I am an esthetician and I have always been very much interested in studying #Dermatology #CosmeticSurgery etc. I never had the chance or the time to do it due to family obligations and keeping a roof over my head. Now, watching this video I may consider actually going to school for it. #Thankyou
This video is wonderful. I'm not a medical student, but I am an African American Esthetician and CNA. So this is fascinating. So inspiring to see Dr. Clay and hear her experience as a Dermatologist.
Surprised by the salary she mentioned. Glad that my medical interests in immunology and infectious diseases has a place in this field. It seems like such a good fit for me. And to help people with their appearance. The face is what the world sees and the impact on one’s self esteem is monumental. People don’t think of it enough when they don’t have those medical issues.
Pedestrian? I see those suckers on the street all the time! Its easy to become a pedestrian, just go on the road or public place. Easiest specialty their is.
This makes me nervous...so nervous. Thanks to this woman and your interview, i am able to take everything hand in hand and figure out what to do.. im 21, im not in college yet but i want to ve in dermatology after i graduate from ged. :)
@@angelicaanneu.tabadero2388 nah, only a medical doctor degree will let you into a dermatologist college. That would be your MD, MBBS, or other variants depending on your country. A biology course will get you a science-related job, and you can research skin or skin diseases if you choose, but you won't be able to specialise and practice dermatology in a clinical setting
@@afarensis9720 so does that mean after I finish my Bs in biology I need to take Doctor degree after that i need to go to a med school before I can be a dermatologist Am I right?
I know a friend's son that is about to complete his dermatology residency and is expected to make 700k a year. I believe they said that he would have to move to an area that is in high demand for dermatologists but isnt this salary still very uncommon?

Hi, That's a good question. I actually sat on the admissions board at Georgetown while in med school and learned a quite bit about applying, etc. Lately, most med schools have started to like students with non bio/non chem degrees. But, major in something that you enjoy learning about. If it's not bio or chem, then do the pre-reqs additionally. If you want to major in music, then do that. And then just do the pre-reqs for med school. That will be perfectly fine and may actually make you stand out from the majority who have a biology or chemistry degree. If I had to recommend a degree to a pre medical student, it would be to pick a major that after you graduate (and while applying to medical school) that you can make some income. Examples include: nursing degree, tech jobs associated with a degree, computer degrees, etc. I hope this helps and good luck! Antonio J. Webb, M.D. do you know anything about becoming a holistic dermatologist? I previously went to school for Sociology. Although, I am still interested in Counseling, I am also interested in hair skin and nails being that I’ve had my own share of these issues and would really like to help nurture people back to health. Any advice?
I've heard that dermatology pay is going to go way down when it becomes less profitable to churn out huge number of patients while doing quick, expensive procedures
Where did you hear this? With cosmetic procedures becoming more popular then I'm not sure there is truth to this. The beauty industry is still booming.
What do you mean by extra year of medical school? Does this mean that many dermatology hopefuls take a year off of medical school to do research and then are able to come back to med school to finish? Does this usually happen after the 2nd or 3rd year?
Hi, you asked about Psychiatry a while back, check out this video here with Dr. Dion Metzger, a board certified Psychiatrist. ruclips.net/video/SulWi7Ka64I/видео.html
I love that you feature physicians of color. So inspiring.
Andrew Hunter yes but he never married a women of color soooo🥺🤷🏾♀️
Imperfection_Beauty21 shutcho dum ass up
Imperfection_Beauty21 why does that matter??
Imperfection_Beauty21, color doesn’t matter when finding the person you love.
It’s kinda racist
This was the best video on dermatology I was able to find on RUclips. Thank you for the advice.

What course should I take in college when I want to be a dermatologist? Should I go with Doctor of Medicine or Medical Biology?
@George Sander I don't think that kid knows anything about the medical field lol
Dermatologist specialisation requires an MD, Medical Biology won't get you any closer to your dream

Does anyone know how to become a holistic dermatologist?
Wait you are telling me, that there are doctors out being paid commission with their medical degree student loans???
God i hope not. Im slightly interested in dermatology but not if it's commission. Some states do pay salary i hear but i guess it varies
interview a Psychiatrist please??

Based off of commission..? 😢 Tell me exactly what she means by this - this is ridiculous.
She said 250k ?? Maybe that’s women’s pay no offense but I haven’t heard of 250k I always heard 400k plus (from men)
It depends on several other factors like location and how much they work. I mean she works 40 hours a week which is pretty low for a doctor.
Do you Know any Muslim doctors
Should you only be a doctor if you don't want to do anything else
