      I think colors are a bit different due to sensor generation I will make a comparison test the same day the same scene to be able to give you a correct answer Over the image quality, the D6 is an achievement of what was already good in the D3S in terms of Af, Light exposure, speed, shortcuts buttons, user interface and so on and so forth. And you get a little more pixels but not tooooo much 👍

    Hello Didier, thank you for your wonderful overview of the custom settings, I only have one question and that is why you didn't set the ISO numbers higher, in a previous video you set the ISO numbers to 12,000 on the D3s, which I've had for two years and have been very happy with so far. Is there a reason why you only set it up to ISO 800, but everything in the shooting menu was great and I think it's great that you're still experimenting with this Nikon D3s or D3x and I think it's a very good camera too.. thx chris

    nice walk-through Didier - thanks. I have to admit that when I shot Nikon as my main camera (D90, D700 and briefly D800) I rarely ventured deep into the menu. Shooting landscapes I didn't really feel the need to have rapid access to any modes, etc. But it's nice to see that on their pro cameras Nikon really did put the photographer first, with so many dedicated buttons 🙂

    Hi Didier, thank you for another wonderful video! I have 2 of these D3x and I developed a love-hate relationship with them. I can live with ISO limitations, but one thing that drives me crazy is that in 14-bit raw the shutter sounds terrible. Not only it goes down from 5fps to <2fps, but it sounds weak… as if I shoot at 1/20s (regardless of actual shutter speed). Other than that it is a great camera.

    • @DidierMOULINPhotography
      @DidierMOULINPhotography Месяц назад

      Hi, thank you for this very positive feedback and sharing your experience with the D3X. Yes indeed you are right, when 14 bits RAW is engaged, the burst rate drops... But personally I love this sound ! It doesn't change if I am in 12 or 14 bits and it's one of the characteristic of the camera that I really like. This sound is amazing. Great to see a new review of the D3X. I loved and still love the camera. Only issue I found is the image quality at high ISOs, like 1,600, is not that great. So for low light it benefits from working alongside the D4, for example. But at 100 ISO the images are truly incredible on the D3X… and on a par with more modern cameras… Still don’t understand why it was SO VERY expensive when it was new though… and I bought mine new when it first came out!

    • @DidierMOULINPhotography

At the beginning the L mount didn’t exist and it was the T mount. Otherwise you don’t need the expensive Leica if your lenses are not coded. The additional EVF is welcomed too for manual focusing in bright day light.

      @@DidierMOULINPhotography gotcha. That’s really helpful. So the older Leica M mount lens aren’t coded really as I understand it. But I see M mounts with two different sizes, ZM for Zeiss?, and M screw mount, there’s a little need for clearing this up. There also seems to be a variety of adapters, too! With this camera still for sale by Leica it seems to be popular lately. I’d really enjoy a follow up video about how to use this camera in today’s world of lenses. Cheers!

    Hi Didier, thank you for making this video. When shooting when there's plenty of light, do you notice a difference b/w D6 and D3S? I think where the D6 shines is shooting in very low light and not missing a shot in sports or wildlife photography. Also, the eye autofocus is a good improvement for moving subjects. But even a 10 year old Fuji mirorless that costs a lot less than the D6 does eye autofocus and costs much less than the used D6. If the D6 costs below 1,000 USD, I'd go for it. D3S and used Fuji mirrorless won't break the bank. I do appreciate your inputs though. I love your content.

Spectacular image quality and good speed. The 105 f2.5 which you mentioned. I have the last version of this before it went Ai. This version has more rounded aperture blades. Very good lens. I have others but Nikon excel at longer focal lengths compared to other makes. I would like to buy a newer Nikon camera and then I can adapt some of these autofocus lenses but not much in the way of good value second hand mirrorless Nikons at the moment. @@DidierMOULINPhotography I tried an S5II yesterday. It's very good but much more expensive than an S1. The size of the S1 concerns me a bit and if you want VLog you have to buy an update but even then, it's still ridiculously cheap. One thing I love on the S1 models is that EVF. What I don't want is a Sony. I've had problems with them and my Sony is now totally broken. I have to buy a camera soon but I'm still not sure which one. An S1 would give me a camera for the moment at cheap price. Ideally I would like to go Nikon because apparently their adapter works really well with older mount autofocus lenses. I don't have any of those but I know many of them are great and a good buy second hand. The Zf is appearing second hand now. I though that was great. I tried one but I'm not sure about the retro style and ergonomics. Have you ever noticed any moire problems with the S1? I know you concentrate on photography but obviously you do youtube videos. The S1H has an AA filter so should not have moire problems but it is even bigger. I'm thinking to separate video and photography so I can have a much smaller photography camera. I don't like the idea of taking any of the S1 range out for landscapes for example and they wouldn't be discreet for any street photography. I don't think it will be too long before all the cameras have great autofocus and IBIS but it's still a bit limited if you are buying second hand.

    Second hand Nikons would be great except for the fact that Nikon have been years behind with mirrorless so second hand options are not great. Some people have found that using an adapter with electronic contact but non electronic lens attached causes the eye detection to work but then stabilization is not working. It doesn't work with Nikon's own adapter either. It will work with a newer manual lens like say a Voigtlander which has electronic communication. The manual Zeiss Classic versions with electronic contacts should also cause it to work. I have one of those but this kind of kills the usefulness of that feature for old vintage lenses.

Schneider Krueznach, early preset and auto Takumars, Nikons and Zeiss are great. The worst buys are Sony cameras or at least the larger full frame ones.
