Great video. Can't wait to see your video about this trip.
Thanks! I’m looking forward to it!
Very interesting as always.
Thank you!
I’m from Boca Raton not far from Ft Lauderdale. You’ll love riding there
I can’t wait!
this should be a warranty issue. They should fix this fee of charge.
The dealer fixed it, but now it fails on occasion.
That is discouraging. For as much as can ams cost, this should not be an issue. I am very new to can am, a friend told me to look up your videos and start watching and learning. Went and test drove on last night for the first time which was an unexpected blessing. I am trying to decide between an rt limited, or a honda goldwing with a trike conversion. This has not been an easy decision so far. Thank you for your videos and all you do for the community. I would love and greatly value your opinion on which direction to go between the two. Thank you Sir.
@ the seat shock mechanism failing is a common issue with these machines. I really appreciate you finding my channel and I hope my videos helpful. If you scroll through the playlist of Can-Am Spyder Observations you might find a few helpful videos. As to the comparison with the Goldwing trike I actually considered both as an option. But it seems if you want a Goldwing trike you essentially need to fly down to DFW for a conversion, and I wanted a factory machine. Best of luck in your process.
Thank you very much. Yes, I do like the idea of it being all one piece from the factory. I do love the reliability of the Goldwing. But it seems a lot of people have had good expeeiences with the spyders too. I will check out more videos of yours for sure
You’ll love the trip to Key West. There are so many bridges with amazing views of the turquoise water that you’ll drive over, including the 7 mile bridge. (Don’t forget to say hi to Fred the tree growing on the old 7 mile bridge). I’ve been there many times, so if you need any advice of places to visit in Key West, feel free to reach out to me.
I’m so looking forward to it!
Congratulations on getting 2K subscribers! I have enjoyed watching all your videos. You have shown me that New York is not all concrete 😂. Thanks again for sharing your story and experiences.
Thanks for watching!
Good luck on planning your trip. Can't wait to see the videos.
Thanks!
My wife and I take trips in the summer with a leesure lite trailer. So camping all the way. We can do about 300 miles a day. 350 miles is pushing it for us. 300 is our magic number to our next camping spot everyday and also site seeing
Summer will be here before you know it.
Awesome video. Your trip to Hollywood FL should be epic. Safe travels. Keep us posted.
Thanks! Will do!
Just I a thought, Daytona bike week is around the first week of March. If you love motorcycles, it’s a must to go. I been going for last ten years. Then leave and ride on to Key West.
It’s too early for this trip, unfortunately.
Great video Chris keep up the good content. Also one of things I have done with my Spyder RT was purchased a pull behind trailer best thing I done it's awesome
I usually travel solo so I don’t need a trailer at this point. But they do look cool.
Great video looking forward to seeing your trip. I plan on doing some small trips first next year. All in the Midwest Indy, Cincinnati, and maybe Kentucky for some three wheel biker events.
Those are great places. I used to live in Louisville.
Congrats on your 2K subs! So, riddle me this Batman - have you noticed any difference in performance when it comes to gas? I've found that my Spyder really "likes" QuikTrip gas, followed by ExxonMobil. I think that the engine isn't keen on additives - I've used Valero, and although it's great for my car, the Spyder runs rough on it due to the ethanol. I know your brands are different up there, but any observations on that?
I really haven’t noticed. I’ve used 91 and 94, but can’t tell the difference.
@SpyderChrisYT Not grade, brand. I always use 93.
@ I haven’t noticed a difference between brands.
Congratulations on 2000 subscribers!! That's amazing! That Florida trip is going to be epic! Weather is always paramount when I travel on my Spyder. I run three weather apps on my phone just to be certain that I can safely ride. Cheers Chris and, again, Congratulations!
Thank you!!!
Got my Fobo TPMS and love it, great advice. Got my lights from Sling Mods delivered and looking forward to getting them installed. I find riding below 45 degrees gets a little tough. I did get some heated gloves and even though the grips are heated they help a lot. Proper clothing for the weather is critical and with the Spyder I can ride to work in the cooler weather then store the heavy clothing in the frunk for the ride home. A full face helmet is great for colder weather but I really like an open face when nice, looking at the LS2 Advant X helmet as an all in one solution. Asked Santa for it, guess we will find out if I have been good this year.
I’ll have to check out that helmet. I hope Santa brings it for you!
I heard that a drive-belt tensioner is a good option.
When you enter the keys turn onto card sound road. Do not take highway 1. Card sound road takes you through a Marsh area where all there is is a road through the swamp. It is very cool.
Thanks for the tip!
