I dropped out of buying music about 20 years ago. Pretty much just stopped listening to music about two years ago, but now I’ve gotten back into it. I’ve started listening to much more country music and classical music and so I keep an eye out for CDs for those two categories when I go to garage sales, thrift stores.
Hey Rudy! I hope you are doing well! I used to collect vinyl, but now I only buy cds, much cheaper, easier to store, easier to carry with me, they are just my one and only choice. Funny you mentioned Chaka Khan, I was just listening to her older music this morning. She is great. I buy my cds from Amazon and from a few used cds shops here in Athens. Unfortunately, a lot of record stores have closed and that’s a real shame. I just love browsing for hours! Favorite pastime ever! Have a lovely Thursday Rudy, God bless! I will check out the channel you mentioned, thanks ☀️☀️☀️🎼💿📀💿📀💿📀💿
Hi Eleni! I’m doing great & I hope you are too! Was real happy to come across the Chaka Khan LP! Always good to see your posts! Have a blessed week & God Bless! 😊🙏
New subscriber from California and I agree with everything you said about buying albums and CDs. I still pick up vinyl once a year, but my collection consists of CDs. CD is my favorite medium, a lot cheaper, easier to move around. I’m a CDer FOR LIFE!😊
Hi Rudy. I'm with you all the way, concerning vinyl v CD . Totally understand about living must come first. My daughter brought me a brand new CD for Christmas, Queen at the Rainbow live, so it's rare to get a brand new CD .
Peter! I hope you and your daughter had a great Christmas together! Always good to see your posts! Queen at the Rainbow live! Now that’s a gift! God Bless Peter! 😊🙏
My girlfriend and I have built a "media room" in our living room where we have a system that plays vinyl, CDs AND cassette. We mostly put on CDs and its what we have most of in terms of physical media and we love it! Always fun having friends over and having them choose a cd to play while we all hang out together. AND less stressful than letting ppl touch our records, much safer with handling a CD.
Yes. I am finally back after a health scare, all good now feel like a million bucks. Long time subscriber and viewer. So happy to see the views have gone up .Congrats Rudy! Fellow Canadian from Carseland Alberta. Love the channel, God Bless🙏
Hi Rudy: I love CDs. I do buy new ones, but I often find CDs while junking hunting for $1.00. They are a fabulous deal at the moment. Vinyl is always part of world though. Rock Always! - Heather
i found a kenny rogers, love will turn you around vinyl at goodwill for $2 and it was in perfect condition with the liner notes and mail in order form for kenny merch lol
Great video Rudy, yes I have to agree how undervalued Compact Discs are, I love records but cds sound so good, I buy them for around the same price in pounds in the UK. And its exciting looking for them in thrift stores etc, Many thanks for the interesting content 😀.
Good stuff! Just found your channel. I’m all about CD’s. I have somewhere around 2500 or so. I recently scored big at a library sale. 75 CD’s for .25 each.
Thank you so much. I’m glad you’re enjoying the content! I love it when you come across those nice scores like the one you got at the library sale! 2500 is a healthy collection! Have a great week and God bless! 😊🙏
Have to agree with you Rudy, cds are the go to every time.Love the Boston and Bonnie Raitt. Added Switchfoot, native tongue to my collection. A friend kindly gifted me a couple of Dio cds. Here's to a good year Rudy!
just found your channel & subscribed. I buy a combo of new & old cds. New cds are $10-20 USD which is still cheap imo & I buy them to support the artist & local stores around me that carry them. Besides price & storage, cds are the physical way to go in terms of convenience & sound quality as well. Portable CD players are reasonably priced on amazon too.
Thanks for the sub Kathy! Occasionally I buy new. I do agree with you that 10-20 is still a great buy and a decent CD player new or used is much cheaper than a turntable! Thanks again & God bless! 😊🙏
I will always buy CDS as long as they are still available. I have that Bonnie Raitt CD also. One of her best. I still have my original vinyl of "Ask Rufus." It was given to me by the late uncle. He got me into a lot of different genres of music that I listen to today.
D.Washington, Looks like we share some of the same tastes in music! That’s cool you still have the Ask Rufus lp your uncle gave you! My late uncle Nathaniel was in a soul group back in the 70s got me into a lot of the Motown artist. Thanks for supporting the channel & God Bless! 😊🙏
I was listening to 100% vinyl until one fateful day at Goodwill. I came across a Sony CDP-970 for $10. The tray opened so I thought I'd give it a shot. I brought it home and put on Styx - The Grand Illusion that I had bought for 25 cents. It sounded just as good as my much pricier vinyl setup! Since then I've been buying used CDs anywhere I can find them. I still have all my vinyl but I probably spend more time listening to CDs unless the vinyl pressing is just vastly superior.
