Glad to know I'm not the only one who huffs an omnibus after removing the shrink wrap.

Secret Six is really tempting, I have the Villains United and Birds of Prey but not the main series.

I don't have many omnibuses, as I usually need to get everything in either immediately issues or first up trades. But I like the idea.... 😂

Look, big fan of them IF you know you will like the comic or it is one of your faves. Would never buy one blind.

You're gonna have some Hickman fans coming after you saying the Waid run is the definitive F4 run. Possibly some John Byrne ones too. The Stan Lee era is way too dated by modern reading standards, but i respect the legacy it established. i've enjoyed what i've read of the Slott run but i can understand it not being in the definitive run (i mainly like the angsty hair-dying version of Franklin). Generally though i gravitate towards the unconventional F4 runs where they do the eccentric line-ups - the Allreds F4 run, the Byrne with She Hulk run, i will ALWAYS have a soft spot for the run in the early 400s where Kristoff Doom & Lyja the Skrull are on the team (though there's some Invisible Woman outfits around that time that should be burnt and never seen again).
Surprised there was no omnibus spine stretching to keep the omnibus spines balanced - is that a fallacy i've inadvertently bought into ?
My all-time favourite Fantastic Four story though, isn't actually in a Fantastic Four comic though - it was Amazing Spider-Man #657 (published in 2011). It was during a time where Johnny Storm had been killed off, and in that issue he's left Peter a message to be handed over in the event that Johnny ever died, because he knows what loss does to Peter, and by jove, it is a SLEDGEHAMMER to the heart. Instantly shows what Johnny cares about under all the bravado and wise-cracks and shows how well he understands Peter Parker and how much love he has for him. Brings tears to my eyes every time i read it, but so worth it. On the off chance you haven't read it - absolutely do, or at least read the holo-message, quoted in full on the marvel.fandom wiki for Amazing Spider-Man #657.

I can see everyone's point BUT I stand by it for the simple fact that this is 1 book with no massive storyline thread throughout. If I was coming into ANY character for the first time I would love something like this. A collection of storylines that showcase all the important factors of the team and knows when to leave!

I agree of the Waid/Ringo run, I’m a ‘fair weather’ FF fan and came back onboard for the lead up to the #500 anniversary and stuck with it to the end of their stint. Wonderful tribute to the God (yes, capital G… but not that one) of the Fantastic Four. I may have shed a tear.

Could not agree more about the dust jackets. An omnibus is supposed to be a super durable and premium format, and they chuck a flimsy bit of paper on it that they use as the actual cover most of the time. A big plus for a lot of Rick Remender’s hardcovers is the lack of a dust jacket haha.

Is dust that dangerous that you need the world's thinest paper to protect it? Sooooooooo dumb!
