Duude, @Remy you've got cool looking tatts! @James Marvel did bring out/approve the Deadpool and Wolverine movie art book lmao so only 99% forgot to forward plan? xD I got the Kingdom Come compact cause I know its like a really cool/well regarded elseworld (?) story but I haven't actually read it yet and I don't have the shelf space for a bunch of trades or an omnibus of something that I haven't read and might not 100% like (the premise does sound cool though) whereas the compact, if I don't like I can tuck away in a desk drawer or give to a younger sibling. Keen asf for the Magic Order Library Edition - looooved the premise and the weird wacky magic that they used in that universe. Especially very first initial Issue #1 (I think) where they long distance weaponise a room to kill someone. On the fence with Asterix as its only 72 pages. I prefer hardcovers with more bang for buck. I agree with Remy in that whilst there was a bunch on offer via Comic Direct. It did feel "smaller" compared to other months. Personal question @both of you - have either of you been interested/ordered any of the Dstlry comics/ collected editions? What is your opinion on their (to me at least) model of FOMO with the number of different versions of hardcover that they seem to be doing e.g: - A "basic" hardcover (purely collecting the #1-#4 issues and nothing else), - A direct market Hardcover (all the same issues as the basic with some extra goodies, different cover and a tip in sheet), - A deluxe Hardcover (same extra goodies as direct market + even more extra interior, backmatter and cover gallery pages?, a signed tip in plate, and a different "Deluxe" cover) and then also a special hardcover of the Issue #1 (inks plus commentary and extra notes from writer/ artist?) of any run once its completed (so far)?

This is my smallest CED order yet. Not too much of interest but still hitting over $400. Has opening up pre orders with CED helped the shop out? Because I love it.

I was so tempted to buy Halos and Horns, but at the very last minute, I took it out, I'm still considering grabbing it, but I really don't want to commit to another ongoing title. I already collected about 10 ongoing more if you count Alien and Predators comics. happy to grab the odd mini-series, but just can't keep stacking on new ongoing every month which is sad. Maybe I should just come work at Comic Etc I'm sure you said in one of your past videos that all you do all day is sit behind the desk and read comics. :D

"If you didn't read Asterix as a kid, you didn't grow up." It's true. I'll be picking up Emma Ríos’s Anzuelo. I loved her work on Pretty Deadly. She's been working on this one for a while (it's a 300 page graphic novel), so I've got high hopes.

oh speaking of Aussie-creator books: I read Fairsquare Graphics Tunis To Sydney recently which released in late July. A truly indie comics & the first time Fairsquare Graphics has entered my radar, but a really moving story with good art and some truly flawed protagonists.

Into the Unbeing was NOT on my radar at all (my independent publisher preference is everything BOOM Studios, dotted with some Image normally), i'm very curious considering i work in the climate science space (different focus, but tangential connection), so this vid was especially useful. Also big thanks getting the Luciano Vecchio variant cover for Uncanny X-Men sorted, been a massive fan of the artist since his Marvel Infinity Comics Iceman run, which i hope gets a full trade release someday (#1 of 4 was published in the Marvel Pride X-Men Wedding Special this year).

Black Canary Best Of The Best mini-series is a new addition to my list alongside the Cass Cain Batgirl & the Renee Montoya Question series. More enthused for the solo character stories + Lady Shiva fights than the writer who hasn't wowed me with anything of his i've read so far, but looks promising. Hope Dinah & Cass's solo series doesn't get them rotated out of the Birds of Prey main line-up. Also picking up BOOM Studios sci-fi neo-noir thriller series Vicarious purely because of the art.

Conjunctivitis is an after-effect from reading Archie comics. Take care.

Only started reading single issue comics in May last year, the couple of marvel floppies I unwittingly picked up turned out to be short runs. When I picked up Ultimate Invasion I was blown away by the world building and it felt much more like what I was hoping to find. Unsurprisingly, I’m now buying less of the big two these days.

Also, favourite puppet is Mr. Flibble.

On Wonder Woman Outlaw, there's a lot of overlay commentary but it wasn't too difficult to follow. The fight v Grail was brutal. Lasso of truth is held by Diana, Lasso of lies is held by the (newbie) Sovereign. It's a great read, interesting parable of influence today. Looking forward to the "Finale"!

Favourite Puppet: I actually have TWO puppets! I have the Angel the Vampire puppet from Angel's 2004 Season 5 Episode 14 episode "Smile Time" where the titular character played by David Boreanaz is transformed in to a "bloody puppet". My second puppet is, even though he was never a puppet in the show, they made a variant puppet for Spike played by James Marsters, so i had to get him too.

OK, I'm gonna have to send you an email full of recommendations for kids. Salt Magic is an absolute gem. It won an Eisner and yet not enough people know about it. Oh, and the recent adaptation of Watership Down is phenomenal.

Due to memory issues I wait till a story is finished before I read it. My order just goes with the book that has the most issues backlogged.

Wow! Thanks, I think?!? No, actual thanks. Allow me to wallow in my own crapulence. About 20 years ago (could it really be that long?!?) Mark Bagley showed up at Supanova, at the time he was in the middle of his Ultimate Spider-man run and so that’s the comic he’s really pushing. I show up in his line with a few Amazing Spider-man books from the era of this omnibus and in a completely cool, not-insane way at all (like pretty much any Supanova interaction I have), explain to him how his Amazing run became my personal default for the look of the character and my admiration for his dynamic art that never disappointed me. He graciously signed the comics and dropped me a head sketch but he then started to flick through the comic and stopped at about a dozen locations pointing out where he thought it was garbage. It might be a bit of self-depreciation, it might be bad memories of cross-overs of maximum carnage and clones which was soon to come. But his offhand way of demolishing a comic (which realistically was really nothing special) completely deflated me. So the artist agrees with James assessment! So Thanks. These issues might be in the vicinity of ‘meh’ but I’ll give it a prominent place of a bookshelf, which is probably more than Bagley will!

I read my most anticipated comic then all the others sit on my desk until I get my next months direct then I need to cram read all of last months, rinse and repeat

Reading Order is: Comics i know Friends are reading, who also ordered from the Direct site (so I avoid spoilers and to be ready for fresh discussion), whatever my Comic Club is reading because i run it and it'd be awkward if i don't do the prep, comics i'm thirsting to read, trades i've taken a chance on because i like the creator and the 2nd volume of the trade is up for pre-order on the Direct site, stuff i want to read but will inevitably end up in an ever-growing "To-Be_read" pile in favour of comfort reads or crying reads depending on my mood.
