This is super helpful. One problem I ran into that I'm having difficulty solving is creating a wingtip for a cambered foil where the bottom of the profile crosses over the centerline. For example, an RG-15 near the trailing edge goes above the centerline. This makes it not possible to use the centerline and half the profile to loft to the midplane of the wing. I tried splitting it into two (vertically ~20% from the trailing edge) and was able to make the profile, however it has a crease in the surface at the line.

Hello RCGUIDE, I have started to build kits for RC airplanes from plans (e.g. from Outerzone) for my own use and for the joy of building. At first I tried to do this directly in Lightburn (i use a Longer Ray 5 with 10W ad 850x420mm surface), but quickly reached the limits of the software. As I already use Fusion360 for my 3D printed components, the idea was also to use Fusion369 for the construction of the kits. While researching on RUclips, I came across your videos. I've already watched quite a few of them in the last few days. They are really fantastic and will certainly be a great help to me. Thank you so much for all the work you've put into this!!! I build with a paint brush to apply tite bond or white glue ..clean up is a snap...ca, and epoxy have different clean up... getter done

former b is loner t account for the down thrust angle taper. don't sweat it the wood will tell you what need adjusting...nice build.

Hey, I don't understand the step you're doin at 11:51. What command are you doing? I tried splitting the body but it doesn't work. Do I have to sketch the line you sketched in 5:10 to be able to do what you did in 11:51? English is not my mother tongue so I might also have misunderstood something but I'd be thankful for any help!! :)

31:00 - what is this "wash out" for? Is that for increasement of the lift? My first impression is that angle on the wing tip will decrease the lift, could you give me some info where I can read anything about that? Also: making your own design of the plane, how do you know what is the proper wing-span considering that you have choose the specific wing profile? How should I calculate that? Thank u for your help!

Hi @TheRCGuide at 7:56 you are creating the (lets call it outline sape of the wing (maybe not the correct term; I am not an english native speaker :) ). Is it possible to import the airfoil dat file if the outline shape of the wing is done first or is it necessary to import the airfoil and just THEN creating the wing outline shape? Sounds complicated, but I hope you know what I am asking :D

On 12:26 you say you don't like the angle the loft creates. That is because you have the setting to "connected" instead of "tangent". That will solve your problem without having to make extra sketches. Also you can always add 3D splines to the existing sketch and use those as guides for the loft, without needing extra sketches.

Great Video! Do you have any Fusion 360 tips on how you would take a 3d model of an RC plane and convert it to 2d plans (print as a PDF) so that one could build on the plans and make templates like you would do in a conventional build?

mat i ask where there might be a good resource for plans for simple builds? im looking at possibly a class project where we build an RC plane, i have the fusion skills and access to 3d printers and a cnc laser for fabrication, and a large plotter for printing full size plans, i just don' know where to find plans simple enough for a first build

Hi, I'm having a problem cutting the top tabs into the sides - any help appreciated. When trying to combine the fuselage top / sides with cut I get the following error: There was a problem combining geometry together. If attempting a Join/Cut/Intersect, try to ensure that the bodies have a clear overlap (problems can occur where faces and edges are nearly coincident). Failed to Boolean bodies together. I can't visually see anything obviously wrong. Many thanks.

I've been wrestling with wing design using lofts and it's been driving me nuts. I wasn't familiar with sweeps which appears to make life a lot easier. Thanks for sharing this information. Also, I'd like to find out more about control point splines.
