    Congratulations on getting your full credentials for school psychology. I hope to get there some day lol right now, I have my Bachelors in Counseling Psychology. I do want to go to grad school for school psychology. Currently, I work for an industrial coatings company and I’m an assistant sales manager. I do a lot of face-to-face meetings and sales calls. Also, I visit job sites a lot and help customers with paint, caulking, and drywall. In addition, I’m learning Spanish and I finished a six week Paint Spanish program here at work. I’m excited and happy that I’m learning a second language. Originally, I’m Native American and I know my native language Navajo but we do have a lot of Spanish speakers where I’m from to so that’s why I want to learn more Spanish lol you mentioned having boundaries at work and I agree with you 100%! I work with a lot of men so having boundaries is a must! There are moments where I have to be indifferent because I don’t want anyone to think or assume otherwise. A few weeks ago, I got after a client because he was being condescending. It wasn’t a pleasant experience but it had to be done. Can’t let people step all over you lol thank you for uploading this video. I plan to go back to school next fall. ❤

    How do you get out of the field and what options are there? The politics and toxic environment has burned me out (and many others). After 20-years, unless one has a license for private practice, you are trapped into the field.

      If you have your BA already I believe something like that. If no prior eduction then more like 6+ years. It's 4 years for BA in Psychology or related. 2-3 years for Grad school which checks off practicum hrs + 1,200 hours internship since it's required in order to complete the program. Apply for State License. Apply for NASP certification if needed (unknown time frame). I THINK if I followed correctly. I am 27 wanting to go into the field and it feels so late for how long I'd be in school but better late than never I suppose!

      @ thanks for the response! Better late than never indeed! You’re not alone, I’m 29 with a BA in psych (minor in marketing) - been working in marketing since college but been considering grad school. I can totally relate about it feeling late for how long it would take

    Your videos and Tiffany’s are so helpful! You both inspired me to apply for a school psych (specialist) program. If I wanted to connect/ask questions (Ive been accepted to a school psych program) would it be possible to reach out via message on Instagram or e-mail? I didn’t want to follow you on Instagram since your account is private without first asking which is the best way to ask you questions. As a bilingual professional myself, your being bilingual is definitely motivating!

    Soo much missing here from the school psych realm. School psychs go to school for 3 years it’s a masters plus a specialist cert. Check NASPs professional standards school psychs also do all the stuff you said social workers do.

    Where I live we diagnose ID and LD. We do not identify ASD, that is diagnosed outside our system, and only then do we identify. All our identifications, even LD and ID, are done by a committee of 8 - four union and four union staff (one of which is a psychologist).

    • @MrsSchoolPsych

      It definitely isn't easy but it is doable. It takes a lot of prioritizing, organizing, and sacrificing. I consider myself an organized person and would have a routine that worked for me and my family. I would do my homework at night after my kids would go to sleep, I gave up hanging out with friends in order to have time to do my homework, etc. It takes a lot of self discipline but I would constantly remind myself that it was only temporary and eventually it would pay off.

    I am pursuing school psychology for the same reasons! I also had a difficult up brining and I think of how I would’ve loved to have someone help. I know that especially during middle school myself and my peers struggled a lot in ways deeper than any adult knew. I wanted to know for states that pay lower such as PA, is there way for career advancement after the graduate level. I seen there are doctorate programs or maybe addition certifications to increase pay. I feel it’s a misconception school psychologist work only in schools. Is there any job placement setting that could pay more or be as enjoyable as working in the school setting that you’ve found?

I was curious about what you said about school psychology maybe being a better fit for introverted individuals compared to school counseling. I'm more introverted myself so that's why I am thinking more so about pursuing school psychology. If I could ask do you still feel this way now assuming you now have a few more years of experience in the field?

However, I was wondering if you can help me . Would Behavioral Health Science in Infancy and Early childhood studies be the same as child development?

    • @MrsSchoolPsych
      @MrsSchoolPsych Год назад

      Hi! I would recommend meeting with an academic counselor and letting them know you are interested in getting your bachelors in child development so that they can show you what courses you would need. Colleges/Universities can have different names to their degrees but are similar as far as the content. Early childhood studies sounds like it would be in the child development realm.