I just did this trip on my Spyder a couple weeks ago.i left Schenectady NY which is near Albany on a Wed about 730am and did 600ish miles into NC the 1st day.2nd day left NC about 5am and was in Daytona by mid afternoon.3rd day left Daytona again 5am and was in key West by 330pm.the 100mile trip from Miami to kw is absolutely amazing you will love it.make sure you take a break at the 7 mile bridge.the way back I did in 2 days 900 miles the 1st just past south of the border and then 830 the 2nd day to home.my suggestion is get a early start every day that will make the 1st couple hundred go easy.4000 rpm is 76-78 mph so be prepared to stop every 140ish miles for fuel which kinda sucks.its a amazing trip and very doable.might want to look into some heated gear.on my way home it was 30's in Pennsylvania and that was not fun.also don't be surprised with some neck pain 10-12 hrs of riding with a helmet on can be difficult.im trying to go back down in March for bike week but it will all depend on weather.my trip was 3400 miles so you might neee a oil change before you go also.good luck and enjoy.its a awesome experience
Wow! That is awesome! I’m even more excited now. Thanks!
What rain gear do you have?
I have Frogs Toggs rain pants, a cheap Columbia waterproof windbreaker (that I don’t use much anymore because my new riding jacket has a waterproof outer shell. I also have, but don’t always use, a pair of gaiters that cover up my boots and lower shins.
Love the videos
Thank you!
I've been using FOBO for a while and added a set as soon as I got my Spyder for the reason you mentioned (accessing the back tire) it seems to work really well. I've heard some people say they weren't as accurate out of the box and reset / set them themselves? The only comment I will make it that once you aren't moving the sensors go to sleep to save battery life so checking the tire pressure from your hotel / motel room more than likely won't work. Sadly even starting the bike sometimes won't wake them up and you have to move a bit. I know it kind of defeats the thinking but I've found that to be the case. ALSO very important for me is that if you do not have the app opened up (background seems to be ok) you might not get any alerts. I don't know if this is an apple thing or a FOBO thing but removed mine put air in the front tires and never got an alert. Also check if there are any firmware updates as the process is a little involved and you don't want to be doing on the rear tire of the spyder if avoidable.
Good advice, thanks!
My local dealership charged me $675 for the 3000 mile service and only changed the oil. Oh, and checked the torque on the rear axle. Bad seat shock they would be happy to change it for $300. 😂
I’m lucky to have a good dealer.
That power source is a great option to have .
Another great video Chris.
Thank you!
Oh, I thought this was an evaluation of the Can Spyder. That was my only interest.😊
I have countless videos evaluating the Spyder. Check out my video lineup.
Thanks again for an insightful video! I don't vlog, but I do record my rides from time to time. I used to have a GoPro (gave it and all my kit stuff to my niece who IS a vlogger!) but I swapped it out for the Insta360 X3. I LOVE that camera, and my videos are here at RUclips. The 360 degree view means no need to fret about camera placement and angle, and I can see the blinking recording light easily. I also bought a 1 TB microSD card and two backup batteries. The batteries reside in a recharger that is connected to a USB C cable plugged into my rear RT Limited trunk's port - this way as I wind down a battery, I can stop and swap! I also have a mount that is on my dash, but I'm planning on getting a selfie stick to mount on the rear passenger arm. Finally, the Insta360 does NOT have built-in GPS (a battery burner) so I bought their wearable GPS device (it's on my wrist like a watch) that not only pairs with the camera, but acts as a remote power on and record button!
I’m seriously considering adding an X3 (cheaper now than the X4). Will shoot a video on the subject shortly.
BTW, I use DaVinci Resolve (free version) to edit on my PC. I used to use Clipchamp, but it used up so much disk space on my computer via temporary files it didn't dump after use. @@SpyderChrisYT
Well I bought two xbox mics for the gopro and they work great, as they stretch just enough to get into the helmet and provide good audio
I’m not versed in X Box so I’ll have to do some Googling. I’m glad it works for you. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing this. I have always wondered how this is done. I always assumed that it was a lot of work, which is why I appreciate your videos. I hope that you don't spend any time with the keyboard warriors with the negative comments. I think your videos are done very well.
Thank you very much!
No body liked your MUSIC though…😂
Ren on RUclips has a ton of video and music that is not copyrighted. He allows use by everyone. Ren is really good 1st time I’ll ever recommend Rap as background music but Ren is not like most rappers. Don’t rap/sing about whores Drugs and the like. You could use Ren for background music. He’s has over 200 uploads!!!
I am thinking of video logging my spyder travels. By watching these videos might want to do you tube videos myself. My helmet has a cardo pactalk edge, that was my next question do I need seperate mic.
I’m not sure if your Cardo will work. Try Googling the topic. I know my Sena won’t work.
Appreciate it
Just google and my cardo states I could use my comm system for motovlogging without cables or microphone adaptor, only thing is sound quality.
