How to File for Divorce in 7 Esay Steps
1. Decide which county to file in, usually the one you live in. You can file in any county (if you are both in agreement), which can be convenient as some counties are harder to file in than others. Though filing where you live is usually better as it’s conveniently close by.
2. Get the divorce forms (for free) from courts.wa.gov or WashingtonLawHelp.org if you want to file without an attorney. However, you can hire an attorney to handle gathering all the needed documents.
3. Fill out the essential documents like the petition and summons as well as a Case cover Sheet and a Confidential Information Form. Include additional documents if necessary, such as a proposed parenting plan and child...

Should you choose Mediation or trial for your divorce?
Thank you
I am looking for someone to interview on my RUclips channel live about what to do with a home during divorce. Any chance you may be interested?
Will the judge sign off on an uncontested divorce if my soon to be ex-wife gets significantly less than half of the assets? I am in Georgia and she committed adultery which automatically makes her ineligible to get alimony. I can get her on her own will to accept about 20% of the money in my accounts. We have a daughter and are going to do 50/50 split custody. Also my house is in my father's name with my name secondary. And most of the money in my account is a recent inheritance from my grandfather's passing so she also can't touch that. We have never combined out money. We do have a joint account with only a couple thousand dollars in it but it was always used as my account. I moved all of the money out of that account a few years ago into an account with just my name on it. She contributed very little monetarily to the household the whole marriage even though she makes about 75% of what I make. The only thing she ever paid for was groceries, toiletries, and cloths and small items for my daughter, but yet she is somehow always broke. She is terrible with money and I don't want to see what I worked for years to build just wasted. I will always give her any money she needs to make sure that my daughter has the best life possible, but frankly she never contributed enough to the household to deserve half. And she knows it which is why she will agree to a smaller amount. I really don't want to go the contested at-fault route and waste a bunch of money on lawyers. If needed can we do uncontested at-fault divorce in Georgia? I can't seem to find any information about that online. Sorry for the long post. Just feeling a lot of emotions right now. I am personally not even bothered with it, but I am absolutely devastated for my daughter. I can't understand how someone could do that when they have such a precious life at home. It honestly feels like true evil to me. She is still living here right now and begging me to go to counseling to try to fix it, but that is only because she got caught and knows her life is about to be much worse. I just want what is best for my daughter and I don't think it would be good for her to see me look at her mother with hatred everyday. I will never be able to see her the same.
As someone who has been down that road (2nd cousin to Lord Russell Nelson), I could go into the Church's history on divorce (high rates since the mid 1800s), their counseling (invariably detrimental), and so forth. But the short of it is, just get out of both. Divorce is especially grueling for male members, non supportive, and disillusioning. Men will not just lose their property and income, but likely to encounter alienated children, and financial desperation to the point of "checking out." Get out soonest and quickest of both, don't look back, and start over as best you can. The Church is actually part of the problem as there is no sympathy nor understanding of life with an intractable, relationally abusive wife, possessing the gamut of female irresponsibility. In the 33 years since I did, I've not read or heard of ONE who did so regret the decision. A Mormon divorce is nothing but damage control.
I havent lived with my wife in 8 years we lived in 2 different states for 8 years. I filed for divorced and served her. Now she wants alimony
I am going to my first divorce hearing and I have no lawyer but we both agreeing on everything the only thing I am worry about is possible missing paperwork. I have the final decree paperwork filled out so I don’t know what else I need? Any advised will be appreciated thank you 🙏
Many courts in Washington have facilitators to help people representing themselves make sure they have all the documents. They won't tell you what should be in the documents (or if the agreement is a good idea) but they will help make sure you have everything
My attorney charged me for a contested divorce even though I agreed to everything. Was I cheated?
Probably not. If you hire someone, that usually means that you pay them. In Washington there isn't a separate category for a contested and uncontested divorce. In some other states there is. And if you come to an attorney with everything agreed to, that is usually what we mean in Washington by uncontested (because instead of contesting you are agreeing). When you hire an attorney, you are paying for their advice and time. Even if you come to an attorney with an agreement, it still takes time to review the agreement, advise you on the agreement, prepare the documents that will allow the agreement to go forward, and then present everything to the court.
Most women in divorce want everything. They dont usually agree to settle. They expect the hoyse, land, alimony, child support and 1/2 of all savings.
Alimony shouldn't exist
So what if we went to mediation once already? We couldn’t agree to a parenting plan. I want equal shared or close as possible to 50/50, and she wants to only share weekends. She won’t budge. Will the judge possibly make us go back to mediation, or trial at that point?
This depends on whether it is possible to reach an agreement. Very few judges would require a second attempt at mediation if neither of you is willing to back off your positions. Talk to an attorney to work through options and what makes sense for you situation
While the purpose of these rules is fairness, isn't there a gray area where a judge can choose their preferred party?
He encourage me to file for divorce ,but in the meantime he went secretly to a laywer to find out about his rights ,and after that the humiliation and mental abuse started getting more.
I'm sorry to hear that. Some people just can't be trusted

