I've been contemplating if I want to go to grad school for School Psych or not...this video reminded me of why this is what I want to do. so THANK YOU!
I just found your channel, and I'm a undergrad student in Psychology. I'm planning to study in School Psychology when I go to grad school, and there are many list of jobs that school psychology can be used. I just wanted to learn more about school psychologist, so I can know what they do 😊
Let me know if you have any questions! My next video is going to be up this coming weekend and it will be about the steps you need to take to become a school psychologist :)
Thank you for this video. Very exciting to see more school psychologists/ school psychology students make videos. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to more of your videos. 😎
I am pursuing school psychology for the same reasons! I also had a difficult up brining and I think of how I would’ve loved to have someone help. I know that especially during middle school myself and my peers struggled a lot in ways deeper than any adult knew. I wanted to know for states that pay lower such as PA, is there way for career advancement after the graduate level. I seen there are doctorate programs or maybe addition certifications to increase pay. I feel it’s a misconception school psychologist work only in schools. Is there any job placement setting that could pay more or be as enjoyable as working in the school setting that you’ve found?
I`m interested in becoming a school psychologist and am looking for a graduate program, but I don't know where to find one. I`m completely lost, to be honest.
Awesome! Hopefully you decide to join our field, we need more school psychs! My next video will actually be on what steps to take if you want to become a school psychologist; I just need to finish editing it, so be on the look out for that video :)
Hi! Only a Masters is required. I have another video that quickly goes over what you need to become a school psychologist: ruclips.net/video/yQlucuHR-Z8/видео.html
Thank you ! Would yoi also say that school psychologist get paid well? Did you experience working with kids ? Can someone have their own practice as a school psychologist?
@@amandaogbureke2574 The pay depends on the state you live in. Some states pay really good and others not so much. I also have a video on how much school psychologist make incase you want to check that one out too lol. I did work with kids before starting my graduate program, i think it helps a lot to get some experience (if possible) prior to starting your program. To have your own practice you would need to get your doctorate. There is also the option of getting your License and become an LEP to provide services out side of the school.
Amanda Ogbureke depending on your contract with your school district, you can work ESY (summer school). At my district we work 15 days above the school year so it’s up to us now we want to schedule (and have approved by the special ed director) when to work those extra days. I usually work a few days during each break. Hope that helps.
Does anyone know if I can become a school Psych with early childhood education bachelors? Or the chance is lower compare to elementary teacher education. Thank you
I’ve been doing a lot of research and as long as you take the general psychology prereqs necessary then you can apply! Also any experience with children would look good on your application.
Yes, as long as you have a doctorate degree in school psychology and are a licensed psychologist through your state licensing board, you can operate your own practice as a school psychologist. In some states, school psychologists with specialist or masters level degrees can become licensed to work in private practice settings under the supervision of a doctorate level professional.
All good reasons! Also, God placed this job on my heart so here I am!

I have a question. Could someone potentially open their own practice as a school psychologist ?
No. To open a practice you would need a PhD
