  • Getting it done the traditional way on a HSI. Note the thickness of the tang at the shoulder, extremely strong where it counts and light at the rear where you can afford it.

    Do you fit the handle before or after hardening?

      After hardening, but before the final grind and finishing

      @@kailashblades Alright. But I've seen some pictures of the blades after handle fitting, and on those pictures you can clearly see, that the steel became blue at the cutting edge near the handle, which would be used for carving....if the fitting was before hardening, that wouldn't be an issue, but after hardening means, that the edge holding and the edge durability is very bad at this spot, as the steel is soft.
      Wouldn't fitting before hardening be the better way?

      @@niklasfischer3915 When you say fitting do you mean after burning in a handle or on full tang blades also?

      @@kailashblades I have seen a stick tang knife after the handle was burned onto it. If it's that what you mean....

      @@niklasfischer3915 So I had a chat witht he guys and it turns out I was wrong. They get burned in before hardening then hardened, cleaned up and put in for the final time. My mistake
