I went to CDs over 40 ago, and I never looked back. I absolutely refuse to pay the high prices for vinyl. It's just plain ridiculous. Not only that, it's what you get for what you pay.
The demand for vinyl will kill it off. The pvc resin that makes them is running out. Cds with a good hi fi with graphic equaliser will always sound best.
Definitely puts a damper on on things. I’ve noticed some CDs can command a premium but you can still find them at great prices. Thanks for watching, God Bless! 😊🙏
I feel the same, also i have run out of storage space, they take up a lot of room. I stream albums anyway when listening on my headphones and usually sounds better. Concert ticket prices are getting unaffordable to me too.
How refreshing to see a reviewer with what looks like a late 90s early 2000s amp and numark record decks , as apose to a 6 figure turntable that resemble something found in a science museum, along with speakers that cost more than a car.
When you can pick up a new CD from a name artist for less than 15 bucks with the exact same album on vinyl costing over 50, that's getting well into rip-off territory. Grew up with vinyl and still have a few LP's from the old days but no turntable or any of the vinyl paraphernalia anymore. Very happy with CD's.
well you have what you enjoy hearing that´s a correct opinion, and turntables no matter what you pay , today none is like old turntables ,the stylus and cartridges are very strange and turntables that have no ...nothing cost a fortune like some Pro-Ject turntables that cost around 1.000€ ,if the prices were right as in quality/price relation they couldn´t be sold for more than 50€ and that´s a offer above their real cost
Back in the '60s I paid .30¢ for a gallon of gas, .35¢ for a pack of cigs, .50¢ for a Playboy, .50¢ for a 45rpm record, etc. In the early '70s I was buying LPs for $3.50. Those were back in the days when the U.S. and Europe had massive record plants pouring out millions of records which kept the costs way down. Those days and that industry are gone, and now we pretty much have boutique record pressing companies. Today many of the old recordings have been remastered from the original master tapes and sound much better than the originals ever did, no matter what many purists claim. Now I don't go for the UHQR boxed version that sell for $150, but asking $30 or even $40 isn't extreme when you take inflation into consideration and the manufacturing circumstances. I use to belong to the record clubs like Columbia, RCA, BMG and Musical Heritage Society and accumulated a lot of vinyl and CDs for decent prices, but that is another thing we don't have anymore. Collecting records can either be expensive or fairly economical depending on how you go about it. I also have streaming and in cases where the physical media isn't available I record onto cassettes, as that's another option. I wish I could buy a new car for $3,000 like in the '60s instead of $30,000 on up in today's market, but that ain't happening either.
Nice comment… cheapest I ever got gas was $.95 in the early 80s! I bet those $.50 playboys are worth a lot if you still have them. I remember those record clubs where you got 10 or so albums for a penny! Those were the days! Thanks for the trip down memory lane! Have a great weekend! God bless! 😊🙏
@@rudyonduty I'm sad to say I had years worth of those old Playboys (didn't even show pubes, lol) that were in my apartment closet and I moved and left them all. What a dummy! Thanks for the reply, you have a nice weekend too.
also remenber at A&M records they used to burn piles of records where a uncle of mine made security at night before burning them you could choose whatever you want and bring home , but nmost of them were bands that were released and only a hit song but i also brought home a lot of new Lp´s that A&M had great sounding records, this in 95
It was also back in the days before America and the rest of the ex-industrious western nations had become full blown com you nist countries and service economies riddled with drugs and degeneracy.
Hey Rudy! Great upload. Totally agree, the price of vinyl has skyrocketed over the years. It's thrift store and ebay cds for me these days. With the occasional full price treat now and then. Love the Bad Company album, great choice. Been listening to The Donnas lately, what a band they were! Girls with guitars, what's not to like! Take care Rudy, looking forward to the next one.
Quit vinyl in 1985..............Hate Distortion. And yes CD's can be bright, but no distortion. Probable seen 50-60 different bands back in my concert days. Oingo Boingo w/ Danny Elfman in a very small club and one the Best Shows (in Top 5).
Vinyl is expensive, however, it won't stop you or any other vinyl collector from buying records. I just don't buy those over priced used records. There are 1000's of choices and if you have been collecting for years, it's easy to avoid. the over priced listings.