@ that’s great. Try it and if quality isn’t to your liking you can always add an external mic later.
Do you use a modular or full face helmet?
Thanks for posting I learned a lot on the in and outs of making a good quality video.
I’m glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching!
I good insight into Moto Volging, thanks.
Thanks for watching!
My eco mode stopped working on my 2022 spyder Rt. Your calculations make me think that getting the eco mode. Fixed will be a waste of thanks
I did this more recently eco mode test. I will not be using eco mode again. Thanks for watching. Can-Am Spyder ECO mode test - FAILED! ruclips.net/video/oLF_nJxlo6M/видео.html
Your video came at just the right time. I'm in Kalifornia, oh well.
Thanks for the info
Thanks for watching!
Thanks very helpful , if you find how to use your helmet microphone I sure would like to know. I have a 2019 RT and live in Idaho and also wanting to start my own channel, Thank you!!
I believe there are some helmet intercoms that will work with a camera, but not mine. Yours may. Try Googling with your model helmet intercoms and camera models.
Exactly the kind of video that I needed to improve my channel! I, like you, don't need or want all the bells and whistles for my vlogs. I just need the right camera to share the fun and the joy that I have while riding my Spyder. Thanks Chris.
I’m so glad you found this helpful. I often think about adding another camera but the complexity frightens me.
Thanks to your video, I recently purchased these and installed them, which helped me tremendously. This is a must-have product,
Glad I could help!
I would think the locks are not just for theft but also to keep the caps from coming loose and losing air since that is all that holds it in when they are installed. They have to push the scrader valve down so air can get to the cap to be able to test the pressure. I would install them for sure.
You may be right on that. I need to reconsider.
Thx for sharing your long ride Spyder Chris
Thanks for watching!
Chris, you publish very interesting rides. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for watching!
Totally new at this, bought my 2024 Spyder RTL at the beginning of October and your videos have really helped me. Regarding the FOBO 2 For Trike: I bought and installed a set but due to other concerns left the Trike in the garage for a few days. Every day, ALL THREE tires lost one PSI. If only one lost pressure I would deem it defective. With all three loosing pressure inside an enclosed garage made me suspicious. Returned the set before the return period expired. Anyone else have a similar experience?
Congrats on the new RTL, and sorry to hear about your loss of tire pressure. I’ve been using FOBO for a couple of weeks now and haven’t had an issue. You might want to go to the Spyder forums (Google “Spyder Forums”) and post a question there. You’ll see other posts about FOBO that may be helpful. I hope you get this resolved soon.
If your tires have proper tire pressure and alignment the twitchiness come from that death grip. The proof is from damn near every two wheel motorcycists reviewing a Spyder for the very first time. Within 3 minutes of their review they are typically commenting on the bikes twitchiness and tendancy to "".find ruts" in the road ESPECIALLY the ones that didn't like the bike before they ever sat on it. You should know WHERE you are riding matters as well of course. The roads and highways in Germany, where I have ridden an RT before, are SUBSTANTIALLY better made and maintained than in the USA. Thanks for pointing this out Chris. Nice post sir, in the words of coachBob I'm giving you a " big ole fat thunbs up"😊
Thank you very much!
You can still hit the pavement as hard on a 3 wheeler, then being on a 2 wheeler. You’re just as exposed. The pavement doesn’t care what you’re riding!!!
I’ll like to see keyless and automatic
I totally agree.
Looks a good product.
Thanks Spyder Chris
I also thought twitchy for a while, I think coming off of a two wheeled bike I was oversteering. I saw a comment by someone CB I think that said only steer with one arm or the other don't use both. It is just a getting used to thing.
2024 RTL
Hi Chris, I have the 2024 Can-Am Spyder RT. Do you know if BRP upped the output of the alternator since over the years the output have been going up? Have you looked into the possibility of changing out the handlebars for one the is fully adjustable like the Helios Handlebar System? Looks like a nice must have!
I haven’t heard about improvements to the alternator. My understanding is the 2020-2025 models are the same on that front but I may be wrong. Regarding the handlebars, I like mine the way they are, so I wouldn’t want to change them out.
Chris what a beautiful story of my Spyder content. You made my morning, you know as a creator it’s so rewarding to help others through our videos. I will forward to my daughter thank you ride safe 😊
Those lock nuts are to keep the stem head unit from vibrating off the valve stems. USE THEM Those metal valve stems are a must, they take the stress of the units being spun at rpm without breaking, your rubber valve stems will do in time. USE THEM Products are made to a standard of though and care by people who actually care about riders. If you really just wanted easy install and all, you could have saved a little money and bought a much simpler unit. Like your videos, but you have missed the mark of quality information on this one. IMHO.