Exactly this - right now if I buy anything on Vinyl it's to complete a certain collection - I am focusing now on CD box sets that came in the LP sized boxes with the big books - same 'artwork experience' better sound
Great video - I grew up with vinyl, but by the time I was making my own money, Cassettes & CDs were the way to go. I still buy vinyl here & there, but get angry when they sound like crap lol. My CD collection has grown from 200ish to 600 in the last few years…. Just in ‘24 I’ve picked up almost 100…. 😂 paying a touch more than you as I like to support local stores…but still the math adds up ! 100 CDs for about $350 …. I priced them all out in a mix of new & used Vinyl…. $2200 😮
CDs are still affordable especially used simply because there are more albums on CD than vinyl. You can still get CDs cheap, but I would say the golden age of used CDs is over. 2008 to 2018 people were dumping whole CD collections off at the thrift stores. Thrift stores were getting thousands of CDs every week. They would just stack them up on tables for just one dollar each at one point it got down to fifty cents each just because they had so many CDs coming in, they had nowhere to put them. I would go in and buy fifty to sixty CDs every week. When they got down to fifty cents one week I bought over one hundred CDs. I'm not going back to vinyl I like to listen to my CDs and burn to my computer and stream them to my stereo. I currently have four thousand CDs I stopped at that because I really have all the music I actually like.
I prefer CDs over vinyl, mainly due to space and cost. I buy and sell both new and used. Currently have over 4600 CDs in my collection. As long as CDs are around, I'll never stop buying them!
Same here buddy ima always buy cds. 💿 and sell them to make money Better sound quality u own the music and u suppoort the artist 🧑🎨 💿💿📀📀💿💿💿💽💽💽💽💪💪💪💪🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Nice video. I love vinyl, but the prices they have been currently taking have been pushing me to buy CDs, which I love anyway. For example, a few days ago I purchased 3 new CDs online from a record store here in Mexico. All three cost me US$15 including shipping. Those same three titles, on eBay, cost me $182 dollars + shipping to Mexico.
Thank you Luis! I appreciate you subscribing to the channel. I know quite a few people who are laying low on vinyl for now. You wouldn’t get one final record for $15… If you want music in a physical format CDs are the way to go. Have a great weekend and God bless! 😊🙏
Hi Paul, You got some cool scores! I’m a little jealous of the Abby Road. I actually got to visit the Abbey Rd., Studios probably about 10 years ago. It was pretty cool! Have a great week & God bless! 😊🙏
The guys in marketing are killing it with selling LP's. However I am killing it with the used CD marketplace. I have discovered many great artists that I otherwise would never have invested in. I know of one thrift store selling them for 25 cents. Great times for CD collecting.
Hi Brian, That’s wild CDS for 25 cents! And you’re right… for prices like that you get to try out so many different genres of music! Great times indeed! God bless! 😊🙏
I’ve been buying cd’s since 81 / 82 & have never looked back so u can imagine how many cd’s I’ve got..I’m still using the CD player I bought in 81 / 82 ( bought for $999.99 way back then ) got rid of all my vinyl in 81….
You bought top of the line for $999. I remember the first entry level CD players were about $500. I sold my Vinyl collection in 89 but started collecting again around 2003. Now vinyl prices are ridiculous so I mostly buy cds! Thanks for watching & God bless! 😊🙏
Just got back from a Record/CD show today, it was around 80% records, 20% CDs with a few cassette tapes and misc. memorabilia. Found The Monkees greatest hits, a Rhino records compilation with 20 songs on the CD, paid just $2 for it or 10 cents a song. A really good deal I think, also got Rod Stewart's Every Picture tells a story for just $2 as well. Got a Frank Zappa CD Freak Out for $8. A Barry White for $5, Billy Idol for $4 and Bruce Springsteen for I think $5 as well. All good deals compared to records.
Hi John, Looms like you got some incredible scores at the record/cd show. You would have been lucky to get one Vinyl record for what you paid for all those CDS! Have a blessed week! 😊🙏
Hi James, it’s very rare that I buy a new CD. Although sometimes I’m tempted. I think the last new one I bought was at John Mellencamp’s concert last year. have a blessed week! 😊🙏
Couldn't agree with you more, cds are alot cheaper than albums. I have never stop buying cds since I started buying them in 1988. And I also buy albums but not near as many as cds. I have thousands of cds , and hundreds of albums and cass. tapes.