I agree, new vinyl prices are high. Years ago I shelved all my 200+ vinyl albums and only bought CDs. Now I have about 800or so CDs. About 2 years ago I bought a copy DBPowerAmp and ripped all my CDs to FLAC. I replaced my Marantz CD-63 Mk II with an Eversolo DMP-A6 and all my CD music sits in a memory drive inside the Eversolo. So convenient! That said, during COVID, had plenty of time and found several boxes full of my old vinyl albums. Some from the 60’s which belonged to my dad! Amazingly my Technics SL-3300 turntable with a Shure V15 type II cartridge still works perfectly! I’m 71 and retired. I bought a Groove Washer cleaning kit and have been enjoying cleaning the albums. A slow process but I am enjoying myself getting the albums cleaned. I am pleased with how well the G2 & G3 cleaners work. Regarding high prices, I recently visited a record store. Must have been 20+ years since I visited one. Discovered Josey Records in Dallas and was surprised to find hundreds of albums at $2. Bought sone old Mantovani, Percy Faith, Ferrante & Teicher, and a few more for less than $20, very pleased. Incredibly, they are VG+ and with a little cleaning sound very nice. Only very few albums I’ve found where I can clearly prefer the vinyl version. Prime example is CSNY Deja Vu. I find the original 70’s pressing easily beats the new remastered digital version. Overall, I still prefer the pristine sound of a good digital source. But have to admit, having my turntable working and being able to play a vinyl record when nostalgia calls, priceless!
Nice post! Technics makes a great turn table if you got the dough… That’s cool you found a stack of your dad’s records. I’m actually getting ready to board a flight to Dallas as I write this! maybe I’ll hit that record store! Have a great day! God Bless! 😊🙏
Thank god I bought all my records decades ago and still have them. With a collection of over 8,000 there isnt much I need. I feel bad for those starting a collection these days at $50 a record! Only good thing about all the overpriced new reissues is that the OG pressings dont seem as high compared to new colored varient RSD junk :)
Iam 72 and still collect. Bottom line is you have to find cheaper stores. I strictly shop used vinyl. It’s a lot cheaper. Everyone is currently collecting vinyl so I quit the garage/estate sales. I have well over 4,000 pieces of vinyl and maybe 12 or so are 180 vinyl. Peace & Love
I know collectors with 4 or 5 copies of the same record. To each his own I guess… I have a few multiples but mainly from getting gifted the album or buying a bundle. Thanks for wondering! God Bless! 😊🙏
@@rudyonduty that is sad to know , i would prefer to buy albums that i like a few song than buy the same album again and again, normally are Lp´s that one heard so many times everywhere that today is dificult to play them much more buy more of the same
I agree Rudy. The price of vinyl is ridiculous. It has taken the fun out of the hobby. I’m also focusing on CDs and even cassette tapes. Thank you for your video. God Bless
Yes Brian, CDs are the bargain today…Cassettes too if you can find them. You can go broke collecting albums in today’s market. I think prices will get better eventually and that’s when I revisit vinyl. Thanks for your support Brian! God Bless! 😊🙏
I started collecting about 10 years ago. Prices have gone up tremendously in that time. I've been buying a lot for the past three to four years. My wallet is in pain, but my ears are loving it.
when in my country the stores that sold music in any format ,they closed and when opening ,no records for sale but in a space of 6 monthes they made a open air fair where all the records from all the labels including real alternative labels were all for sale at what today is 20 cents ,maybe less so i filled my biggest car twice and the third time i had to bring back home three of my friends who went there, the last i bought in a store was the compilation pure Cult with 4 records ,two live and two with songs from the LP´s, the cd if you sent a letter to the label they would return free the second live cd
Not always… depends on seller. My videos are all about being patient and finding deals, I am a very patient buyer and I’m willing to wait until the terms of the deal fit what I am willing to pay. if I don’t get the deal I want I don’t buy. That’s why I’m stepping back from vinyl because it’s just gotten so ridiculous. People are willing to pay ridiculous prices and shipping for records that it’s not worth it to me anymore. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend. God bless.! 😊🙏
Agreed, vinyl new & old is obscenely priced especially the last few years, now CDs, that's where the bargains are now. I think they sound better too. Good video as well 👍
Yes, I feel sorry for the new people just building a collection. I have been collecting for years and have most of the classic rock titles I need. The rest, well, I will not pay an arm and a leg. I am very selective these days. I did buy the "Oingo Boingo" re-issues when they came out and they do sound amazing. They look really good as well. I have checked the prices now and DAMN!! I am glad I got them when I did.
