Interesting watching you do this. I have given the gearbox a clean on mine, I am about to yank the engine out to sort all the leaks out ... and I was going to do the same with the loom. I even asked Mini if they were assembled them by mounting the gearbox to the engine then adding the loom like you did. It's how I plan to do mine as some of the cables were not routed correctly. If someone else has done things the way I was thinking to do them, it can't be a stupid idea :D I am trying to do the RUclips videos at the smae time

why not crack some windows on the flood car to help get fresher air in, or some funk out? how much rust was actually in/on the car? did you pull the carpet to check the floor pan? to me, it looks like you left the carpet in and didn't look. Did you treat any surface rust, like in the battery box, to prevent the rust from getting worse?

Not sure if it is the same, but in the USA the power steering system has a recall. Got my pump and fan replaced for free last month on 2003 R53 S.

Iv subbed keep this caddy stuff up Iv got a golf gt 56 plate not even 60k miles needs new crank and crank bearings it dose all start up and stuff but loss of power and the boost cage don't work Iv never work on a car befor I'm more of a bike guy but it was my moms car and I'd love to be able to put it back in the road to how it was when she first had

I usually did this with VCDS, then unplug and use the bignasty pliers (sometimes big nasty flathead) and push it in, sometimes I did it manually on the passat's by doing the pedal, switch, switch procedure, and then using the pliers or flathead to push it back in, It's been pretty rare that I used the specific rewind tool for it. (including Benz, Hyundai/Kia). Suppose I've installed those pads wrong for years! :) (Then again, I was a Benz / Ford and Peugeot/Ford Diesel specialist)

You can use a heat gun or a blowlamp on the bumpers. It will restore the original finish. If the wipe doesn't work❤😁

We need more people with your attitude. Good for you i hope you get it on the road and take it to shows and enjoy it. People like to knock BL cars but i like them. In most respects they were ahead of their time who else had front wheel drive back then. My local BL dealer sent a marina and a mini to Osselli engineering to have them made into rally cars on a special deal. I was told they were very fast cars when they came back. ❤😁

Reminds me of a little £250 Metro I brought to get me to and from work when didn't have very much money back in the late 90s, it had a questionable floor and was never going to pass another MOT but never let me down for about 8 months. This and a little VW Polo (both this same colour red) kept me in employment for about three years while I saved like mad for a house deposit, tough fun little cars.

Looking good keep going you should get yourself a nice van in the end. I would take all the nice bits out of the Touran and fit in the caddy you would be a fool not to.

A horrible, horrible car. My mum had one. It ended its life when I slowly and gracefully slid it into a ditch on a snowy downhill corner. Oops. Parents not best pleased, but good riddance.

Love it. Looks well, have one myself. I've heard that taking a heat gun to the bumpers restores them to black like new. Not sure that solution made much difference for you, did it hold up?

So lucky you're in the UK my man lol getting parts in the US is getting difficult especially with every parts salvage shop charging absolutely insane prices for mini parts even the guys who specialize in mini Cooper. Just going to lead to them being rarely seen on the street

Touran seat have the under trays don’t they? More storage for coffee grounds? Either seats you choose worth thinking about keeping the trays
