Quick update! In Clip Studio Paint version 3.0, font ligatures are now a setting in the OpenType features section. It's still under Font and in roughly the same place, but it looks a little different than in the video.
Thank you this was very helpful. I've been using csp for about 6 years but never tried anything fancy with the text tool. I didn't know it could do all that!
That was GREAT! Thanks so much! I don't know how you learned all that. Instruction in this program seems scanty at best. I'm constantly stumbling through it, trying to figure out how to make it do what I want. You clarified a lot of things.
You are really good at explaining and presenting things. I usually draw my balloons first and apply the type inside. Do you know, is there a way to control the inset of the type block? (The blank space around the type.) For me, it is always too much for the balloon.
Hm... to the best of my knowledge, the only way to change the distance between the text and bubble is to resize the bubble or the text. You can at least resize around an object's center point by holding down the Alt key, which makes it a little easier, but I'm not aware of any way to adjust the text for a better fit other than manually. If you do find a way, though, let me know!
Hello, will you be planning on making a custom speech bubbles/balloons guide? I can’t seem to find a proper tutorial for not pointed tails as well.. Thank you..
Some of the tips are very useful to me I still can't believe we don't have a tool to make the text follow a line or to around a circle like Corel or Photoshop have from like for ever
I know they're a little late to the party, but they did release circular text paths in version 3.0! Still no ability to draw a custom vector and follow that, but the circles are a nice feature to have.
Clip Studio added text along a circular curve with version 3.0, which is a good start at least! I'm hoping they'll add the ability to set text along a custom vector curve in the future, but that's not in yet.
Unfortunately, no text on paths. :( They did add text along a circle in the 3.0 update, so it's a step in the right direction. Hopefully they'll add more customized options soon!
Which part isn't working? Remember that you have to rasterize the text before you'll be able to do any of the other methods in tip 9; none of them will work without that first step.
With version 3.0, they added a feature to have text follow a circle. Unfortunately, there's no way yet to follow a custom vector shape beyond that. I hope they add it in the future!

You're a saint, glad I checked youtube for a quick video on how to add some basic effects to text!

I love your tutorials!!
Okay, this has won me over. I'm a sucker for anything that plays with text/fonts.
You are fantastic; pleasant to listen to, clear in your instructions, and economical with time!!! Thank you very much. Enjoy your day Ms. RedNebula.

I'm actually working on a couple of CSP comic creation videos for later this month, so I'll cover speech bubbles in a little more detail there!
@@MsRedNebulaArt oh wow thank you very much!

Can you curve your text in Clip Studio Paint, r do I need to use Gimp, or Krita to achieve this?

Nice video and i definitely learned something! Although i came here hoping i would find out how to put a text on a path. I guess you can’t :,)

out of curisity, what if I wanted to make a text that has 1 base colour, an outline colour and then a white edge?
Do you mean a double outline? Sure! Use the text's Edge feature for the interior border, and the layer's Border Effect feature for the outer border.
Method 9 doesn’t work on my Clip studio what should I do?
Which part isn't working? Remember that you have to rasterize the text before you'll be able to do any of the other methods in tip 9; none of them will work without that first step.
Thanks for the video, I used to be able to put a border on my text but since the update, I can't find it , can anyone help please, thanks
What version are you on? I'm on 2.1.4 and all of the options for borders are still there and working as far as I can see.
@@MsRedNebulaArt thanks for replying, I'll have to look it up
@@MsRedNebulaArt 2.2.0 thanks
@@MsRedNebulaArt I found it , thanks
@@bscartAh, good! I'm sorry, I didn't have a chance to look into it yet. What ended up being the problem?
Is there no way to have it wrap around drawing or shapes?

Mine doesn't have an add font from file button😔
Do you have an older version? That feature was added in 1.11.6.