The way this works is supply vs demand. 10+ years ago there was a lot of supply and not very much demand, thus if you were selling records you were pricing them low. Today, there is more demand and that is why prices are rising. Not to mention the general inflation in this country. It's all cyclical. When you were going into a record store and CDs were costing $20+ dollars, the vinyl prices were super low because no one was buying them. Now it's swapped around. It's much easier to buy a new record player than it is to buy a CD player too.
I totally understand why it’s happening. I’m saying is it doesn’t make sense to buy in a market where the demand is so high. It won’t always be and when the demand fades like it always does… that’s where I’m a buyer again. Thanks for the comment! God Bless! 😊🙏
I've bought more than my share of overpriced vinyl so I suppose I've been part of the problem. But I'm backing off a lot now. I envision a time when the prices will crash, the current situation is not sustainable. A lot of people who bought as an "investment" are likely in for a rude awakening. I was bidding on a rare record and bid an amount that I thought had a reasonable chance of winning, the record ended up selling for 10X what I bid. Crazy.
With vinyl, it’s best to prioritize quality over quantity. Impulse purchases will quickly empty your wallet and you’ll have a shelf full of records you don’t listen to. It’s better to have 100 albums you love than 1000 albums you don’t care about. After 40 years of collecting I could stand to thin out my collection. If I could boil it down to 500 favorites, I think that would be ideal. Maybe someday! Regarding shipping, I don’t mind paying for shipping as long as the total purchase price is right. If I stuck to “free shipping” listings only, I would have missed out on many good buys. Besides, most sellers with free shipping have just rolled the shipping price into their asking price. So you’re not really getting it shipped for free.
Hi Rudy! You got yourself some good lp’s, they seem in extremely good condition! Enjoy your purchases! Yes, vinyl is way too expensive, they are beautiful to look at but for me, cds are the way to go. I have been listening to a lot of Phil Collins lately, I have always been a fan of his music. Rudy, let me wish you a very happy birthday for tomorrow the 26th! Many happy returns, and I hope you will have a wonderful day! By the way, I like the channel’s new name! God bless
Eleni! Always good to see your comments! You have lots of good insights and great taste in music! Phil Collin’s has been awesome from his Genesis days! Thanks so much for the birthday wishes Eleni so nice of you to say! And lastly glad you like the new name! Have a great weekend Eleni! God bless! 😊🙏
I agree with you about vinyl, way too expensive! I buy and sell mainly CDs in my eBay store and have a personal collection of about 500 vinyl and 4600+ CDs. I've been done buying vinyl for years. RSD is just an outrageous cash grab by the record labels on top of the already insane prices. I think CDs are the best medium.
Yeah, I quit buying records a year or two ago. Prices are stupid and stores dont carry the groups I like. The local owned shops have better laserdisc selections. When they do have something good, its usually some high priced collectable. The bins are filled with what use to be bottom shelf dollar records 30 years ago.
in my experience i only see new vinyl prices going up not down, it's ridiculous i've pretty much been priced out.the only way i've been able to pick up new vinyl really is trading stuff in to my local shop.
It’s not just the prices. It’s the lack of quality that turns into a crapshoot when you buy a vinyl record. Also all the games involved in vinyl. Having to learn all the proper pressing plants and who did the mixing. Being available and in the know of release days so you can get one before the scalpers buy them all. If you’re into all the complexity and costs, good for you.
Unless you collect some very old vinyl from the early 80's and before, and you can not find a remastered digital release in digital format, it is completely pointless to buy new vinyl with music from the 90's and later because all the master recordings were made digitally. Converting an original digital recording to analog vinyl you just introduce less dynamic range, noise, clicks and pops and wow & flutter. It's totally pointless.
I am a cd guy and I have never been tempted by vinyl, even though I know they sound awesome, and 50 dollars for a piece of plastic is robbery. By the way, Music for the Masses is my favorite Depeche Mode album...
I really dislike the cover art on 10 from 6. I love Oingo Boingo. I had a bunch of them when I was younger. I only have Good for Your Soul Now. I agree about prices. I’ve thinned my collection and changed how I collect. I subbed and look forward to more content.
I'm not quite done with vinyl, but being very selective on my choices. CD's are the obvious Back up if the prices don't come down! That may change if the labels bring the prices down a little.
