RIP to the pilot. Not much room for error if you have to land in an emergency, seems heavy wooded area?
Yea right, best aroplane of ww1, now show the sopwith camel, fly circles around a foker
Absolutely awesome video thank you so much for sharing 😊 love seeing a realistic interpretation 😊
I want to be a pilot when I grow up. I’m 45
Robert Mason, in his superb book “Chickenhawk”, tells how, from day 1 on learning to fly helicopters (ultimately in the Vietnam War), he was taught to anticipate engine failure and always have an emergency landing area in mind. In a sea of trees, options seem limited.
Pilot made the landings look easy but the runway dimensions didn’t look over-generous to me, among all those trees.
Funny looking OX-5
Epic.
They started by saluting ea other, then throwing bricks at ea other, then guns, the I 1st machine guns were on the foker eindecker and the bullets were prevented from cutting of the prop with steel plates, then synchronized to the shaft of the engine,
NIce !
In ww1 if you fight against these planes the game is over, that is why they named it Fokker.
@3:19 I was like "I wouldn't mind if you pull the elevator", very nice plane.
A flying dream
That answer by the young lady is incomplete. She probably doesn't know the rest.
Amazing footage, thank you! Plus those thrilling landings, well done.
3:05 carajo, el cagaso q debe ser ver eso atras tuyo en la ww1
So cool!
Wow . . . how evocative was that. Having read so much about these aircraft, seeing a pilot-eye view is stunning. Thanks.
If heaven exists, this is it.
Are you playing on low graphics?
That fokker seems to turn tight with ease. No wonder they were so good when they first came out of the factory.
Excellent video!👍🏻🎅👍🏻
Outstanding video! 👍🏻🎅👍🏻
3:06 Imagine being a WWI pilot and seeing this. I would poop my pants.
Unbelievable! Just how the textile fabric covering of the wings "works" in the airstream... Nice!👍
Didn't the Pup have any cowl mounted machine guns?
No machine gun fire😊
Amazing video to understand how it really was to fly with these machines. Thanks a lot!
I flew as a passenger in a biplane at that field some years ago. Greatest flying experience ever! The early Autumn trees and Hudson River views are awesome. I did, however have a bit of an uncomfortable feeling as we came in on final and threaded through the trees to line up on the runway!!! RIP to a great pilot and engineer.
Man war thunder got an update in graphics
It is amazing how realistic flight sim is these days, and it is almost free too.
Very cool
I'll start by saying that this was a fantastic video of two beautiful planes, and the fist shaking was a funny moment. However, I waited for the entire video to see when the "dogfight" would start...and it never did. Seeing as how this video is two years old by my time of viewing, it would be pretty useless to change the title at this point, but I will say, it seems a bit disrespectful to the men who died in flaming heaps sitting in the cockpits of those exact models of war machines to do a few lazy laps around the airfield you both took off from and call it a "dogfight." I would have been satisfied if the Fokker pilot at least feigned a gun jam to excuse the lack of *actual* blank munitions (I am not a pilot, but I expect it's not particularly hard to put a blank firing gun on your plane as they are not considered firearms under U.S. law, but I could be wrong, and maybe there are more strict guidelines to follow from the FAA even when considering prop guns), or had the pilots pointed prop sidearms at each other and feigned shooting at one another that too would have been acceptable as a "dogfight." I'm glad ya'll had fun, though. It did look like a good time. 👍
HIGHER! THE KING OF THE SKY! HE'S FLYING TOO FAST AND HE'S FLYING TOO HIGH! HIGHER! AN EYE FOR AN EYE! THE LEGEND WILL NEVER DIE!
Lucky bastard! I would love to fly the Dr.I, it seems so light and nimble!
I can’t imagine the sheer brass balls those pilots needed back in the day Them and tanker crews Risking their entire existence on often untested and new techniques n technologies Driven both deep into the mud and far above it Trusting nothing but yourself Your machine And whoever the hell else was riding with you The absolute mad lads May their immortal souls rest forevermore
R.I.P. Fokker DVIII pilot and restorer very sad you thrilled and inspired thousands 😿😿
Both of these planes are recreations. The only original SPAD is in Tillamook Oregon and grounded.
The Fokker DVIII was tricky to fly, even in WWI. It had a fat wing center section and there wasn't much dihedral in the parasol wing. There wasn't a throttle on the DVIII rotary engine. It ran at full throttle all the time and the pilot had to bleep the magneto ignition to land it. 🥸
Thanks! I didn't knew that...😉
Man! Thanks for sharing this!
I'm so glad I got the chance to see him fly back in 2022, and to speak with him briefly. RIP, Brian.
Curse you, Red Baron!!!
Man, what a view and feeling that must be. Sure the pilots during the war had to have plenty of thick clothes to avoid freezing but aside from that must have been quite the experience.
3:17 I know what were you thinking about xD Nah just kidding, this is pure history in the air! Glad to see it like this, thank you for this amazing video!
Rip the DVIII
On eternal Dawn Patrol. Rest in peace, Brian C., and thank you.
Rest In Peace Brian ❤️❤️
Respect to Brian C 😢
Rest in Peace
It’s still mind boggling to me that, only a few years prior, flight had been introduced. In less than a decade we went from the first planes to then using said planes for war. It’s absolutely wild.
20 years later was the start of WWII, then 10 years after that we had jet fighters. 25 years after _that,_ and we've landed on the moon. 44 years from the first flight in 1903 to breaking the sound barrier in 1947. The B-52 has been in active service with the US military for longer than it took to go from a paper kite with a person on it to landing on the moon.
