I have a modified mutiny, a custom-made leuku, and for Christmas I received a hotspur. All came with kydex and they're all fantastic.
Quite a range of knives from us! Great to hear that the kydex works well on all of the different shapes and sizes
Its big enough to use as a spatula to turn steak on the grill.
just about! not so kind on non stick pans as a spatula though haha
🗡👍👍👍👍OK 🆗
🗡👍👍👍OK 🆗
I love how even though it’s clearly made for chopping, it has a good point on it with that upsweep. When I get around to ordering this one I think I might want a wave 🌊 pattern etched into the side in a minimalist style like your logo. Cheers.
We should be able to help you out with custom engraving no problem :)
These are seriously the raddest sheaths I’ve ever seen or held. You can tell they’re really thinking of how they’ll feel in USE. Cheers.
👍
That’s gorgeous. It’s also reminding me you guys make the knout- I wanna take both of them camping.
One knife for big jobs and one for very very big jobs haha
I’m sitting in my house grinning like an idiot 😂 That’s absolutely beautiful
Cheers! It's quite a handsome blade :)
I don't have any situation where I can use this short sword. But now I want one.
The thing about swords is that once you have one you tend to find excuses to use them lol
I just hit up my friend and excellent blacksmith to make me a xiphos & Kopis. 😂 I saw one of his posts and just said take my money lol. I will be buying more swords soon. I collect real weapons. Got guns, blowguns, knives, and now some swords otw
I like the red scales. Looks cool. I can't wait for mine :)
Thanks! These are orange actually. I tihnk you'll love it once it's in hand. Got so many coming through the workshop right now!
yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh. i love my bhura and this looks just as awesome.
Glad you're loving your bhura :) Both great knives that's for sure.
What would you guys recommend with a 3.5 inch blade?
At that length we have the bhura and the cursive :) The bhura is more of a puukko style small outdoors and bushcrafty knife while the cursive is more of a compact fixed blade edc.
That looks like you could trust it with your life ❤
100%
Very cool to see. I have been loving my new pensioner with a kydex sheath.
Glad you're liking your kydex! The cool factor is hard to beat on them, especially with a knife like a pensioner inside it :)
Beautiful craftsmanship! And great filming too! I love my HSI and I'm thinking of buying a second one with a kydex sheath for a long time. Shoutout to Mr. Bikram!
Cheers! Great to hear you're loving your HSI too :) Any desire to go for something bigger/heavier or is that size spot on for you?
@@kailashblades spot on indeed! All your blades look great, but the HSI is exactly what I wanted in a Kukri.
@@dullbrass Awesome to hear it's hit the nail on the head for you :)
That is a wild. I look at that blade’s slender profile and do not think “yeah, you can whale on bone with that.” Amazing.
Cheers! There's just about nothing we make that isn't tough :)
I’m in love
It's a beauty!
Cool stuff!!
cheers :)
@kailashblades my dad might have a project he wants you guys to do I'll keep you posted
@@oxyband125 sounds good :)
Which metal is used in making of them 5160 etc fresh or spring leaves?
Leaf springs currently. Importation is heavily restricted in Nepal but we're working hard on getting some virgin steel also.
@kailashblades so leaf spring is trustworthy completely?
@@vikasg989 Leaf springs are different in a few ways. One of which is that it has a lot of internal stresses from it's previous life underneath a truck. This is remedied by the forging and normalisation processes that occur before heat treat- these strains are released and the steel is brought back to a normal state. Secondly the leaf springs are more likely to have voids from when the springs were initially made than quality blade steel. While making the blades and grinding into the steel we recognise if a void is present (not common) and start again with a new piece. Finally there is likely to be more variation in steel composition in leaf springs than virgin blade steel. This is due to both the mixed sourcing of springs (different trucks at different times) and also in the initial making of the springs themselves. This range of variation is not large and wouldn't result in differences noticeable in normal use, however it is a limitaiton on how far we can optimise the heat treat of our blades. A well heat treated leaf spring will greatly outperform a lazily heat treated piece of virgin steel. Once the blades are made they were heavily test chopped to ensure structural integrity of the steel and correct heat treat. If a blade can pass these tests then it is just as trustworthy as a blade made with virgin steel. We are considering the move to virgin steel to smooth workshop operations associated with having to restart due to voids and also to increase our ability to dial our heat treat in a little further. We also feel that we will find better blade performance in slightly harder steels than 5160, but this is something that will be discussed deeper in future. Take care, Andrew and the team at Kailash
@kailashblades thanks for a detailed answer 👍👍👍
@@vikasg989 No worries at all- love to share knowledge when we can :)
Dang this is gorgeous! I need to get a couple blades from you guys! The pensioner and mutiny are the top of my list !
Thanks very much! The pensioner is the best looking knife in our lineup in my opinion and the 14" mutiny is maybe the most versatile too :)
Beautiful
thanks very much :)
Hello, great video, great knives! - I have put the same question in the video from 6 years ago... ;-), so there you do not need to answer, too. But here it would be nice: Seems to me you test here two versions of the HSI. Can you tell me about the grind on the HSI in this vid? Is it the performance or standard grind? I am on my way to order the HSI but not clear about the grind, and I wonder if the performance grind can stand this chopping test. kind regards from Germany
Unfortunately I don't have the specs for these blades, however we test performance grind knives to this same level. If they do not pass they do not ship :)
Hello, its been a while since you have published this video... but hey... ;-) ... can you tell me about the grind on the HSI in this vid? Is it the performance or standard grind? I am on my way to order the HSI but not clear about the grind, and I wonder if the performance grind can stand this chopping test. kind regards from Germany
Unfortunately this was so long ago that we haven't got any record sorry! Performance or standard should both be able to do horn without issue.