Being selective is definitely the smart approach. I will only buy if I come across a deal… it just became exhausting looking for them so i’m giving vinyl a break for now. Good post! Thanks & god bless! 😊🙏
You can add my voice to yours. I have close to 4,000 LPs collected over 55 years. Many were collected at garage sales in the late 80's, 90's and first decade of 2000's. I won't even say what I paid but it was obscene (low). I'm down to about 8 LPs a year now, mostly filling in gaps for bands I love. Yes, I bid on and won a Mobile Fidelity Pressing of "Eat a Peach" by the Allman Brothers Band for $68 and it wasn't even from a record dealer. He said it was MINT and it was. On the other side of the coin, I paid way too much for "Pinkerton" by Weezer, also Mobile Fidelity (it was out of print when I bought it) and then, MoFi goes and rereleases it. I didn't think they did that. "Won't Get Fooled Again"! (On a positive note, I've read they have once again deleted it so if I wait long enough, it will go back up in value LOL).
All this stupidity with the prices, they are just ripping everyone off especially the kids, It can't last forever, this colour and that colour, I used to buy records to listen to and enjoy, Now everything is collectable ! I buy CDs purely for the enjoyment and pleasure of music for a snip of the price, Ranting Englishman 😊
$50 for an album or 50 cents for a CD I can immediately put up on my server? I think Bad Co is an example of a group to buy their individual albums rather than greatest hits, you miss too much otherwise.
I buy mostly old vinyl and cds, i also enjoy streaming. I cannot stand audiophile snobs and vinyl hipsters who pay ridiculous money for something that 15 years ago you could not give away. Limited edition banana yellow vinyl etc😂😂 away with that nonsense Best wishes from England.
Question about your comment regarding free shipping. You stated you paid $50 for the record with free shipping. So if someone was selling that same record for $45+$5 shipping, you wouldn't consider it even when it's the same amount of money?
That bundle of records I bought for $50 was an auction with free shipping. The reality is if I saw a smoking deal on vinyl or anything for that matter and somebody was charging me shipping that was reasonable of course I would buy it. But that’s very rare. Best I could tell is 99% of the time I don’t pay shipping. and the times that I do on eBay, I’ll submit an offer that absorbs the price of shipping. So in theory I didn’t pay it. What can I say? I’m a cheapskate.😂😂😂 God bless! 😊🙏
Gas is essential… Records are not. Also while gas prices are up they haven’t tripled or quadrupled in the last 10 years either. You have every right to buy records at drastically inflated prices. I choose not to. Thanks for the comment. God bless! 😊🙏
Prices have gotten out of hand. well, I enjoy final records. It’s really all about the music and if I have to buy it on different formats like CDs to save money, I will. Thanks for the comment. Have a greatweekend. God bless bless! 🙏❤️
I would love to get Only a Lad but that one is impossible to get nowdays. I have the second, third, fourth and fifth Oiongo Boingo albums but I think I maybe paid ten bucks for Nothing to fear and Good for your sould and the other two were very cheap. Love Oiongo Boingo, amazing band.
I bought a complete Pink Floyd Studio Album Collection twenty years ago on a Fleamarket for 2€ each Album....all original Pressings in Mint- Condition. I still have them 😁
i always bought records, between 94 and 2017 never bought one record but when in 2017 and while hearing to my old records i notice a lot of diference from the cd and the vinyl in a lot of albums when hearing for the first time some 90´s albums that i bought in cd i knew i had to buy records again but the most i paid for a record was 22€ and when a new album is released i record it to a reel , Cassette, DAT or Minidisc, when after at the most 3 years i buy it for 20€ or around it ,i have several cd players that are really good but my turntables are most of them from the 70´s and some i still have new substitution needles as the new ones are far from they used to be and incredible expensive on top, but my stock is ending ,as an example i have three turntables using the shure VNP-15 ,i put the last one on one of them but the ones i saw for sale are looking like a joke to record listeners , i had bought after 1979 ,only two turntables in the 80´s the PL-707 from Pioneer ,the SL-M1 from technics and in the 90´s the TD 2001 from thorens ,in total i have 37 good turntables ,being maybe the cheapest a Dual 1224 from my grandmother that died already for more than 10 years but it sounds perfect better than most of the Rega and Pro-Ject turntables, being this last brand the worst i eversaw at incredible high prices, only last december bought a new age turntable the P10 who sounds good with a Hana Umami red as i kept the alpheta 3 ,one of the three options of choice when buying it , but i have access Hana cartridges for a very low amount, it looks good and sounds ok but it seems that will never last more than 40 years like others i own, you just have to find them cheap, old ones i already have them so only new i sometimes when really liking it i have to buy the record and this diference i notice in sound quality being the cds always lower quality sound compared to vinyl or wax it gets bigger as you have better speakers or amplifiers ,if those cheap compact systems around 100€ are nice to have besides your bed to listen to music while trying to sleep or when trying to get up, but quit on vinyl is like quiting on music unless you record from cd to any of the formats i refer to that i don´t have the DCC from philips , but to a cassette or reel that is less expensive you´ll have a better sound, later you´ll find the records you want for a afordable price, keep on spining them records
for a few monthes while expecting a new power amp i bought a pioneer SX-604RDS ,it seems like the one you have behind you and was better than i ever thought
I'm your 700th subscriber! I don't bother with vinyl at all. I just get CDs, new and used. For new albums I just wait for the sales. Got Rolling Stones' Hackney Diamonds half price at my local HMV.
