Talking Technique - Learning from my mistakes
I have about 20 full sets of colored pencils and very few cheap ones, and I have a huge tub of crayolas . For a while I was all about prismas but lately I have been more into a harder lead and tbh I really enjoy the crayolas . I can get very good results if I use a lot of light layers and burnish at the very end .
I loved these pencils so much, I bought a second backup set. I was really surprised that more YT weren't talking about them when they came out earlier in the year. Maybe they didn't get them into many RUclipsrs' hands earlier. But I saw an early video and she literally did a side-by-side of them with the Holbeins and I have to admit, that's a good comparison. They have the same sort of fatiness and tackiness that's notable in the Holbein colored pencils. Obviously, Holbein is a professional level pencil but the Woomers are really fun to use. Wish the set was bigger. I not only bought a second set but I got some of its other art products (gel pens and acrylic paint pens). Interesting about the cat. Woomer is also the name of a Chinese company that does electric blankets and I thought maybe they just branched out into art products. (and yes, all of Caran d'Ache products have the swatch inside the sleeve. but I loved that, too. The fact that Woomer took the time to do that and did lightfast testing as well.) Glad you loved these and did such a wonderful video on them.

It really helped me show others about it. Unfortunately, the sets I got from Caran d'Ache had no sleeve...so I would have never known! @@sugahsweetart You know, I think your channel was suggested to me by RUclips a few months ago and I've been enjoying your videos. Very much to the point. You don't have a lot of filler (for ex. you don't tell me something I can see clearly with my own eyes in the video. That drives me crazy). Your color work is enviable and sharp.

i bought them cheap on Remi and i gave them away. very hard, low pigmented pencils
hmmm I wonder if you got a bad set...or maybe mine was one made with love... 🤔 I found the pigment in these pretty vivid. I remember looking at my swatch sheet and being impressed. hmm...its a shame you didnt have a better experience. These things happen I guess Thanks for watching 🥰
@@sugahsweetart Apparently they have oil based and water soluble, wonder if maybe that would be the difference?
@@sherrybucalo9888 oh that would definitely be different. The fluctuation on a pencil/brand like this is bound to happen. Its possible she just got a bad batch. you can see the swatch sheet when I hold it up....its pretty vibrant. Id be curious to know if others have had a bad experience with them as well
For cards I prefer the Essential Color Card Deck and it’s available on Amazon. Love your version too.

I’ve recently discovered by accident that (a very happy accident) that adding a pale lavender under my greys softens yet enhances. It’s hard to explain. I use a lot of cool bright colours and neutral greys, but am now loving my lavender tinted greys. Just coloured a husky completely with the combo and it looks so soft. Give it a try, you’ll see 😊 ❤️🇦🇺

Only a few minutes in and you already seem like the pencil equivalent of Bob Ross's Joy of Painting. You explain really well, relaxing voice and easy to follow instructions. I'm about to try colouring a happy little flower 🌸😂

These look and act just like my set of Brutfuners (sold under a different package name on Amazon) - do you think the same pencils are being repackaged my many different companies? I love my Brutfuners, especially the greens and deep red/browns.
Mine say Wanshui on the box but Brutfiner on the pencils. Varying quality - some break all the time - but definitely worth it for the price.
@@winterautumncolours-tt8fw Well, I don't think THESE are Brutfuners...I could be wrong (it wouldn't be the first time) but they have a different feel to them. I would say Brutfuners go down a little smoother (at least the Brut. Square) than these.
Great video. Good to know. I've used their Watercolors and they were terrible. Pencils look pretty good at least.

i coulndt find the large set...When I looked (so I could ad a link) the only option I found was the smaller sets....so Im not sure why they dont have this one!
Can I ask what country you live in? We don't tend to get many of these types of sets of pencils in Europe. Most of them you can only order from Amazon US 😕

This is what I love so much about Sugah Sweet's work. If I want to do something quick I can do that, or I can make it as detailed and with varied techniques to make the pic really special. What a fun video. Sitting with my coffee and watching this beautiful pic come to life.

IMHO, I hope you do various video topics! Of course, we love your pencil appreciation videos, but we mostly, appreciate you and your talent. I personally love color alongs. As a novice (5 months), I'm eager to learn different styles and techniques. And yes, I would absolutely love a video on blenders. You talked about them a bit in a previous video and at the time, I didn't even know there was a difference. We want it all!

Looks like a nice variety of pastels and greens. Must I confess that I never swatch. In fact, I’m contemplating putting all of my pencils in containers by color. Sacrilege, I know, but that’s how I work. I swatch as I go. I don’t have a coloring planner either. I picked up some Prismas for less than $1 each, at this funky art store, and some gelatos for $6.00, and it is a joy to use those Prismas. Enjoy your videos.

Thank you Hollie. I'm still trying to find my voice with these things. By nature, I usually cut up and make jokes...but I find this isn't really the crowed for that. My more creative videos seems to get the least amount of views....and I haven't even posted the ones that I really like yet because I'm just not sure how they will be received! haha So thank you for enjoying what Ive done so far
It turned out beautifully, and all from that sketch in an old sketchbook that everyone wanted to colour! I find it really interesting and a little intimidating on using colour to make things look white! You used a grey colour here, I've seen other colours used too. It's just a bit hard to get my head around! I'd love to see a quick video on that if you had time at some point 🥰