How do I petition out of the most corrupt county in the state? Since my mom has a criminal law practicing lawyer who is now a commissioner
As a mother dealing with a custodial case where abuse of power, conspiracy to defraud thru organized crime, and no. Protection of child whiteness due to CRIMINAL negligence, I'm beginning to wonder if there are any decent judges let alone lawyers. I need help since greed overshadows resiliency which is the ability to completely recover from trauma

Can our 14 year old grandson choose to come live with us. Our son has sole custody at this point. Mom is not involved in his life.
Not in pierce county. The judges here are biased and full of shit!
What if you take care of your kid and it’s in a lovely home filled with love but you just got 2 bully parents that wanna get them when they wanna get them then what
Move away stop talking to abusers.
News flash. I don’t think people ever really get this. No one ever lives the same lifestyle after a divorce. Why are we so worried about that? If both spouses work and one has not put forth the effort into their career, why should they be entitled to maintain their lifestyle lol divorce is made for the court system and lawyers to make money. Period. 😊
Suppose the wife was the higher earner and after birthing their child, the husband became the full time carer for the child. The wife was able to keep a high earning career for say, six years, while the husband raised the child at home and dropped out of school to do so. Now in the process of divorce, the SAH father still does not have a high paying job and no longer a roof over his head. You truly believe the stay at home father should not be compensated for his time and sacrifices he made to support his family and raise his children? Just trying to clarify your statements.
@@jordanhancock279 I believe that compensation should be granted in the form of child support, since he is the kinda primary care giver, he is entitled to money to continue being that. Now. If there is some kind of 50/50 split in custody, he is fully capable of going on his own to find the career to fill in the gaps of his expenses after child support.
I just want a divorce. He is a veteran I don’t want anything of his. And legally I can’t have his disability from the marines . Idc I’m a bartender I just wanna leave the marriage with what I came with . Nothing lol
Youre odd because mine wants everything, including my disability payments @@gonikkigo4846

Is it OK for me to leave the house? Well I still get some of the property in the divorce or should I stay in the house with him?
@@renatahill9794 that’s a great question. Property rights in a divorce do not depend on who is living in the property during a divorce. But there may be other reasons you would want to stay in the house; who gets to use a house during the divorce is a question to discuss with an attorney at length

