Thanks. I enjoyed this. I grew up with LPs and replaced most of them with CDs (while also buying new stuff) in the late '80s, '90s and '00s, then started buying LPs again when they again became more widely available as something more than a novelty. (There was a good 20 years there when you couldn't even buy a new turntable -- hardly anybody made them -- and the only LPs I was interested in were used ones that were originally recorded before digital took over.) You feel about CDs the way I used to feel about records. I was as surprised as anyone when 12-inch vinyl discs gradually became widely available and popular again in the 21st Century. Who knew? When I was a kid in the '60s and '70s, there was only radio and records for recorded music -- until cassettes and then 8-tracks came along (the former even outselling LPs for a while), but I was never into those. That was it, really. No internet, no .mp3s (or FLAC or ALAC), no streaming, no PCM formats at all. So, you have no need to justify your fondness for CDs. I share that affection -- and maintain collections of little silver discs as well as larger black vinyl ones, depending on the title. It's not an either/or thing for me. But CD prices are now climbing as record prices have skyrocketed. The only bargains left are in the CD format, and that likely won't last too long...
Thank you so much for the comprehensive response. I love hearing the perspectives of people who have lived through all of these different music formats. I was born in 1983 and we never had a turntable in my house growing up so my earliest memories are of listening to cassettes on my parents boom box in the 1980s. I only got into CDs in the 90s.
Hi greetings from great Britain Barnsley...interesting video man....CEASE AND DESIST CEASE AND DESIST....lol...ok..so im 58 so started buying cds around 87...ditched my 500+ vinyl in mid to late 90s ( kept about 10 for sentimental reasons).. I had a modest collection up until about 8 years ago...but as people off loaded their CD collections to charity and Ebay....in favour of renting music via Spotify...( streaming has its place...like comute to work...doing the garden and cooking a meal etc)..I bought 100s for very little out lay...crazy deals like velvet underground the who tom petty and the heartbreakers...for example less than 10 quid each....200 classical music CDs ( proper ones with entire works not crappy compilations of advert music.lol) for 8 quid at charity shop 7 years ago...hence my ceaseand desist gag...it good to see a younger guy keeping the CD flame alive though... I prefer CDs to vinyl....I had a pretty decent turntable in the 80s...still have....but the pure sound of CD was a revelation....almost like been in the room with the band....tellingly most classical music aficionado s who DEMAND the highest quality audio generally listen to CD...(and high resolution audio) ....its the less fussy pop n rock fans who dig vinyl....hey as long as people are listening to music it's all good.....Rory gallagher.....that guy was along with Richard thompson so so good.....arguably better than clapton.....definitely would have held his own with stevie ray Vaughan...ive built up most of the music I want....and the bargains are harder to snag....prices for CDS and DVDS ( I have 100s of Films and TV dvds as well) have shot up!!!!....as id said....CEASE and desist....that said I did worry they might sto making CD PLAYERS...so I bought a couple of spares my CD player I use is 30 years old...im 58....so im probably sorted lol....
Denon player may need a new laser beam; they get that way especially with sporadic skipping. If it skips in same spot, then it's the disc. Clean the discs as it could have mold or dust on it. I'm obsessed with cds and have always been. I'm 80,000 deep with 90% mostly jazz and soul with the rest being country, classic rock, rap, and blues in about that order.
Yes Indeed. I play in a Pearl Jam cover band based just outside Dublin. I have the original version of Ten on CD. I must pick up the Brendan O Brien remix. Are you a fan of Pearl Jam yourself?

Hi new subscriber from Sydney Oz. Great selection of CD's. I've done my version too if you're up to checking it out. I think "Black Rose" is a somewhat underrated album. I have it on LP and should play it more often. I have the PF "Discovery" boxed set which is a good way to get their (nearly) whole back catalogue. There have been a few Floyd boxed sets though. "Physical Graffiti" is my favourite Zep album. Cheers and Happy New Year mate. 👍😊
Well done lads. Promoting and Supporting music / artists by still purchasing music on physical format is something positive to come of this
Thanks Eric. 👍🏻
Oh yes. Love consuming CDs 💿.. I only buy Compact Discs.. Being collecting since 1988.. Have so many.

Great stuff. 👍🏻

CDs never left, I only buy CDs. I never touch the underside, I keep them mint condition and they play wonderfully.
same. get a good CD/transport and a powerful, clean amp and all is perfect.
Glen is very knowledgeable about a wide range of music and a great presenter. And he comes across as a lovely guy.
Great video, Rob. Super idea from Glen.
Thanks Pat. Yeah, great Idea. Fair play to Glen. 👍🏻
@WallofGain It is. I must do my one on it.

Brilliant video. I too have around 500 CDs. Still collecting, but I'm constantly looking for AAD CDs which sound the best...

You obviously like listening to Pearl Jam. Do you have their "Ten" album? That is my favorite Pearl Jam album.

@@WallofGain I don't really consider myself a fan of Pearl Jam, I just happen to like the song "Alive" that is on their Ten Album.
