Comic Speech Bubbles - Clip Studio Paint's Balloon Tool
This one's kind of a follow up to my last video about comic panels - but of course, you don't need panels to make use of CSP's built in speech balloons! This clever system combines vector objects and text to help you add dialog to your comics quickly and easily.

how are you typing the Hiragana/katakana? I have fallowed your steps and have a font with those characters selected.
If you're on Windows, there's a built-in function called Microsoft IME that you can turn on, and it allows you to type other alphabets easily. This site has good instructions for setting it up: www.coscom.co.jp/learnjapanese801/install_ime.html Once it's set up, when you switch to Japanese and type ke (for example), it'll come up with け. It has built-in suggestions to help with kanji too, so if you start typing わたし, it'll suggest 私. The IME doesn't always work perfectly in CSP, so if I'm having trouble with it, sometimes I'll just type in Notepad and copy-paste into CSP. If you're not on Windows, you can Google 'how to type Japanese' on whatever platform you're using and you should be able to find instructions. Hope that helps!

Do you mean use it as a template? You should be able to save the setup as a layer template (Edit -> Register Material -> Template), but I'm not sure how much work that'd save in this case.

Hi, i don't know if i'm missing something, but my brush does NOT use both my main and secondary color like it does for you at 0:40 for instance. I'm using an image of a simple grass blade that blends from black to white (bottom to top) in grayscale. I don't understand why it doesn't work. Do you have any idea ?
Nevermind, I found it. Just unitck "blend colors" in the brush parametres. I spent hours looking for a solution and missing this. Ah

What tool are you trying to mirror? Make sure you go into its settings (the little button that looks like a wrench) and turn on the Enable Snapping option under "Correction". Also, be sure View -> Snap to Special Ruler is turned on.

I was confused by the differences between Photoshop and Clip Studio’s masking tools. I didn’t understand why the black/white masking rule didn’t transfer over. Thanks for explaining it clearly and concisely.

Do you have a video that includes how to only paint inside a certain area without using the lock transparency setting? There are certain instances where that doesn't work well 😢
There are a whole bunch of different ways to do it. I only ever lock transparency once I'm sure I don't need to edit which parts are transparent again. I did a pair of videos on layer masking and quick masks, which I think might be what you're looking for? Yep! Go into the sub tool detail palette (the wrench icon), click on Correction, and turn on the checkbox "Enable Snapping". Then the eraser will work with symmetry.
Is there a way to make a custom tip only display when a stroke turns at a specified angle? I’m making a top-down grass texture and don’t want my side view grass blades rotating when I tilt my brush 45 degrees etc. The side view grass needs to remain horizontal. If I can set the brush to apply a different tip at different angles, it could fix that. And could I also apply different tips for different pressures? If you know anything about this it would help, thanks!
To the best of my knowledge, there's no way at the moment to make a certain brush tip only appear in certain conditions. That would be a cool feature to suggest to CSP, though!

My symmetrical ruler is not working properly, anything I draw comes out upside down on the other half, any advice you can give will help a lot.
Hi! Make sure the checkmark labeled Line Symmetry is turned on when you're creating your symmetrical ruler if you want them to be mirrored. With it turned off, it's a sort of 'pinwheel' effect instead, which results in it being upside-down.

@@Braque509 You're adding a lot of information to a file when you turn on timelapse - but it's still way better than using an external program like OBS to record. Those files can be multiple GB!

Is there no way to have it wrap around drawing or shapes?
With version 3.0, they added a feature to have text follow a circle. Unfortunately, there's no way yet to follow a custom vector shape beyond that. I hope they add it in the future!

How do you mean? It should work for any image. If you want to use the same brush tip as one of CSP's built-in brushes, you just need to find the brush tip from Materials and drag it onto a canvas, and it'll work like any other image.