Thank you Christopher! I greatly appreciate you subscribing and supporting the channel! What a grind getting to this point! 😂😂😂 I’m with you! Buying more CDs these days for sure…. so much more music for the money. I was just listening to the Rolling Stones, Some Girls on vinyl today! Have a great day & God bless! 😊🙏
unless its extremely rare and I've been looking for it a long time I have trouble justifying paying any of the recent prices I've been seeing. there's plenty of records I see dozens of copies priced at $10 or less, then they get reissued for $30+ which just drives up the prices. for the first time ever in my decades of collecting music I've actually started buying more CDs and or burning more CDs in some cases.
There s a lot to say on your topic .i can only talk UK/Ireland really but things are the same as you suggest . I can tell you now I buy many but Ill not be paying these prices you mention .New vinyl £40 an album this Taylor Swift or whatever shes called .No chance and not even for a Beatles album . Mc Cartney putting out box sets delux they call them at prices like 150 to 200 .with maybe 5 cds and a bit of a book and albums that were poor to say the least anyway etc .Total rip off of fans .I bought 2 of the same of Cat Stevens even better made recently for 37 and 41 . Thats the deals to look for . .Also still check car boot sales etc .Not as good as they were but plenty of bargains . Then there these gangsters calked e bay flippers buying to sell there .They have ruined that avenue .Again buy nothing from them .Simple answer Plenty of good decent sellers out there yet and places to get bargains .Ill keep buying after 50 years but I can assure you there is no need to be paying the prices you rightly suggest that are being charged
Well considering what you get compared to shitty CD and if you watch for deals on Amazon your still gonna get LPs for a decent price. Inflation has put everything up. I pre-ordered the Darside of the moon 50th double LP UV clear vinyl edition for $ 50 dollars. I still think thts a good price considering what you get.
Hi Rudy. I like your old title "Rudy on Duty". I don't buy vinyl, it's way too expensive, plus I've no means to play them. I can buy loads of CD's with the same money. The only thing I enjoy about vinyl is looking at the artwork. Another advantage with CD's is the bonus tracks on them, that I'd never get with vinyl. I had my friend around today and using Amazon Alexa we were listening to lots of old songs totally at random. Happy birthday for tomorrow. 21 again 😀😀😀😀
Hey Peter! Rudy on Duty is still the youtube handle…. Please don’t unsubscribe! 😂😂😂 Been streaming more these days myself. Thanks for the birthday wishes Peter. Have a great weekend Peter! God bless! 😊🙏
I have a lot of vinyl releases that have a whole additional album of bonus releases, live tracks etc. But to be honest, I usually just want to hear the original album, and rarely listen to bonus tracks.
It’s not so much the younger generation (I’m 47), if u watch RUclipsrs who are around our age every week they are buying 5-10 of the latest releases and u start to feel that these are the people who are buying records just to buy and have on a shelf. They go hunting and stuff and again they buy just to buy. That has an impact on the market. That and the newer releases come at 2 records and a heavier vinyl and that sets a higher price. I’ve always been on the mindset of I’m not gonna buy it unless I’m really gonna enjoy it.
My best mate has around 700 album on vinyl and around the same on CD and he plays them on his old 90s Aiwa stack system every now and then, it sounds absolutely terrible and he’s only listened to around 10-20% of the albums. Myself I just stream Hi-Res and it sounds incredible, can’t be doing with hoarding things that I would never use…..
Condition and system is everything on vinyl. Storage is definitely an issue… I would be hanging onto anything that I didn’t list to or that sounded bad. Streaming sounds perfect for you! It’s a great option! God bless!😊🙏
it doesn't make sense for a vinyl to cost more than a CD in 2024, in terms of sound quality many of the new vinyls sound worse, but enthusiasts care about vinyl for many reasons, I personally don't get it, but just like people who prefer vintage cars, they don't drive better but people love them for whatever reason.
