In spite of the bass deficit and the missing dry blend, I really had fun trying out this Hello Kitty Fuzz! If you'd like to have the tones in your arsenal as well, check out the Kitten Pedal Tone Pack profiles for the Neural Amp Modeller on my Ko-Fi: ko-fi.com/paajanenae
so many comedic gems in this 🤣 Nice job getting a good sound out of that pedal anyway, despite it not being suited for bass. super interesting seeing what you had to do to make it work for another "Will it Bass" pedal, I've been intrigued by the Empress Effects Heavy Menace. It's marketed for guitar, but it has a weight control for adjusting low end, which makes me so curious if it would work with bass. I'd love to see what you can do with it, your tones are always excellent
Thank you! I took a quick look at the Heavy Menace and I believe it might be a tough one to make work on bass. Usually high gain effects for guitar tend to focus on frequencies that don't make much sense in a bass context. That bass control will be incredibly useful when used with guitar, but with bass it would most probably need a whole another signal chain for the low end and low middles :)
If you’re into fuzz, nothing beats the Big Muff if you ask me .. . For video ideas, am curious if you would consider that Luminal Booster DG recently came up with on being able to replace your PD7-P&P set-up or not
I'm actually not that into fuzzes, but I have actually never tried a Big Muff on bass. Perhaps I should. I have the Luminal Booster on my desk currently and I'm trying to figure out what kind of video to do about it. It didn't replace my PD7, but I have a hunch that perhaps the new Ibanez PTEQ might. We'll see!
@@Paajanenae OP is so right. I've had some fuzzes to test and Big Muff is always the one and you can make it work in lot's of ways (pre-input/post-output twists, full stack or no cab (just eq/lo-hi cuts) etc.)
@@Paajanenae Bass Big Muff (same as classic big muff, but there's a 50/50 blend switch, 'normal' as a classic big muff and bass boost that I didn't find useful). Russian Big Muff has a more mid-push and Darkglass ADAM's fuzz is based on it. I prefer bass big muff because of mixing ability with other pedals by dry/wet switch
@lari4707 The tone pack is just 4€ 😅 I understand that's a lot in some currencies but it's honestly the least I could charge for it. I'm extremely open about all my gear and how I use it to achieve my sounds so I believe that getting access to something meticulously handcrafted by me shouldn't be free. Everything else I do already is.
@@Paajanenae Oh for sure, brother! Dedicating oneself to a craft and putting endless of hours or work into it and kindly sharing that for everyone to use should definitely not be free. I was just inquiring if the tone pack is available for NAM users somewhere? I'd be more than happy to pay 4 bucks and even more if it is :)
I have to somewhat disagree as to the pedal's use with a bass. Yes, I bought it primarily because it's so cute and I love cats. I also didn't have this type of fuzz circuit for guitar. But being primarily a bass player, I had to try it and was surprised to find a couple of tones that were quite decent. They're pretty close to each other and really only vary by a slight boost in gain and corresponding drop in level: 4/2/10 or 4/3/8. Yeah, a blend control would've been amazing. Note that there is zero output when the gain is at minimum. The pedal is very sensitive to input level so even slightly dropping the volume on your instrument totally changes the nature of the beast. With my Jazz bass, I preferred the tone with just the bridge pickup on. Less mud going into the pedal seems to allow more bottom to come out. The new Fender Bassman Fuzz is terrific, by the way. It's supposedly based on the Fender Sublime which I also own. I don't think they sound that much alike but both are amazing.
Yeah you can make it sound quite decent for sure and it can handle itself with bass but I think that the low frequency loss is what damns this pedal even on low gain settings 😄 For studio use it's a really fun tool to have but I wouldn't put it on a pedalboard. I'll need to do a video on the new Bassman effects at some point soon, they look really interesting!

Dude smiles, looks chill as hell, grabs a blue PJ with stickers on it, plugs into a pink pedal, and plays cool metal riffs, love that
That's how we roll 🤝💜
The riff was fun, subscribed
Love it! I'm excited to get my own Hello Kitty Fuzz!
Hope you can still find one, they were pretty much instantly sold out where I live 😂

@Paajanenae aaah that's too bad. Thanks for your thoughts on it! And now I'm extra glad i didn't give in to those temptations then 😅
