Flight time has nothing to do with the size of the plane. I fly the CRJ for a 121 carrier and I’m faster than almost all the narrow bodies. MMO on a 321 is .81 and MMO on the CRJ is .85. Winds aloft have everything to do with flight time.

Another awesome trip report. I have always enjoyed riding the 767-400. It has a 'big' widebody ride and a great interior.

There are one or two other travel critics besides yourself who offer no audio with their reviews. You cannot do a comprehensive review without vocal accompaniment explaining what and how this trip differers from others, food taste & quality, seat review, legroom comments...it goes on and on. Do your job for goodness sakes.

Cool video! I flew WYS-SLC and back a few weeks ago and what a fun experience it was! That old terminal is such a time capsule and the "bag claim" on the curb was so unique. I will say though, my flight out was on a fully loaded CRJ-900 and it's all the airport could do to handle 80 or so people and their luggage. So while the current terminal is a fun throwback, it is nice to see this small community getting a brand new facility that will be much better suited to handle the modern traffic demand. Thanks for sharing your experience. It looks like you enjoyed it as much as I did!

How full was the flight? Given how many competing flights and airlines there are.

I seriously had ZERO idea that united flew CRJ-200/100s into Devils fucking Lake of all places., that town is so backwater its barely on the map, how!

Flew there few times in a Boeing 727 from Denver we did some fly fishing trips in the 1980's was really fun as a teenager. We would take a bus up to LAX in southern California then lay over in Denver fly into West Yellowstone. The terminal looks the same as it did back then we used a rolling ladder. There wasn't any security just person taking the ticket as you went back up the stairs.

Those are Dash 8-200's. Dash 7 has four engines and is a STOL aircraft.

The ground controller in HNL was very difficult to understand. I see why the pilot asked him to repeat the taxiing instructions.

Flew this plane out of Detroit a couple years ago ago according to my logbook. Sad to watch the 200 go.

Thanks--made me confirm my seat choices for a trip in September... wasn't sure how row 20 and Delta One ahead of it was divided... passing on the bulkhead seats (don't mind if someone ahead of is reclined--it brings the IFE closer to my old eyes!). Interesting that for September, they only show three 2x2x2 rows in that class when selecting seats, not three plus an extra middle 2... as the odd one out between my wife, daughter, and I, I get the seat in the middle section, so we played it safe with Row 21--no bulkhead fore or aft to worry about... I'm guessing that his was a mid-week flight given the number of empty seats... It looks like Delta is eliminating them as our original Tuesday fight (626) was just converted to a connection via ATL but we were able to move to the same non-stop flight on Monday (bonus day in Hawaii!) and kept the same seats...

That looked like a smooth touchdown for sure!

Great you got there! The delays and flight cancellations in Greenland can be major. I had a 7 hrs wait at Kangerlussauq for the 35min Ilulissat flight last week!

I didn't see any Cayuga Lake below the plane. Did you fly south of Ithaca and loop around to the airport on the north side of town? It looks like you may have approached the landing coming from the southeast. I lived in Ithaca for 16 years and now I live in SE Michigan.

That was interesting and fun! I’ve flown out to Hawaii (all four main islands) four times over the years, but always on Hawaiian Airlines. Of course, as a lifelong New Yorker, I’ve been on Delta countless times. One of my old friends is an HA captain and, after trying many times to coordinate our schedules, we finally hit the jackpot and he flew us (me and my adult children) home. I actually asked him, in my worst NY accent, “are ya sure ya know howda get there?”

This is a journey I have been on many times throughout the years, going back and forth between Denmark and Greenland, but I have yet to try this new aircraft. Beautifully filmed. Well done. It brought back a lot of memories. Thank you posting it.😊👍

Kangerslussuaq, Maniitsoq and Nuuk are not north of the Polar Circle

I was on this flight from Nuuk to Reykjavik in September 2015 for a one weeks vacation in Iceland. We flew direct without a fuel stop. Probably because we had headwinds all the way. It was a pleasant and uneventful flight. A week later I flew back, but this time the plane landed in Kulusuk on the East Coast of Greenland for refueling. We were there for about an hour. That was okay with me as I hadn’t been to the East Coast before. The weather was gorgeous, but chilly. The East Coast is known for having a much harsher climate than the West Coast -especially in the South Western region of Greenland of which Nuuk is the top end. Nuuk is the capital of Greenland. Population (2024) 20,000. Total population of Greenland is 56,000. Greenland is in fact only slightly bigger than Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom together. Similarly, Greenland is also roughly the size of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The ice free coastal area where everyone lives is roughly the size of Sweden.

It doesn’t snow in Nuuk most of the year. Mostly the snow is on the ground from October to April. This year we’ve had so little snow that skiers and snowmobiles have been moaning and groaning. It’s May now and all the snow is gone in the city, but there is still snow in places on the mountains. The DASH seven and later the DASH 8 have been the right planes for Greenland. They revolutionized our air travel from slow helicopters with limited capacity to easier access around the country. The Sikorsky S-61N helicopter had room for about 20 passengers and would take 2 and a half hours to get to Kangerlussuaq with a stop in Maniitsoq for refueling. The DASH 7 used about an hour, a direct flight with 45 passengers. The DASH 8 is faster, 45 minutes, uses less fuel but can only carry app. 38 passengers. When the new runway opens in November 2024 we will have direct service by jet from Nuuk to places like Copenhagen, Reykjavik and other destinations. It will revolutionize our air travel in the same way the DASH did. Easier access, better prices and larger air cargo capacity.

Great video! As a Minneapolis resident, featuring MSP made me quite happy. I've been on this service from KEF-MSP in the past. Our departure was delayed by a little more than an hour due to high winds, which made for quite a bumpy climb out.

Although BOS HNL is a 763 which is HORRIBLE

A Redtail Air trip report would be awesome! You would need to fly them to Vernal to do a same-day out and back from SLC.