I want to know whether the court issues a divorce order document in case of an uncontested desk order divorce in British Columbia, Canada.
Sorry we do not know Canadian law or how a British Columbia court would work. We are located in Washington state
I suppose this was all done in one take. No editor used 12:30.
What if the antenaptual contract was not signed in the presence of a notary public? What if my husband and the notary public had a long standing relationship, and therefore discussed and drafted the ANC without my input or presence. I was only aware of the document when it was given to me to sign... How valid is this contract?
Please explain if both self business owners and work from home, 50-50 income, does one need to pay alimony to the other if one starts another business or continue the same business in a different location making more money than the other? This is a 30 year old marriage. The house which is the base of business needs to be sold and divided.
In Washington State spousal support (also call maintenance and known in other states as alimony), is based on the need of the party asking and the ability to pay of the party paying. If both parties are able to self support equally, there is likely not going to be spousal support. This is a rule create based on the idea that in a marriage one spouse typically earns a majority of the income and the other typically stays at home and manages household affairs (raising children, cooking, cleaning, maintenance, etc.). They both support the family in equal, but different ways. Alimony was designed to compensate the spouse who would have less of an income generating role for the family. When both spouses have the same income generating ability, alimony makes less sense.
This is a rule create based on the idea that in a marriage one spouse typically earns a majority of the income and the other typically stays at home and manages household affairs (raising children, cooking, cleaning, maintenance, etc.). They both support the family in equal, but different ways. ---- LOL that’s the theory. In reality I want a divorce because my stay at home wife is a lazy bum. She doesn’t cook, doesn’t clean, sleeps a lot. Do the courts look that?
It would be nice if the court would take into consideration how people manage their money. I work with a guy who pays 1,600.00 a month child support. She claims the kids on her taxes and blows the money on tattoos. Then ask him for more money.kudos to him for telling her to grow up,stop wasting the money on tattoos and other stupid shit. Seems like the guy always gets screwed. I only know 2 men that came out on top in a divorce.
No. To the extent the law disagrees it is wrong and should be defied.

What happen if your part will not marry you if you don’t sign the agreement is that valid
Then you should not marry that person and be grateful that you found out who they really were before the weding
Shame he completely messed up the retirement part. You could tell he was unsure and didn't know it that well. That was something I was looking forward to hearing and learning more about.
Retirement accounts are often community property, but couples will give them up without knowing that because they are in one spouse's name. And even if they do think to divide it, retirement accounts are highly regulated and there are tax implications. If the right steps are not followed to divide the retirement accounts, taxes can hit immediately or the retirement account may not be divided and this won't be discovered until years and years have gone by.
Not if there is no relationship.
Lol why would grandparents think they have these rights🤷🤷
If the kid is raised in an abusive home, there's that
So many reasons.

So the male works his ass off fir 25 yrs while the female spouse goes to casinos, plays bingo and blows cash .... and at the end he's supposed to support that. Bull crap
In most cases the winen dobt work. They just receive alimony from hardworking men. While those hardheaded or stone hearted women enjoying lives & flirting with other men, while their X husbands work hard to fulfill the needs.
Absolute divorce is better when both parties agree with each others and keep the attorneys away.
If you can agree and get along, you can avoid a lot of problems. You can even avoid divorce if you agree. Don't know what you mean by "absolute" divorce, but couldn't agree more. A big problem people have that we've seen is one spouse thinks there's an agreement, when in reality that spouse just bullied their way to get what they want yet again (fundamental cause of the divorce, too).
Question: In ABSOLUTE DIVORCE when the children are over 18 and there's no custody fight or assets at all. Does it matter who files first any spouse?
No idea what you mean by "absolute" divorce. That's not a term I've ever come across. But if you have nothing to lose or gain either way, there isn't a lot that matters. So it really depends on how quickly you want thins to happen.
@@pacificnorthwestfamilylaw9061 I have documents that say Absolute divorce. The court clerk also told me that you need Absolute divorce forms. It's voluntarily divorce. Uncontested. We're not wealth or rich couples to fight over materials. When i contacted the court clerk, she said there will be Zoom call no necessary to come to the court. (Maryland)
My 2 grandkids live in abuse.in basement mostly alobe

maybe, i would go to the police, CPS and get a family law attorney. But be very careful, grandparents rights or even grandparents gaining custody is very difficult.
