What is a LLLT? Hi, I'm Zachary C. Ashby at Pacific Northwest Family Law and wanted to answer a question that, is out and about. What is a LLLT?
This is a specific license granted in Washington State for people to practice law in a limited capacity. LLLT stands for Limited Licensed Legal Technician. LLLT can be an alternative to full representation by an attorney and still receive legal advice.
So, at our firm, we employ a LLLT of our Yakima office to help with clients who don't necessarily need full representation.
She can help them. fill out documents. She can help them answer discovery. She can help them prepare for hearings. She can help them essentially do their entire case. And if she ever needs help, she can always call an attorney who can come in and give advice for a more full-representation scenario.
So that she has backup of a full legal team which is one of the benefits of hiring Pacific Northwest Family Law. we have attorneys throughout Washington State who can help people in their family law matter.  And so, our LLLT, her name is Karina Gomez is able to help people who might not otherwise need an attorney. So, it's good for situations where you've got limited assets that you've already agreed on a parenting plan that you don't have a complicated financial history. And she doesn't have to go through accounting records.
But LLLT would be a bad choice if you have high assets such as a business, or lots of equity in a house, or stock options, or things of that nature, probably would be a better idea to get full representation. If there's issues of domestic violence, if you're living together before the marriage or you anticipate a custody dispute or some kind of high conflict asset that you need more rigorous advice and full representation.
We help all our clients to determine the level of representation they need. So that they can get the right level of care them and it's tailored that way. That's why we have attorneys throughout Washington State so that we can help clients with their unique needs in each case.
