything from Classical, Country & Contemporary Christian/Gospel to Hard Rock/Metal). Just an example of some of the artists I like are Pearl Jam's album titled "Ten" and my favorite song on that album is titled "Alive", then there is Alice In Chains "Dirt" album (the one you are holding in your hand at 10:04 in this video), and one more example is a band called "Nightwish" and on their album titled "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" I like listening to their 24-minute long track titled "The Greatest Show On Earth". And I will mention one more band I really like to listen to...a band called "Disturbed" I like a lot of their songs across all of their releases. To name one of the songs I really like, it's titled "Down With The Sickness". So this is just a few examples of the music I enjoy listening to.

I've been collecting soundtracks from John Powell, James Horner, and James Newton Howard. Their works are incredible, and I get excited with each purchase along with their corresponding films. I also collected and built a multilingual soundtrack collection. The titles in that collection are from the Disney Renaissance and a few extras, like the first 2 Frozen films and Tangled. My languages are English, French, Italian, German, and EU Spanish. I get them to improve my language learning skills. I also liked to add other languages to the collection, like Danish, Hungarian, and Swedish to name a few. It was to listen to and sing along to the songs phonetically in the languages I don't speak. I mainly buy CDs to create digital files that can then be transferred onto my phone and external media. Some albums I get are neither available to buy digitally on Amazon Music nor the iTunes store.

Oh waw that was good stack of cd'es. Have to check out Gunshine sounds something for me. White Lion with the danish singer Mike Tramp in it. Really a good voice he have. have you checked some of his solorecords in english? He also have done some on danish. I'm a sucker for female singers or female fronted bands. And special Pink such a strong voice and personality. Have 2 with Dropkick Murphys but haven't heard em yet. The black Crowes is a good pick up. Adele have a beautiful voice. Dirt with Alice In Chains is a masterpice. Remeber when The Pussycat Dolls went big. Good looking women.

I'm still finding quite a bit of interesting (to me) stuff at the local thrift stores, so I haven't seen it start drying up yet, thankfully. Like you, I try to buy just what I'm interested in, and not grab stuff just to flip it (except on rare occasions). And thank you for introducing us to Ben, he's adorable! I love animals, so any RUclips music channel with a furry friend is okay in my book. :) Oh, by the way, if it's easy to tweak your "like & subscribe" graphic, you might want to do so - it says "subsribe" (you left out the C)! I think so but not as big as the vinyl revival. I just hope a CD revival means more appreciation for the format.

I think thrift stores allow certain collectors to go thru their new arrivals before they put them on the shelf. It is also pretty easy to check the value of stuff on the internet now, so the good cds never make it to the shelves.

The vinyl collectors are insane. I never moved away from cds and have feasted on people's poor decisions to abandon their cds.Keep e'm comin!

Pink is in a movie I recently watched called Catacombs, it was terrible. She was billed under her real name Alecia Moore. I've come across yard sales and charity shops where they paid me 75 cents a cd to take them off their hands.

I mean, if you're just going to Goodwill and flee markets and yeah it's slim pickings. For me however, I hit the record store to find the good stuff. I'm mostly into rock and metal. And the last 2 CD hauls I scored some really good finds.

CD revival is on...SACD ...folks are back to SACD ...gone are those " music jumps out of the speaker Mono sounds awesome" era!!!

Hi Rudy. WOW 50 cents. I volunteer in a charity shop in the UK and we hardly get any CD's donated nowadays. I always look though them, if we do get any but it's not the type of music I'm interested in. Also in the UK it's mid winter so no car boot sales until the spring. I have the Tina Turner CD. The only CD I've brought recently is A Momentary Lapse of Reason (2019 remix) by Pink Floyd.

Goodwill has an ebay page. The good stuff gets collected, and shipped off to their warehouse where they handle all online sales. It doesn't even see the shelves in stores. Scalpers and resellers have ruined the business model of thrift stores, wherein the corporation side has said, "Why should we sell things for pennies on the dollar that people are going to turn around and sell for major profit?" In essence, it defeats the purpose of what Goodwill was created for, but you know, scalpers ruin everything like the parasites they are.

I think there are CD's out for sale, you just have to pay 10-15 dollars which is fair.

People aren't donating cds and vinyl anymore. The thrift shops In my city have the same old cds from more than 5 years ago. I know many people have either sold to record stores or dumped their collections in the trash more than 10 years ago. I've also worked in thrift shops in the past and anything good is taken by employees or listed online for much more . This is why most don't have the shelves full of records or cds.

The guy you bought them from probably stole them. Dropkick Murphys is the best of the whole bunch.

Some great cds , in my neck of the woods cds are getting more expensive. Wish the hipsters would stick to their vinyl and leave the cds alone lol.

I always tell people that if they want to assemble a cool stereo component system on a budget, they should consider going to thrift stores, garage sales, church rummage sales, local auctions, as well as eBay, but thrift stores are often the best place to start and that's how I managed to buy some amazing components over the years for $5 to $20 each which were fractions of their original retail prices. :)

Those are some really good deals. Geographical location is everything. I love those Dual speakers. They look like Old Skool dj speakers. Do you have information on them as a search turns up nothing.

I've been a music lover and collector my whole life. Vinyl, cassette, CD, mp3. I was a dj in a crew in the 80's to help fund my hobby. My collection includes classical to metal and everything in-between. I've watched the trends come and go. Floor model console systems, component systems, integrated systems,mini stereo systems , walkmans, boom boxes, bookshelf speakers, vinyl, cassette, mp3, mini disc, CDs, the rise and fall of Napster, the cd price fixing scandal in the 90's in Canada, the 2022 class action settlement against optical drive manufacturers, streaming, Bluetooth, mini battery powered speakers, Sirius satellite etc. People have fallen for the manipulation by manufacturers, service suppliers and retailers while not understanding what they are buying into. Understanding the differences between analog and digital, compression, either digitally or analog is a basic. You don't have to be an audiophile to understand it, which I am not. Did you notice how cd players would play burned Cds initially. Sometime around 2000 cd players manufacted for the next 2 to 3 years couldn't play burned cds unless the manufacturer listed it as a feature. Shortly after mp3 cd players took over. I'm still waiting for the vintage vinyl market to correct itself. Love the channels name. I assume you're a Depeche mode fan?

I gave up buying vinyl exactly one year ago. I have enough CD's and vinyl to listen to for the rest of my life. And I hit RUclips for older bands that aren't mainstream and I couldn't get physical access to such as Galaxie 500 and Cabaret Voltaire. I will buy a new bass guitar before the tarrifs hit next year.

A few months ago i got lucky. Found a set of Paradigm high performance series Phantom speakers for $40 Cdn at my local thrift store. Grill clothes and eblems in perfect condition. I was surprised how great they sound .

Great video - thanks! TRIUMPH is one of my favorite bands - I first heard them in 1979 on the Just A Game album which I played over and over. I've cut back on buying vinyl and switched back to CD's for all the reasons you said. Occasionally, I do buy a record, though. Never giving up the ones I have. I'm glad 4 or 5 years ago I bought vinyl for POWERWOLF, Mercyful Fate & King Diamond which back then was a little cheaper. However, I've noticed some bands are not in it for the money and are keeping new vinyl releases around $25. Wal-Mart does have cheaper albums from AC/DC, Queen, etc. for around $28 but no one is buying that I see. I've been listening to Black Sabbath, new on CD (much cheaper at $13 each)the 2024 remixes of Headless Cross, TYR, Cross Purposes and forbidden. Take care!
