Definitely think the flywheel was the issue on this one Whenever he’s ready for a 05 Rmz450 for a trade send him to Michigan lol Great vid as always Thank you for taking us along
I agree, thanks for watching and commenting
Good video Sometimes a different look helps for sure Keep giving these videos please
Thank you.
Another great video!!!
Thank you sir!
That bike looks mean as hell with that shark's mouth!
She had some power. I need another 250 2 stroke!
Love the content RR! You've inspired me to look for an old 125 two-stroke father/son project. Question, how old is too old and what make would you lean towards for success? TY
Stick with Japanese bikes. Mid 80s up (water cooled). Hondas are most sought after so the price will be higher. May have parts issues with the older bikes though. Thanks for watching.
Really enjoy your content!!👊 Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Thank you. Happy holidays.
Really enjoying the videos, appreciate you putting them out 👌
Thank you. I appreciate your support
About to do my top end and the piston in the head install is a great idea

@ΘοδωρηςΖηγκος-β2μ πριν από 1 δευτερόλεπτο good evening my friend I have the same problem with my kxf 450 2010. I see your video but I can't understand what the problem was with your kxf. could you explain to me from here? my english is not very good that's why i can't understand
The coolant temperature sensor was damaged.
Question kx250f 2016 cold start with choke has real high rmp on choke and hard tu start Love the vids ❤
The RPM will certainly be high when the “choke” circuit is engaged. Hard to start, I would check your valve clearances.
Hi Peter ! What grit can i use for honing a cylinder ? you use a 320 grit but i only find a 180 grit for a 96mm cylinder. Can i use it ? Thanks a lot !!
No, 180 is far too coarse. a.co/d/29NNFOE
@@restoroosterohv I'm not in USA, my Amazon is different. I only find 240 grit in my diameter. Too coarse?
@@juju-of2by Go lightly with a 240 grit. Us plenty of oil to lubricate the walls
@restoroosterohv OK I will. Thanks Peter.
You’re welcome
Fantastic, thank's. You don't dissambly the lower part of the fork, i have traubles on it. I made the special tool for desassembly but in one leg the screw on the bottom don't lose, instead the cartrige open, any suggestion? Thank's.
You never seem to have trouble with swing arm pivot bolts. Must be the magic hammer. Thanks for sharing
I’ve had to beat a few out for sure, but I’ve never had one crazy stuck yet. Let’s keep it that way, haha. Thanks for your comment.
Underrated channel, made me rethink a few things I’ve done to my bike over the years
I appreciate that
No air box and just a pod filter for a dirt bike along with no oil man oh man that bike was doomed from the start
Happy Holidays 👍👍
Yes, to you and yours as well
What band is the intro song ?
Tiger Gang - Horcrux
Those silencers are PLENTY LONG… are they serviceable? Could u shorten it and cap it off like stock again??
Just have to buy the OEM baffle. Not worth spending the money because people just take them out anyway.
& u betta bet i keep the old levers depending on how bad the r or not bcuz we ride a lot out here, u neva kno who made need it on a short notice to finish the ride… 🤷🏽
Ahh the good ol ttr those r some legit bikes that’s the 1st bike I ever put a top end & valves on, that’s wat started it all reliable as hell if ur staying on top of the maintenance! 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽
I seen them with NO oil In them and still running
Question Have you purchased yz250f cylinder piston from eBay before with success or do you think this would be a ticking grenade waiting to cost a lot more?
With Chinese parts, you are taking a risk. I have used the aftermarket piston and cylinder for the TTR 125 and they are pretty solidly made. Of course that’s a mild engine that doesn’t rev very high. Little different story with the race bikes
Yes in my toolbox also
Thank you for your comment
Hi Rooster, just love the videos and currently watching your latest on the TT model. I seen when you opened the carb and it was truly ugly. If I may make a tool suggestion, get yourself a ultrasonic cleaner. It would easily have cleaned that carb in 30 mi utes and all the jets too. I was sceptical about them being able to clean badly gummed, and varnished carbs but they make easy work of them and will save you a few bucks too. I bought mine from Vevor and have been totally impressed as I see so many gummed up carbs and people who use ethanol fuel and then leave their bikes outside in the element's too causing big time issues. Anyhow I encourage you to look into it as it will save you a few bucks. I first watched it from another RUclips person fixing bikes, quads and sxs, etc. After seeing you with the endoscope/bore scope I'm putting my order in. Although I'm from BC Canada and suspect I won't be able to use your code for a savings but I liked your intro to it and can see the benefits. Keep up the great videos as I've learned a few tricks from you and appreciate your abilities. Cheers!
As long as you use my link, I’ll get the credit and I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t use my discount code (if they have a better offer when you get to the page, feel free to use that). Thanks for your advice, I do have an ultrasonic cleaner and they work fantastic but I generally don’t even bother with a carburetor this bad, just asking for a lot of troubleshooting time afterwards. I am a huge advocate for using ethanol free fuel if you watch any of my videos and that’s what a lot of my merch is about. Thanks for your comment.
Subscribed because i saw the clip of durhamtown
Thank you. My other channel has more of the riding stuff and a ton of Durhamtown content. It’s our favorite place to ride.
@restoroosterohv great video btw I'll make sure and sub too maybe I'll see yall out there soon. We're going for a weekend in Feb
Let me know
I love it this videos❤
Thank you
The 40hp mod 😂😂😂
It appears to be quite popular with the TTR
Haha...lol. man I have a drawer in my shop full of levers. You never know when you might need it.