11.5" HSI handle looks to be medium or large, hard to say.

Anatomical details please
this is a 17" tin chirra, the specs and weights can be found on the product page on our website :)
What blade length is this
It's either 13 inch or 15 inch if my eyes are correct. That's a standard size for a khukuri blade.
it's the big boy- a 17 inch blade with a streaky horn handle
Close! This is actually the 17 inch- it's not very often that we get an order for one this big
Beautiful 🤩
thanks very much
You folks make nice stuff.
Cheers!
Size, width and length, weight please?
Hey just placed an order. I was wanting a couple gifts and came across your business. From what I have seen you guys are awesome. The humor and friendliness in your videos and site alone made me want to say thank you and i haven't even gotten the blades yet😂
That's so nice to hear! At the end of the day we're a pretty small team of friendly people and we hope our web presence reflects that. Thanks so much for the order. I'm sure once you get your hands on a knife you'll see the knives are pretty good too!
@kailashblades Oh I'm sure they will be. For being a smaller brand you have a great online reputation. Thank you for your work!
@@kevinsparks9643 No problem- thanks very much for your support!
Leather handle looks soooo good.
Thanks very much!
I have two torah kukris And compared them with the two kukris I ordered from you. Your fit finish and quality Is nowhere near as good as tora. I was especially disappointed in the serapati I ordered from you with with the glowing reviews.I expected better
Hey there clint- just received your email a few hours ago. Very sorry to hear you're unhappy with the blades you received. I've replied to your email and would love to get some more detail on what way we've not lived up to expections and work on a solution with you :)
Your constant copy pasting of this comment on videos that talk about kailash blades makes me believe you didn’t actually buy kailash blades and compare them to your tora khukuris. You seem hell bent on trying to drag kailash blades down and lift tora blades up. I even wonder if your name actually is Clint or if you are an alt account of Simon, the owner of tora blades. I wouldn’t put it past Simon to do this, considering his unprofessional and childish behaviour towards anyone who criticizes his khukuris in the comments of his videos.
@@Billowingsmoke Clint did buy knives from us and upon initial opening he wasn't happy with the fit and finish on his sirupate. It had some engraving on it which has been overfinished so it was shallower and less clear than it should have been- some good feedback that was then raised with the team. Since then he's come to like both his blades as workers and has said that the pensioner is the favourite khukuri in his whole collection due to the fine edge, excellent temper and great balance. First impressions are important and unboxing some expensive blades after a long wait can naturally lead to a strong initial response :)
@@kailashblades oh, that’s nice to hear. Thank you for clearing the confusion. I bought one of your Sirupate khukuris with a 12” blade and am super excited to get it!
@@Billowingsmoke I think you'll love it! The smaller sirupates are super handy and quite underrated

Can't wait to do this myself come the new year.
Very nice. But in future videos, for us old people with bad eyes, can you make the caption on the screen a little bit bigger? 😄
That's a great idea! We'll look into adding the subtitles through youtube- that way you can edit the size and background to your own preference :)
Nice, Congrats looks like a tough piece of kit.
Big fan of the lack of plastic in the packaging
Great to hear! Plastic waste is a big problem in Nepal so we try to avoid it when we can