@rudyonduty Vinyl has become a gadget instead of simply a way to enjoy music. The problem is also that besides labels like Pallas and Analogue Productions mastering and pressings are totally sh#t! I quit buying and sold most of my new vinyl two years ago. Now IF I buy new music I simply buy the CD at €17 instead of paying, like on RSD, €32 or even €42 for a single LP.
i only have the first pet shop boys Lp and cost me maybe 3 years ago in mint condition , or i felt it never had been taken from the innersleve ever, paid 10€ only because there are 3 songs that have some detail i enjoy ,music wise or words wise, you´re paying a lot for your records i´ve bought some on Ebay but not even 20€ i paid, as an example was Dream syndicate live at the raji´s, i enjoy several songs from this band and it was a record recorded directelly into DAT but the vinyl sounds incredible good much more a live album with basic analogue instruments but if you hear the cd is unheardable compared with the vinyl my problem is the cd sound not nothing else ,only the covers were a sad to have them at a so tiny size ,as my original doble Lp is warped , a friend of mine let it catching sun, it happen three time so since 1990 not one record leaves home,i used to go to a store thinking "i´m going to buy this cd but when there i saw other i had to have so instead of one cd i used to buy two LP´s records
Stay with thrift stores, estate sales, yard sales, etc. I seldom pay a lot for records. I have been buying a lot of CDs. $1.00 each on average. The prices remain high because you keep paying them.
I totally understand… It’s never good to buy anything in a high demand market. I’ll wait for the market to come down before I buy again. And it will come down. God bless! 😊🙏
Too high and the quality is not that great. You have to pay more money for quality control. That is nonsense, put out good quality first and maybe I can see why they are asking for the high price. Make it make sense.

Oingo Boingo w/ Danny Elfman in a very small club and one the Best Shows (in Top 5).
that´s debatable
I own 33 records. And I won't buy any more. Even the money spent on those 33 makes me feel physically sick.
It's amazing how people can collect muliple copies of the same album Repress half speed $$$
With $30 I could get 3 or 4 CDs with that price at the record store I go to.
You are right Christopher! Even better at thrift stores and yard sales! Thanks for posting!
God Bless! 😊🙏
when in my country the stores that sold music in any format ,they closed and when opening ,no records for sale but in a space of 6 monthes they made a open air fair where all the records from all the labels including real alternative labels were all for sale at what today is 20 cents ,maybe less so i filled my biggest car twice and the third time i had to bring back home three of my friends who went there, the last i bought in a store was the compilation pure Cult with 4 records ,two live and two with songs from the LP´s, the cd if you sent a letter to the label they would return free the second live cd
You don't "pay shipping," but you don't realize that they just inflate the cost of the item to cover the shipping?
Not always… depends on seller. My videos are all about being patient and finding deals, I am a very patient buyer and I’m willing to wait until the terms of the deal fit what I am willing to pay. if I don’t get the deal I want I don’t buy.
That’s why I’m stepping back from vinyl because it’s just gotten so ridiculous. People are willing to pay ridiculous prices and shipping for records that it’s not worth it to me anymore.
Thanks for watching and have a great weekend. God bless.! 😊🙏
@@rudyondutyThe only sellers that do "free shipping" are desperate to get their crap out the door.
What a fantastic video have a wonderful weekend ❤😊
No matter what the purists says, cd is a superior medium. Nothing had convinced me otherwise.
Back in the 80s we were all told vinyl was finished but they cant replace it you cant beat it visually or sound wise
100% agreed
God Bless! 😊🙏
Things get cheaper to produce as you do them in greater quantities. Companies are being greedy
Are you a concert going? They are still touring with new singer. Was pretty awesome.
I treated myself with a great turntable / cartridge... haven't bought a record in 2 years because the prices are so ridiculous
Crazy.
Great point! You and I think alike! Have a great weekend & God Bless! 😊🙏
I’ve seen used tapes going for 20 bucks for a year now better buy all you want now if they are still cheap in your area
I'll never quit buying vinyl, but I've definitely scaled back. Luckily, I bought a bunch in 90s/00s when no one wanted it, and it was dirt cheap.
It’s Thursday 4pm and we have bad thunderstorms with rain. Lots of delays at DFW. LOVE Field is probably as bad. Good luck with your flight.
Even Salvation Army's Albums are 2 Bucks while CDS are Just a Buck Each!!!!
Thanks for the insight! Always like when folks yourself share some knowledge with the group!