My thoughts exactly however, I don’t think I’ve ever used one
Oh yeah, I'm one of those guys that saves the lever. lol Another great video!!!
Thank you
32:16 another ghostly evp pick up dam got to on ur ideos. Pretty cool
Haha, thanks
Great work, will make some kid a great bike!
Hope so. Thanks
The original owner contacted me after watching the video last night and gave me a little more backstory. They shipped it to Georgia in 2008 but didn’t get to move here until 2022 so it’s sat outside for a little while and then moved to his brother‘s basement. It was his wife’s bike. I asked him if they wanted it back, but unfortunately, she’s having health issues and can no longer ride.
terrible video man you skipped That little rubber going in and putting the Filters on in all kinds of stuff😂
Thanks! Still running great to this day.
good evening, my engine ran out of oil, because the oil filter was upside down and didn't get oil up with the consequence of sticking the piston and damaging the cylinder as well the head is very good, not damaged the good thing is that the engine did not stall while I was driving it I went to put it in front and the crank wouldn't go down is there a chance that if I put a new piston and cylinder the connecting rod will knock;; now there is no vacancy in the connecting rod Whats ur opinion;
Generally, the lack of lubrication due to the oil pump system causes more damage to the top end. The big end bearing usually gets dunked in the sump oil as it spins. Obviously, check for up-and-down play of the connecting rod and make sure that it rotates freely and you should probably be OK.
@restoroosterohv i have done the connecting rod up and down and there are no gaps, tommorow i am waiting for the new cylinder and piston with rings So i will put it and we will see...because someone told me when the engine gets compression the connecting rod will hit because it's left with oil
No, don’t worry about that. I would certainly be more concerned with the camshaft journals and cam caps in the head being melted.
@@restoroosterohv do u have instagram or fb to send you the photos of the head ;
All of my contact info is in the video description
I hope you save the old air filter, and put it on your spares shelf😁 happy Christmas 🎄
Too far gone, even for a frugal guy like me. Haha
Great video! Do you have a link to the dremel bit you used on the head? Thanks!
Thank you. a.co/d/dB9gxkS
@@restoroosterohv I can always count on you! Thanks for all you do, can't wait for the kx125 video!
Can always count on you too. KX in the works
Lol yes I also throw stupid crap like that lever in a box or on the shelf. Hardware especially. That is just a mechanic thing in my opinion. Keep them coming man. As usual we appreciate channels with actual correct info.
I know I will never use that lever again but I still do it anyways. Hardware is a different beast. I save every nut and bolt I pull from my parts engines and use them constantly. Thanks for your comment and support.
I use a thick piece of glass to resurface heads ! Great video!
Absolutely. A true flat surface is a must. Thanks for your comment and support.
Dude you are awesome I work on dirt bikes and restore them . I can pretty much do it all but fixing those cranks like you do I would love to learn how to do that. Love the videos friend! Happy holidays to you and your family.
Thank you for your kind words and support. I have a few videos on building jigs, replacing rods and trueing if you’d like to check them out. It’s not that difficult to do and very rewarding not to mention saving money and time. Happy holidays to you and yours as well.
@ I’ve watched them ,i really appreciate you sharing all ya knowledge. I’m going to practice some.
You’re welcome
That heat gun might help with the plastics
What are you referring to?
Using a heat gun on plastics can make them look new again if your careful
Oh yes, it can sometimes help with removing the white streaks and certainly for straightening bent plastics
Kx 08 250f just got in a trade its had a new top end valves shimmed and it only bump starts. Got it from some 16yr old kid so idek what's going on with it.
Who did the valve shimming? Unless it was you and you can verify it, recheck it
Motorcycle mechanic did the rebuild and the valves the bike@restoroosterohv
He said it might be those again but I don't understand how if the bike has just been rebuilt and has less than 10hrs on it
That’s where I would start for sure
If one would buy an old DRZ 400 (let's say from 2006) that has no apparent engine damage, would there be any drastic performance increase if he would rebuild the engine (that would justify it) ? Or it's just no worth it if the engine runs fine ?
There’s no need to do a rebuild if the compression is good and it’s not smoking or making any noise, however I would 100% recommend all the procedures in episode 82: ruclips.net/video/W96PFsX5LrQ/видео.htmlsi=q6EW36UqP7yRn6O0
You forgot to drain the tranny oil again...............
do the guides get punched out from the top or the bottom of the head?
Depends on the machine, some of them have stops. If they don’t have stops, you can push them either way.
What size is the oem nut.
I don't remember off the top of my head, I want to say M10x1.25 though
Your giving me hope on this pos ktm I bough the crank shaft is stripped on the stator side and idk what to do rn ima gonna try tho

Not a bad deal for the price.😊
Agreed
The only thing I didn't here you cover is the price. Excellent review tho
I don’t generally cover price because it could change from day-to-day. As of right now it’s like $105 plus a discount.
@restoroosterohv gotcha.....your right. Thanks. Seems to be a pretty good deal for the price. I have the cheap usb bore scope but it isn't very good.
@brainstain22 that’s the one I had to. The picture quality wasn’t super great, but the cord was a little stiffer, and it actually had a hook and magnet attachment for the end which was kind of cool.
i have a similar scope very high quality picture and the steerable camera is awesome. and the link is working just fine.
Huge fan of the steerable tip!
Love a good honest review!
Thank you
