I thought I was done buying colored pencils. I REALLY wanted to believe that. (And then I saw this video.)
LOVE that palette. Very unique indeed. Couldn't find it on Amazon, so bought it direct from the CA website instead.
I'll never admit to how many sets of pencils I already own, but each one has it's own personality (so to speak) and purpose. These pencil appreciation videos are awesome. Thank you!
Trust me, I am someone you will NEVER have to justify the amount of sets you have. I am a true believer that we only live once and we should take no shame in surrounding ourselvs in the things that make us happy. You love to color! You love the way they go down on paper! You like the way they layer, blend, and feel. I get it! You my friend...are a colorologyst. A reare and wonderful creature you are! haha

I am a very novice colorist and have only used my set of Crayola pencils before now. But when I saw these, I fell in love with the pallet! I was a little worried as I've never used wax pencils before, but like you pointed out, they are more "sturdy" than other wax pencils appear to be and do indeed handle like my Crayolas. I decided I wanted to color something using only the Harmonious set and so I chose a Johanna Basford's Secret Garden double spread. It is turning out beautiful even in my amature hand. I can only imagine what it would look like if I knew more about coloring nuances. I'm so glad you did this video!
Thank you SO much, Sally! Yes you will come to learn that whether oil or way, it honestly comes down to the feel of the lead. I have some oil pencils that are soft and some wax that are hard...so don't ever just off of that!!! We got to get you out of that old "novice" category and turn you into a true Colorologyst!!! Mission excepted!!! haha.
But next time you need to say, I colored a double spread that was created by Sugah Sweet...you know, just to get some brownie point!!! hehe
@@sugahsweetart I have to say that I don't know whether I prefer the oil and wax pencils. I just finished the Johanna Basford double page with the Harmonious pencils, but the other side I did with my Crayolas. I love both pages. Truthfully, I prefer the Crayolas and their colorinig style. I'd rather layer than burnish. Maybe I'll learn how to use the Harmonious correctly....

I really, really, really don’t need any more pencils, but these and the pastels are sooooooo tempting. I think the purple container is charming me. I don’t really love the Castle Arts line that much either.
I am 100% with you. I think Castle Arts is pretty much on the line. Not great but not bad. But I have to agree with you...the palette is pretty spectacular

I went looking for this set on Amazon and couldn’t find it. Found everything but. I love the colors in this set.
Keep digging, thats where I got mine. It seems a set that isnt for everyone but when they find their target (you and me) it seems the perfect set!

I bought these a few weeks ago when they were on offer. They are a beautiful set of unusual colours & lay down nicely. I've only done one picture with them so far & currently doing another. Not sure whether I will use them very much in the future though.

Beautiful! But yes, the set by itself is not vibrant enough for me, however as I watched you colour the background, I thought, these would be a beautiful set for backgrounds and that is definitely the way I would use them.
Oh absolutely! Keeping in mind I only used them exclusively to showcase them, but in reality, I rarely used them on their own. I think they would make a phenomenal BG color pencil!

As for my swatch sheets, I create each of those little boogers! It's as painful as it sounds haha it is definitely NOT a fast process. But my goal is to get in into yalls hands either VERY cheap or for free

@@sugahsweetart … you just popped up yesterday on my recommended list along with some other new channels that I was not aware even existed. Your channel however had my attention and I was going back to some of your older videos as I found them quite informative as well as your videos are very well put together 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Let me know when you get those swatch charts available, I would love to get one for every brand of pencils I have which is very $ to budget friendly brands. I love collecting them but so many have never been used. If I had a chart for each one of them I would probably use them. So since I have soooooo many brands and would want one for each…. Maybe make a “bundle deal” so we can afford to get them all 🤣. I look forward to your next video, I now have my notifications turned on so that I will not miss it ❣️❣️❣️

These colors are GORGEOUS! I've never used Castle Arts pencils before (I'm a Prisma addict), can you tell me how these compare to Prismacolor? It seems like they blended really nicely for you.

I feel like your question alone needs it own video. Why? Because I used to be just like you years ago.
Now I find myself just diving into all the joys of these other brands.
But to answer your question...they do not compare. Just from your statement, I have a feeling I could suggest these to you but then you would hate me! haha
The lead is a LOT harder then what you will be used to and you do have to work a little harder to get the result you are used to getting. But I tell you what... once you cross that line and start branching into some of the other brands...you will start having a BLAST!

@@sugahsweetart Thanks for replying! I was going to buy them no matter what you said, even if the quality isn't great, because the colors are so unlike anything else I have. So I did. And they're here already. And I'm pretty excited about it! I'm sure I'll have an opinion on these pencils by tomorrow, so I'll let you know what I think after I try them out a few different ways. Thanks again.

Did you have issues layering the greenish grey colors? I’ve seen a review where she was complaining about them. I would love to hear your opinion.
I can't go as far as to say a specific color that stuck out to me when it came to layering. BUT I can say I had to...hmm....re-learn how to make it work when laying quite a few times while working on this page.
They wanted to fight me a little bit when the layers got a bit heavy at times. The lower layers rolled and made me work for the result I wanted. But having said that, it was definitely not a deal breaker for using them...just something to be aware of when using them.

are you asking why some of the pencils have been used? If so...I used them to color the picture that I show at the end of the video ☺