God bless! 😊🙏
I have 75 LPs strictly for Nostalgia that's it... the rest is in digital format and I just have a very good DAC
I am a cd guy and I have never been tempted by vinyl, even though I know they sound awesome, and 50 dollars for a piece of plastic is robbery. By the way, Music for the Masses is my favorite Depeche Mode album...
I'm done with vinyl, too. And not just because of the price.
Ì agree but you still pay shipping if uts free shipping. I sell. I include the shipping in the price
All this stupidity with the prices, they are just ripping everyone off especially the kids,
It can't last forever, this colour and that colour, I used to buy records to listen to and enjoy,
Now everything is collectable ! I buy CDs purely for the enjoyment and pleasure of music for a snip of the price,
Ranting Englishman 😊
Agreed! I don’t get into the special pressings or colors although I have a few. I just want the music. Thanks for watching God bless! 😊🙏
Limited edition banana yellow vinyl etc😂😂 away with that nonsense
Best wishes from England.
I enjoy cds and vinyl but rarely buy brand new records as they are expensive and have had bad experience wuth terrible pressings.
I collect only music I like. At the record store usually 5 to 10 bucks. Splurged a coupke times on a 20 or 30 dollar record for ones i really wanted.
I’m a cheapskate.😂😂😂
God bless! 😊🙏
Curious....when you fill up the gas tank do you then take the gas station attendant a copy of your gas bill from ten years previous?
Gas is essential… Records are not. Also while gas prices are up they haven’t tripled or quadrupled in the last 10 years either.
You have every right to buy records at drastically inflated prices. I choose not to. Thanks for the comment.
God bless! 😊🙏
I won't quit on vinyl because of high prices. My purchases will be fewer in number and I avoid RSD and FOMO!
those prices are crazy. I only buy $0.99 classical now, everything else is outside my price range
Prices have gotten out of hand. well, I enjoy final records. It’s really all about the music and if I have to buy it on different formats like CDs to save money, I will. Thanks for the comment. Have a greatweekend. God bless bless! 🙏❤️
Excellent video. Price of new vinyl reissues is joke too
Thank you! It’s becoming the rich man’s hobby! 😂😂😂
Buying more and more CDs these days… Thanks for supporting the channel! God bless!

I still have them 😁
Awesome score! If I come across a score like that I’m a buyer again! 😂😂😂
God bless! 😊🙏
i always bought records, between 94 and 2017 never bought one record but when in 2017 and while hearing to my old records i notice a lot of diference from the cd and the vinyl in a lot of albums when hearing for the first time some 90´s albums that i bought in cd i knew i had to buy records again but the most i paid for a record was 22€ and when a new album is released i record it to a reel , Cassette, DAT or Minidisc, when after at the most 3 years i buy it for 20€ or around it ,i have several cd players that are really good but my turntables are most of them from the 70´s and some i still have new substitution needles as the new ones are far from they used to be and incredible expensive on top, but my stock is ending ,as an example i have three turntables using the shure VNP-15 ,i put the last one on one of them but the ones i saw for sale are looking like a joke to record listeners , i had bought after 1979 ,only two turntables in the 80´s the PL-707 from Pioneer ,the SL-M1 from technics and in the 90´s the TD 2001 from thorens ,in total i have 37 good turntables ,being maybe the cheapest a Dual 1224 from my grandmother that died already for more than 10 years but it sounds perfect better than most of the Rega and Pro-Ject turntables, being this last brand the worst i eversaw at incredible high prices, only last december bought a new age turntable the P10 who sounds good with a Hana Umami red as i kept the alpheta 3 ,one of the three options of choice when buying it , but i have access Hana cartridges for a very low amount, it looks good and sounds ok but it seems that will never last more than 40 years like others i own, you just have to find them cheap, old ones i already have them so only new i sometimes when really liking it i have to buy the record and this diference i notice in sound quality being the cds always lower quality sound compared to vinyl or wax it gets bigger as you have better speakers or amplifiers ,if those cheap compact systems around 100€ are nice to have besides your bed to listen to music while trying to sleep or when trying to get up, but quit on vinyl is like quiting on music unless you record from cd to any of the formats i refer to that i don´t have the DCC from philips , but to a cassette or reel that is less expensive you´ll have a better sound, later you´ll find the records you want for a afordable price, keep on spining them records
for a few monthes while expecting a new power amp i bought a pioneer SX-604RDS ,it seems like the one you have behind you and was better than i ever thought
it´s missing some keys that mine had above the display, but the box is the same

I don't bother with vinyl at all. I just get CDs, new and used. For new albums I just wait for the sales. Got Rolling Stones' Hackney Diamonds half price at my local HMV.
