This short video will show you how to identify high quality saffron by looking at the threads. If they have too much yellow, the quality is inferior because the yellow part only adds weight and traps moisture.

Monterrey Paella Festival 2017 Passing out the saffron
Sorry Vanilla Pompona is not the same as Tahitenses.
That bag of saffron has to be super $$$$$
that is a 5 kilo bag.
You're using vodka here. What do you think about using rum or bourbon?
You can use all of them. The important thing is to have patience and let the extraction take time. 15 days ok, 30 days better, it will never spoil because of the alcohol the more time the better. Juan
Any liquor will do. It does not need to be expensive but if it is organic will be better. If is clear is better. If it has "color" it probably has "caramel color" added.
I appreciate this. You refer to leaving the pod skins in sugar for 15 days. Is there anything to be gained from leaving them in longer? I've left them for years and never thought about it!
Yes you can leave as long as you want or until you need them as they never spoil and the sugar will keep adding more aromatic vanillin notes. When the bean is dry as wood put it in your coffee grinder or in your tea.
I've placed a second order with you. A few years ago I bought 1-oz Saffron and 1/2 pound Madagascar Bourbon vanilla. Wonderful flavors. This time I bought 1/2 pound Madagascar vanilla and 1/2 oz saffron and 5 gram saffron kit for a neighbor to try as a Christmas gift along with some vanilla pods. Merry Christmas to you and yours 🎄❤
Many say, to use airtight or vacuum seal bottles, what do you think sir?
The extraction will take its course no matter how you do it. All you have to have is patience as it takes time. The more the merrier, the flavor and the aroma will increase as time goes on.
You do not need to vacuum just keep it close and turn it around every so often.
Can you refill the bottle with alcohol once it is half empty?
Yes, and add some beans also.
Thank you great video very clear I'll definitely know how to do it properly!😁
Hola Senor Jan, very useful information about vanilla beans quality. I'm a 1 st time producer of Vanilla Tahitensis in Vietnam. In 2025 I'll have my 1st harvest and wish to be your 1st vanilla supplier from Vietnam.
Where to buy?
saffron.com
Two questions- 1. What was the ratio of water:saffron in your video? 2.Is this water safe for drinking throughout the day?
It all depends on how many people you are cooking for. You put water in refrigerator day before cooking to get the most out of the saffron.
I can supply the vanili with competitive price
Tahitian vanilla bean skin is very rough. Planifolia is very soft on touch.
Correct,. Vanilla planifolia is the true vanilla. Pompona is a cross. It has very thick skin a less vanillin.
Thank you
excelente video y estoy de acuerdo con sus comentarios, donde puedo encontrar el decreto que menciona? en internet no lo encontré, saludos y muchas gracias.
perfecto dear Juan

Good
Good Information I am From India vannila farmer
Personally, I just slit 2 or 3 beans lengthwise and fold them in half and put into a pint bottle of my favorite white rum. Let it sit for a few weeks to a few months for a heavier flavor. Also, you can scrape the pods for extra flavor when the liquid is gone, or put them in sugar. Possibly with a few fresh orange skin pieces.
It you chop them up you will get more millage as there is always "vanillin oil left on the vanilla pod".
Thank you so much! 👏👏👌👌
Love your Saffron! I have been buying it for years. Always an excellent value!
If the saffron turns white after being soaked for 1 hour, is it authentic or fake?
How to increase bio availablity of saffron sir ?
My recipe calls for 1.8 grams. But My weigh scale is too cheap I guess to accurately weight the threads! Returning to pinch & half pinch.
1.8 is a lot of saffron? What are you cooking? How many people?
wtf is a pi ae ya
Thank you, it was Quick and clear
Your saffron is a bit too orange. It should be more yellow.
David, the reason is a bit orange is because I put too much.
I am learning a lot from your videos. Glad to have expert guidance. Happy your products are fair trade!

You do not need to refrigerate put them in a glass container. They may dry a bit but the vanillin oils are there.

Thanks for the information, very helpful
fake crap misinformation tahitian vanilla pods are huge stop spreading fake news
I recently order vanilla beans from this company and was very impressed with the quality of beans. I have ordered from four different companies prior to this purchase and will continue ordering from this company. They are by far the best product for the money.
Hello Jackie. Thank you for your purchase and your comment. Vanilla beans quality for us is very simple. If the vanilla farmers does not cure his own beans we do not buy from him. Why? Because vanilla beans have to be cut one by one when yellow at the tip, this is when nature tells the farmer that the beans is fully matured and the vanillin sacks inside of the vanilla bean have fully matured. (The vanillin is a preservative and helps with the curing of the bean). If the bean is green when cut it would not be fully developed and therefore no matter how hard you try to "cure" it would be of poor quality. Our vanilla farmers understand NATURE'S mature developing as the bean will be bigger, there will no mold issues, the shelf life of the vanilla bean will be in definitive and because of the higher weight and quality the farmer will get more money and we will get better quality and because we buy directly from the farmers group better pricing. Please look at the video with the vanilla bean pictures. Thank you, Juan

Hola Jose Antonio. Perdona no habia visto tu correo. Has tu pregunta de lo que sea en relacion a la vainilla y te contestare con mucho gusto.
How long befor the vanilla will be ready
At least a month. You have to be patient. The more you age the better it will get.
