is the german made corvette good for metal music?

I have to somewhat disagree as to the pedal's use with a bass. Yes, I bought it primarily because it's so cute and I love cats. I also didn't have this type of fuzz circuit for guitar. But being primarily a bass player, I had to try it and was surprised to find a couple of tones that were quite decent. They're pretty close to each other and really only vary by a slight boost in gain and corresponding drop in level: 4/2/10 or 4/3/8. Yeah, a blend control would've been amazing. Note that there is zero output when the gain is at minimum. The pedal is very sensitive to input level so even slightly dropping the volume on your instrument totally changes the nature of the beast. With my Jazz bass, I preferred the tone with just the bridge pickup on. Less mud going into the pedal seems to allow more bottom to come out. The new Fender Bassman Fuzz is terrific, by the way. It's supposedly based on the Fender Sublime which I also own. I don't think they sound that much alike but both are amazing.

This is a great video. I think a Jazz bass is extremely versatile and can work in any genre of music. Another thing to think about is installing a series/parallel switch to go from the traditional jazz bass sound in parallel to a much thicker, heavier tone in series. It can be as simple as replacing one of your volume or tone pots with a push/pull pot. As an added bonus, when you're in series, you'll only have a master volume and master tone, so if you find yourself hitting the neck pickup volume knob accidentally, you can make the bridge pickup knob the master volume and hitting the neck volume won't do anything at all in series mode.

In my youth I played a Warwick Fortress in metal band, and oh man, I played it HARD!!! Meaning string breaking strumming, plugin & slapping etc. and the tone was always on the good scale, never off. But when the frets started to wear down, and I wanted to move towards "professional gear" I sold my Warwick to buy a Fender AM Jazz Bass. I've played tons of live gigs and studio session with that jazz bass, but I still miss the "Warwick growl" of those passive MEC-pickups when digging hard.

so many comedic gems in this 🤣 Nice job getting a good sound out of that pedal anyway, despite it not being suited for bass. super interesting seeing what you had to do to make it work for another "Will it Bass" pedal, I've been intrigued by the Empress Effects Heavy Menace. It's marketed for guitar, but it has a weight control for adjusting low end, which makes me so curious if it would work with bass. I'd love to see what you can do with it, your tones are always excellent

If I am correct, Paul got a "nasty" clean tone because he was using .110 for Drop B and A so....loose string + fret noise and buzz

I've tried to play this similar to the riffs in their guitar tablature book, but it's hard to hear everything without an isolated track. It was interesting to see this version's tabs with some unexpected rhythms compared to what I'm used to.