Thank you Christopher! I greatly appreciate you subscribing and supporting the channel! What a grind getting to this point! 😂😂😂
I’m with you! Buying more CDs these days for sure…. so much more music for the money. I was just listening to the Rolling Stones, Some Girls on vinyl today!
Have a great day & God bless! 😊🙏
I've worked at DP world last year (vinyl cd and dvd warehouse) trust me when i say that money ain't going to the workers
unless its extremely rare and I've been looking for it a long time I have trouble justifying paying any of the recent prices I've been seeing. there's plenty of records I see dozens of copies priced at $10 or less, then they get reissued for $30+ which just drives up the prices. for the first time ever in my decades of collecting music I've actually started buying more CDs and or burning more CDs in some cases.
I’ve gone to cd’s $1 at goodwill , records are So overpriced and it’s a business now where flippers use it to profit not of me
There s a lot to say on your topic .i can only talk UK/Ireland really but things are the same as you suggest .
I don’t blame you for leaving, modern day vinyl collecting is for the rich
Agree, I don’t buy many these days. The idea is to become very selective
Depeche mode, music for the masses...
Great Album! I actually saw them at the Rosebowl when they toured for that album and made the 101 video. Thanks for watching and God bless! 😊🙏
Been streaming more these days myself.
Haha Instead of buying a new Porsche or wearing Hawaiian shirts it’s our generation’s midlife crisis 🤣
You have a good taste in music sir.
Thank You! That means you have great taste too! Thanks for the Sub welcome to the channel! God Bless! 😊🙏
The good thing about buying Punk records is that new releases are around $20.
I could see this was coming so I started buying cds again before they start going up too
Smart, CDs are definitely where the bargains are… that’s where I spend most of my money on music. Have a great day! God bless! 😊🙏
it doesn't make sense for a vinyl to cost more than a CD in 2024, in terms of sound quality many of the new vinyls sound worse, but enthusiasts care about vinyl for many reasons, I personally don't get it, but just like people who prefer vintage cars, they don't drive better but people love them for whatever reason.
50 bucks and free shipping you´re paying the shipping and a lot more for 50 bucks, it´s only a ilusion
i only have the first pet shop boys Lp and cost me maybe 3 years ago in mint condition , or i felt it never had been taken from the innersleve ever, paid 10€ only because there are 3 songs that have some detail i enjoy ,music wise or words wise, you´re paying a lot for your records i´ve bought some on Ebay but not even 20€ i paid, as an example was Dream syndicate live at the raji´s, i enjoy several songs from this band and it was a record recorded directelly into DAT but the vinyl sounds incredible good much more a live album with basic analogue instruments but if you hear the cd is unheardable compared with the vinyl my problem is the cd sound not nothing else ,only the covers were a sad to have them at a so tiny size ,as my original doble Lp is warped , a friend of mine let it catching sun, it happen three time so since 1990 not one record leaves home,i used to go to a store thinking "i´m going to buy this cd but when there i saw other i had to have so instead of one cd i used to buy two LP´s records
Stay with thrift stores, estate sales, yard sales, etc. I seldom pay a lot for records. I have been buying a lot of CDs. $1.00 each on average. The prices remain high because you keep paying them.
No demand to buy and sell records 10 yrs. ago. Demand has gone up, so have the prices.
I totally understand… It’s never good to buy anything in a high demand market. I’ll wait for the market to come down before I buy again. And it will come down. God bless! 😊🙏
I find anything that is Rock, pop or related is way over priced for second hand.
Bidenomics, gas, burgers, insurance...vinyl too? Who can afford anything anymore?
Trumpomics we’re not much better. Can’t blame Biden for everything!
@@michaelleblanc7974 No sir, I don't blame everything on Biden, but he owns inflation. Is that the only reason records are expensive? Certainly not.

The price of vinyl is out of sight. Buy CDs and cassettes, it's more for your money..
Well said my friend! God bless! 😊🙏
I agree. You can usually get 2 brand new CDs for the price of 1 new vinyl
Too high and the quality is not that great. You have to pay more money for quality control. That is nonsense, put out good quality first and maybe I can see why they are asking for the high price. Make it make sense.
Yes. You stop buying vinyl. That’s one less digger that might get to a holy grail before me. 😂👍
Good one! Happy hunting and God bless!😊🙏
